Danner sits with Zoe as they prepare to go over her story of the night. Zoe mentions how it feels like there are different versions of each person inside themselves -- one is the person you always wished you could be, one is the person you actually became.

Zoe says she has a confession, and she begins her story. She remarks that going to the reunion wasn’t weird for her because she basically never left high school. She became a sub, then the art teacher, then an administrator, then vice-principal.

For the reunion, Zoe decided to let out “Fun Zoe,” an alter-ego who has been trapped inside her since she got pregnant. Zoe made a list of all the fun things to do. Zoe and Fun Zoe have a conversation.

Danner watches as Zoe has a conversation with herself and expresses concern.

Zoe goes through her list with Fun Zoe.

Interrupting the interview, Aniq comes in and says he can’t let Zoe take the fall for him. Aniq says that both he and Danner know Zoe couldn’t have done anything to Xavier. Danner chastises him and orders him out of the room.

Aniq tells Yasper to answer his phone -- Aniq has secretly left his phone in the room with Danner and Zoe, so they can listen in via Yasper’s earbuds. Unfortunately, Yasper’s phone is at 10% battery. They go off in search of a charger.

Zoe gives Fun Zoe the reigns. The two-headed Zoe sees Brett and confronts him, asking where Maggie is. Brett explains that she is with Veronica, the babysitter. When Brett talks, it just sounds like Brett is farting out of his mouth.

Zoe runs into Aniq. Zoe remembers how sweet and adorable he was, but Fun Zoe doesn’t have time for him and goes inside. Fun Zoe doesn’t want to play nice with a nice guy -- she wants to find a hot, dumb guy to make out with.

Fun Zoe checks in with the Jennifers, hoping to party and get crazy with them. They both reveal their pregnancies.

Zoe enters the gym. Everyone makes sad puppy dog faces at her because of the divorce. Yasper, Indigo and others offer their sympathies and concerns.

Fun Zoe takes the karaoke microphone from Walt in the middle of his song. Fun Zoe sings Cher’s “Turn Back Time,” and Zoe joins in. Xavier appears. Fun Zoe wants to make out with him, but Zoe doesn’t want to be a groupie. Fun Zoe argues that Xavier is a fellow artist.

Aniq sweats while doing his awful karaoke. Fun Zoe laughs, but Zoe finds it endearing. Zoe pulls the cord out of the speaker as Fun Zoe takes them over to Xavier.

Aniq listens to the interview, noting that he thought she was singing “Turn Back Time” to him.

At the reunion, Xavier and Fun Zoe chat. Xavier is having trouble coming up with a character’s laugh for an upcoming film role. He tries out some laughs on her. Fun Zoe is enjoying herself, but Zoe is off-put. Fun Zoe laughs.

Yasper pulls Xavier away to the bar, and Aniq swoops in. Zoe takes command and flirts with Aniq. The lights dim, and the slideshow of Brett, Zoe and Maggie begins. Aniq says he always wanted to see the teacher’s lounge. He grabs some wine, and he and Zoe run off together.

As they listen to Zoe’s interview, Yasper assures Aniq it is going well. Aniq realizes that Zoe had a lot going on earlier that night of which he wasn’t even aware.

Yasper finds a charger on a shelf, calling it beautiful. Walt, in the vicinity, thinks they are talking to him, but when he realizes they are not, he walks away, crashing into a chair. The phone currently charging is at less than 30% -- Aniq says it would be a faux pas to unplug it. Yasper insists. Aniq unplugs it.

Immediately, Jennifer #1 comes over, giving them grief for unplugging her phone at less than 30%, especially since Jennifer #2 is still missing and she might be trying to get a hold of her. Aniq and Yasper concede defeat and leave her phone alone.

In the school hallway, Zoe explains to Aniq how she ended up working at the school. He asks her if that was really what she wanted to do. She’s not sure. He remarks that the school decor is better because of her, and she says she painted this mural with her students. Even Fun Zoe is charmed by Aniq.

Drunk Chelsea arrives on the scene. Another Zoe shows up -- Ragey Zoe. Ragey Zoe attacks Chelsea as Aniq and Zoe run off to the teacher’s lounge.

In the teacher’s lounge, Fun Zoe pulls some weed gummies out of the contraband closet, and they both eat some. Zoe shares her list with Aniq, and he exclaims that he loves lists.

On the bleachers, Stoner Zoe has taken over talking with Aniq. She contemplates her existence and the many version of herself. Aniq notes how escape rooms can make you feel stuck, but sometimes it helps show you where you feel stuck in your life. He confesses that he always had a crush on her in high school.

Zoe takes over, saying she had no idea. Fun Zoe tells her it was pretty obvious. Aniq goes in for a kiss. Zoe, Fun Zoe, and Stoner Zoe all agree to go for it when Maggie shows up. Veronica says she had a family emergency, and she called Brett multiple times, but he didn’t answer.

Zoe turns into Mama Bear Zoe. Zoe enacts being a Mama Bear for Danner. Danner just stares at her. Zoe sits back down.

Danner asks Zoe if she would have kissed Aniq if Maggie hadn’t have shown up. Zoe asked if that’s relevant to the case. Danner says it establishes state of mind, but she’s also just curious.

Zoe explains that she wasn’t sure. She has been kissing the same man since she was 17, and it was weird to be in that situation with someone else.

Danner asks if Aniq’s mouth was closed or open. When Zoe says it was closed, Danner confirms that means he likes her because guys who go in with their tongues all crazy are just trying to get it in.

Yasper says Culp is following them. He sees Xavier’s prop collection. Aniq is trying to listen. Yasper pulls out Xavier’s unreleased biography (“I, X”), which opens the hidden panic room behind the shelf.

Aniq and Yasper go in, and the door closes behind them. They have no more reception. Aniq wants to get out so they can hear the rest of Zoe’s interview.

Culp walks past the shelf, confused about where Aniq and Yasper could have gone. Culp tries on Xavier’s hat from the Hungry Hungry Hippos movie.

In the panic room, Yasper pulls up security footage, including a camera in the studio. He says he can read lips, but when he attempts to read Zoe’s, it’s just gibberish.

In Zoe’s story, Mama Bear Zoe roars at Brett and tells him to take Maggie home. Brett and Maggie leave. Fun Zoe and Aniq head out to the afterparty but then come across Xavier, hanging out of his helicopter, offering Zoe a ride.

Fun Zoe gets in. Zoe is reluctant to leave Aniq, but Fun Zoe states it’s on the list to do an activity she’s never done before.

In the helicopter, Xavier asks Zoe if she’d like to do his next album cover. His idea involves his head on a tiger, with money for fur, being held by a big baby, with a full arm sleeve tattoo of Xavier’s face.

At the afterparty, on the upper balcony, Xavier is still talking about the album cover while Fun Zoe listens. Fun Zoe is at a loss and asks Zoe to take over to transition the conversation away from the weirdness.

Zoe notices an old poster of Bye Bye Birdie, a musical they did in school. Xavier keeps it to remind himself what a nerd he was back then, and now he’s a star. He recalls how Zoe was out of his league back then. He gets an idea for a song and records it while she listens.

Zoe asks about the album art. Xavier says the art was just a way to get her to his bedroom. He goes in for a sloppy kiss, but they are interrupted by a crash below. They look down. It’s Brett who has pushed Aniq into the shrimp ‘X.’

Brett rushes upstairs to confront Xavier. Mama Bear Zoe takes over, asking Brett about Maggie. Ragey Zoe appears as well, but Zoe and Fun Zoe douse her with water.

In the panic room, Yasper’s phone is at 2%. Aniq presses a red button, and the door opens. Aniq bursts out, and Detective Culp is right there. Culp notices they are sharing earbuds and asks what they are listening to. He insists on listening.

Aniq hands Culp the earbud. Yasper turns off his phone. Culp doesn’t hear anything. Yasper shows him that his phone is dead and tells him they’ve been looking for a charger. Culp lends them his charger and returns Aniq’s earbud. Yasper and Aniq walk away as Culp searches the panic room.

Zoe recounts how Brett apologized and said he’s not good enough for her, but he’s going to work at earning back her trust. Fun Zoe thinks they should find Aniq.

Culp knocks on the door and tells Danner that they are listening to her interviews. She blows him off, saying it’s just getting juicy.

Culp calls the captain.

Zoe explains that when she caught up with Aniq, he was very drunk. He had a guitar and was about to sing, but then he vomited, and he passed out on the floor.

The Zoes realize that they don’t need anyone else but themselves to have fun. Zoe, Fun Zoe, Ragey Zoe, Stoner Zoe, and Mama Bear Zoe spend the next while partying together -- they do shots, draw a cat on Aniq’s belly, and shoot a crossbow over Chelsea’s head.

The five Zoes do a “self-hug” “self-hug” and amalgamate into one Zoe again.

Jennifer #2 comes over and hugs Zoe, confessing that she’s been sending threatening messages to Chelsea. Zoe says Jennifer #2 had never helped her, and that was not a good thing to do.

Danner clarifies that Jennifer #2 was the one sending Chelsea the messages. Danner asks if Zoe told Chelsea. Zoe says she didn’t but recalls how she and Chelsea had a good conversation and patched things up.

As the Ska-pe Diem video pops up on the screens, Aniq wakes up and says he wants to talk to Zoe but first has to go straighten things out with Xavier. Aniq goes upstairs, and they hear him cry out. Jennifer #1 heads to the balcony and spots Xavier on the rocks below.

Danner confirms that Zoe did not kill Xavier. Danner asks about Zoe’s supposed confession. Zoe explains that she felt like she could have stabbed Brett for cheating on her. She tells Danner that the story could be told in many ways to justify any of them – or none of them -- killing Xavier.

Danner tells her it looks like Aniq did it. Zoe is almost certain it wasn’t Aniq, and she knows that Danner doesn’t think so either. Aniq just needs to prove it.

Culp enters and shuts down Danner under the captain’s orders.
