On New Girl Season 5 Episode 5, Nick's relatives, Bob and Carol, come to visit to ask if he'll donate sperm so they can have a kid. Nick is ready to help them out, but Schmidt intervenes and tries to convince Nick not to do it. Schmidt tells Nick he has done such a great job of getting his life back on tracks, but Nick makes the argument that he hasn't had a healthy relationship in a long time and is afraid he'll never have a child. Schmidt decides to give his blessing to Nick, but Bob and Carol let Nick know they don't be able to afford the procedure and instead ask Nick to sleep with Carol. Nick is, of course, not on board with sleeping with her, but Schmidt convinces him he needs to do it. Thankfully when the time came to have sex with Carol, Nick got overwhelmed and couldn't do it. Nick also realized he needs to give it time and he'll eventually have a child with a woman he loves.

Meanwhile, Cece and Winston's friendship continued to grow when he accompanied her while shopping for wedding dresses. Unfortunately, Cece and Winston had a little too much to drink and picked out a hideous wedding dress which can't be returned. Cece is at first disappointed, but Winston shows her how much he cares about the wedding and she realizes she wants Winston as a bridesmaid which he quickly accepts.
