Recap

In the cutest opening, we see Antonio's morning routine as he plays with his daughter, talks to locals, and buys fresh produce on the way to work. He's all smiles until he sees an upsetting video on his phone.

Sarita comments that Victoria needs to meet with some younger authors to get some ideas about becoming more relevant with younger authors, and Darby agrees. Antonio calls because someone posted a Jeckell and Hyde video of him.

He's yelling at his workers, and the comments are ruining him, and they're due to get a review in a few days. He swears he would never act like that. They both know that, and Darby promises to have Alastair examine the video.

Antonio doesn't want to tell Zane since he thinks he'll overreact, but all three of them are rotten liars.

Alastair confirms that it's a deep fake and that AI can create forgeries from photos and audio, and the videos Antonio did before the opening, he provided the perfect footage. It proved harder to find a suspect than they thought.

Antonio's neighbor originally complained about a patio extension but admitted Antonio kept the hours and music reasonable, and he and his buddies loved the cafe now.

Antonio then suspects Randy, the former head chef at Camurgue, where he used to work. He and Darby head there to sniff around, but Zane sees them take off.

Victoria meets with some millennial writers who think Bryn Martel should be younger and her novels are too formulic.

Antonio and Darby run into Jake at the restaurant, who's now the head chef. He knows Antonio wouldn't do those things and explains he fired Randy because he was toxic. He said things got better with Antonio in charge and isn't surprised Randy holds a grudge.

Victoria is annoyed that Sarita wants her to meet with another author, historical novelist Sheldon Marcasi. She then meets Darby and hears her playing the tape for Randy. He denies it but is happy Antonio met his karma. They see rat traps in there.

When they return to the cafe, they have to lie to Zane again. The next day. Hannah tried to get Antonio to come to the kitchen, but it was too late. A white rat got loose in the dining room, and it closed down the cafe.

Antonio doesn't understand, but Darby finds a loose screen and asks the exterminator to look at it. Zane arrives, angry, since he learned about the video and the rats. Darby apologizes and says that Antonio thought he'd be overprotective.

Victoria meets with Sheldon and learns he's really Shandon Mayberry, a thriller writer. He tries to teach her that she needs more misfortune, sex, and exciting tech in her mysteries.

Zane and Darby realize Hannah messed with the screen, so they spy on her and confront her. Zane gets in her face and barely lets her explain that she was trying to help, and she quits.

Victoria takes her writing frustration out on a watermelon, and Darby asks why she listened to this guy.

Antonio freaks out that Hannah quit, and he's stressed out about money since he maxed out their credit paying for the patio. Zane isn't happy about the secrets, but he believes in Antonio.

He suggests asking his parents for a loan because they have their daughter to think about, too, but that upsets Antonio.

The exterminator tells Darby the rats were domesticated and came from a pet store. The Spencers learn at the 11th store that Randy ordered a bunch of white rats, but he denies it again.

When Victoria does a pan flip, Darby recognizes that move from the video and that the chef is left-handed.

When Antonio visits Jake and asks for work, Jake offers him his old job back and seems overly excited that Antonio is returning. When Darby and Victoria relay their suspicions to Zane, he's horrified since Antonio is with Jake.

Darby calls Antonio to warn him, and he has to play dumb, but Jake is suspicious and becomes threatening. As the Spencers arrive, Jake pulls a knife on Antonio, saying he deserted him when they had a good thing going.

Victoria was ready to hit him with a wok when Zane arrived. Later, Antonio's restaurant got the review it deserved, and Hannah returned.

Darby returned home to hear Sheldon berating her mom, so defended her, and Victoria kicked him out.
