Recap

Some fishermen get attacked by something unknown, almost causing them to drown.

Cora thinks that the outburst from the children was her fault, and the young Vicar's daughter won't speak to anyone.

Cora calls on the Doctor, who she immediately brings to the school.

Cora's son learns how to milk a goat.

Cora enters the school with the doctor and gathers her things, where she gets admonished by the class teacher.

Stella is concerned about her daughter.

The teacher tells the Vicar about the attacked fishermen and refuses Naomi's admittance into the school.

The Doctor continues to question Cora but seems more supportive this time around.

The Vicar goes to Cora for assistance on how to get Jo to speak.

He sends her off, but not before giving her his scarf to keep her warm.

Luke tells Cora that he is going to throw her a birthday party.

Dr. Luke tells Cora that he wants to try hypnosis on Jo, and offers to practice on Cora.

She agrees, and they start the hypnosis session.

He guides her through the session as The Vicar cares for his worried wife.

Cora drags Luke to the area the Vicar found the bone to hunt for more bones/fossils.

She finds something fascinating, and he even is stunned.

Naomi looks on as they arrive from the area.

Cora gets admonished by the fishermen and the townspeople, and they blame her for everything going on in the town and beg her to stop.

Naomi cannot find her father and attempts to go look for him.

She heads to a bar and has some beer while she talks to a male friend who wants her to drink more.

He takes her outside, where they start making out, and he tries to have sex with her, but she manages to get away from him.

The townsfolk get more concerned about the serpent.

Cora and Luke arrive at the Ransome house to try and have Luke help Jo.

Luke starts to talk about hypnosis and the unconscious with Stella.

She doesn't seem opposed to it, and Jo gives her consent by nodding her head, still not speaking.

Stella seems to be sick, as she coughs when she over-exerts herself.

The Vicar, Will, arrives to pray at his church and sees the schoolteacher, Matthew praying.

He tries and gets Matthew to tell him about his fears.

Matthew challenges the Vicar on his beliefs and what he thinks is happening to the town, but Will cannot reassure the hysteric man.

The Vicar goes for a swim in the water to try and clear his mind.

A group of seagulls starts circling overhead.

Dr. Luke begins the induction and takes Jo under.

He gets Jo to speak, and she starts to speak.

She starts seeing strange images while her unconscious unveils what happened.

Jo alludes to the fact that she and Naomi cast some sort of spell or something.

Will bursts in and attacks the doctor, which pisses Cora off.

Jo reveals to her father that she's fine and can speak again, but his emotions got the better of him.

Dr. Luke is okay with it, and is just glad that Jo is talking again.

Cora's son is still out and wandering about.

Luke and Cora get back to Martha, where she questions what happened.

Cora's son admits to liking Essex more than London.

Cora is still bothered by the event that happened with the children.

Cora leaves a letter in The Vicar's window, and he's awake and lectures her again.

She storms off, and he runs after her, and they argue.

He claims that she has a thing with Dr. Luke.

She questions his anger, and he admits that he shouldn't be as angry with her as he is.

He grabs onto the scarf that he gave Cora and brings her in close, as Jo looks on through a window in the house.
