After losing her talk show and her marriage, Bethenny says she's having trouble opening up to new people so she sees her therapist, Dr. Amador. Afterwards Bethenny visits Miami and her friend Teri. She talks about her step-father who used to beat her mother. He had a gambling and drug problem. She hasn’t seen him in years but he’s trying to reconnect because he is the one father-figure who loved her and she wants her daughter to be connected to her family. The meeting is a bit rocky as John tells Bethenny that her mother never wanted a child, whereas Bethenny adores her daughter. Then John says he was angry with Bethenny because she didn’t talk to him for over 20 years. She reminds him that she was the child in this scenario and that she was eventually the one to reach out. The two decide to move forward.
Back in New York City, Ramona continues to celebrate her birthday with her girlfriends and Carole stil hasn't finished her book. Later, LuAnn heads to Miami to see her daughter's artwork being exhibited. It turns out to be a naked self portrait.
