We learn about the man who claims to be the Dragon Reborn and how he has a following of many supporters and believers.

Moiraine finally gets healed as she is now with her fellow Aes Sedai sisters.

Liandrin and Moiraine clearly do not like each other, but they both agree that the man, Logain, needs to be kept inside of a magic cage, which requires two Aes Sedai to maintain at all times.

Now that Moiraine is healed, she takes up some of the work.

Lan and Nynaeve are stuck with each other and get to know one another better.

Perrin and Egwene follow the travelers (led by Ida) east, as they find them to be a safe and welcoming bunch.

Mat and Rand head east with Thom, as he is the only person that they've run into that they can even begin to trust.

Liandrin tries to get Nynaeve to join the women and hone in on her power, but Nynaeve doesn't trust her (neither does Lan).

Later on, Nynaeve and Lan join the other Warders around a campfire, where she learns more about the bond between an Aes Sedai and her Ward.

Rand has horrible nightmares about Mat, and wakes up to Thom shaking him awake because he was screaming in his sleep. Thom and Rand notice that Mat is gone.

Mat has gone into the main house of the barn they are staying at, where the entire family lies bloody and slain.

Mat is holding his knife up, leaving Rand and Thom to assume that he slaughtered the family.

Luckily, Mat did not kill them. Unluckily, what did kill them is revealed to be a fade, and starts to attack the group.

Rand and Mat run away, leaving Thom to fight the evil being on his own.

The next day, the worst thing that could've happened to the Aes Sedai happened. Logain's army of followers attacked.

The battle waged lasted a while, with Nynaeve defending herself and the Aes Sedai using their powers to defend.

Once they all retreat to the cave Logain is located in, they find that one of their sisters has been killed, which breaks the heart of her Ward, Stepin.

He attacks Logain out of anger, which gives Logain the ability to break free of his magical barrier and explode the axes and hurt everyone in the room.

Some people could avoid the shrapnel, and others weren't so lucky.

Moiraine gets a broken piece of wood through her stomach, and Lan gets a piece of metal sliced through his neck.

Nynaeve manages to get through it without too much major damage and runs to Lan to try and stop his bleeding.

She's pleading with the world, with anything, that he won't die, and when she cries out, a large dome of light emits from her.

This dome of light reaches everyone in the room and heals them (except the dead). Lan is healed, Moiraine is healed, all of their strength returned.

Before everyone realizes what happened, Logain tries to attack with his magic, and the Aes Sedai immediately spring into action.

All of the Aes Sedai present work together to contain Logain, and Liandrin takes away his ability to use the magic.

Once the issue of Logain settles, everyone turns to Nynaeve wondering where that insane magical ability came from.
