This Is Us Season 4 Episode 12 is the second part of a trilogy of episodes, this one featuring Kevin.

After arguing with a director about the ending of a project he's working on, Kevin gets a call from Sophie. Her mother has died.

Kevin remembers Claire being encouraging after he got a non-speaking role on Days of Our Lives and also that Claire told him he needed to earn her mother's ring for Sophie. He goes to the funeral but doesn't talk to Sophie.

Afterward, Kevin gets donuts and calls Sophie. She wants to get away from the funeral for a while. She and Kevin go for a drive and talk. Sophie was in her mother's favorite coffee shop when she got the call and now can never go to that shop again. Kevin tells her that it takes time, but she will. He takes her to the cabin in the woods where his childhood ended.

Kevin and Sophie remember as college students that they went to see Good Will Hunting but the movie theatre had a technical problem and they never saw the ending. They watch it now and then Sophie goes home.

Kevin returns to LA and goes to Kate's house, where he finds Madison by herself. They talk about her latest breakup.

The next day, Kevin is in bed with Madison when Randall calls. He calls Kate and finds out she's in a bad way too.

Meanwhile, in the distant past, Jack tries to find a sheep mobile that Kevin can't sleep without and learns that Rebecca gave it away.
