Meanwhile, Alice lands in Modesto where she meets another magician who just came into her skills. Sheila immediately sees magic for all the good it can bring to the world in counterpoint to Alice's sour view. Sheila's first big trick that she wants Alice's help with is to fix all of the pipes in Modesto so that there is no more lead in the water.

Julia and Quentin have their hands full with The Monster who is growing impatient with the search to find the organs for his body, so much so that he starts taking poor care of Eliot's body. This behavior is distressing to Quentin who cares for Eliot and wants his friend back.

And then there's Marina and Penny who are apparently causing a frequency shift by being out of their timelines.
