Recap

Colombo is rising up for the Italians, using The Godfather as the fuel to the fire to treat Italians like trash.

The Italian American Civil Rights League will fight back, stamping out the hatred and prejudice.

Al and Bettye get a visit from the FBI about the shooting. They believe that he's been targeted by Mickey Cohen. When Mickey Cohen fires a shot, he doesn't miss. That was only a warning.

Mario and Francis are discussing the story and what makes it work. It's a Shakesperean drama, and Vito has so much power that he doesn't need to flaunt it.

Mario wants Brando as Don Corleone. Francis says that you wouldn't have to write it because with Brando in the role, it would speak for itself.

Francis worries that his look at what people will do for capitalism won't fly by Bob Evans since he is a capitalist.

Al won't blame Bettye if she tries to walk away. He has a story about a kid who wanted to beat his ass in school. He walked right into it and got his ass kicked. But he put up a good fight, and after that, the kid never fucked with him again. Al won't go back to Rand, but he understands if Bettye has to cut and run.

Al plans on talking with Mickey Cohen.

It's another raucous Hollywood party.

The outfits, drugs, and sex are perfect to the era.

Bob and Ali are the stars of the party.

It's so beautifully filmed as he looks over a hottub and down the valley.

Nobody will give Al straight answers on budget for union requirements, and Francoise warns him away from Mickey Cohen. She thinks he's trash. She stood up to him though, and he never returned.

Al learns that he hasn't offended Mickey, but the East-Coast Italians. He says it's fiction. Mickey says to make a different movie. Al says no, and Mickey laughs it off, saying he'll have to deal with them, and they don't fire warning shots.

Bob holds a meeting with Peter and Andrea Eastman, head of casting. He wants an update from Mario and Francis about how it's going.

Francis talks light and dark, and how Michael straddles the light and dark. Just after World War II, Michael should arrive at the wedding in full uniform.

Barry and Jack Ballard come into the room. He interrupts and tries to reassess. Ballard says NYC is too expensive. They also want it to be after Vietnam. Barry issues threats, and Francis walks out of the room.

Bob talks Al off of the ledge with a lesson in making things happen despite assholes like Barry.

A food company offers Colombo support. He laughs at the 10k offered. Put another zero on the back of that. Add the zero or he'll take his pen and stab him in the fuckin' eye.

Andrea is going over casting options for Brando. She and the others think there's no way it will work with Brando. She's against Brando. Low hanging fruit comes by Vic Damone to play Fontaine. He, too, wants to know if Fontaine is Sinatra. No. Fontaine is Vic Damone. He's in.

Sinatra is pissed Vic is working with them. He makes a call to Colombo. Frank thinks he calls the shots with Colombo, and Colombo lets him until he hangs up on him with a "fuck this guy."

Carlo Gambino and Lucchese call in Colombo to talk about the league. Colombo can't figure out what they want of him. They want him to stay in the shadows.

Mario, Francis, Al, and Bettye are front and center at Vic's show. Someone calls him out on taking the part, and Vic turns it down on stage.

Francis keeps stressing, but Al asks him to have more faith. Stay in budget and he'll go to hell for them.

Francoise and Bettye have drinks. Francoise wants to know what Al is hiding. Bettye doesn't talk, and it cements a friendship.

Casting for Michael finds a bunch of Robert Redford wannbes coming in and out, but Francis knows who Michael is -- Al Pacino.

Andrea doesn't think he's Bob's type, but Al says he doesn't have to date him.

Bob storms into Barry's office in New York to tell him to stay the hell off of his lot.

Al visits with a congressman named Biagi who refuses Al his request to film in New York.

His next stop is with Al Pacino. Pacino is uncomfortable with the lead as he doesn't think he's lead material. Pacino is so flattered hearing that Francis thinks he can do it and nobody else. Pacino is a starving actor at the time, and he takes full advantage of the menu.

Bob finds a dead rat inside the pages of The Godfather on his bed. Moments later, he gets a call wondering if the message was received.

Francoise and Al talk about Pacino, and she gets Al to talk about Mickey Cohen.

As they're making out, the phone rings. She refuses to let him answer, so he carries her to the bed to answer the phone.

It's Bob, and he's freaking out.

Outside, Bob is riding down the street. He doesn't know what Al got him into, but he better get him out of it or he's shutting down the goddamned picture.

Headlines the next day say that Bob's out at Paramount at the end of the month.

Francoise wants a croissant from the cart outside, and the mob demands Al get into the car.
