Jane The Virgin Season 2: 9 Things We Learned From Gina Rodriguez

at .

6. Gina Rodriguez as mom…someday

The actress said that between what Jane has gone through and her siblings in real life, she's definitely thought about how she’ll be there for her own children down the line: "One thing I learned with my sisters' progression is everything you write is a chapter you're going to tell your child. So I'm trying to write the best chapters I can. I want to give them a good book."

7. Pen to paper

Speaking of writing, the actress is putting pen to paper about what she learned from an important person in her life: I’m writing a book, 'I Can and I Will; Tools My Daddy Gave Me' and it'll be tools to navigate through life for teenagers – positivity, productivity, ambitious, driven, encouraging – and just kind of tell them how I go about my life and how I have gone about my life. And stories from my experience and my failures and my successes and how those tools my dad gave me pertain to them and assisted them." She added that all the tools are ones she’s used in the rollercoaster of the year she’s just lived through.

8. She learned from movie greats

The actress also said that the set of Deepwater Horizon was a great experience for her: "I actually learned a lot from this movie I just did that I wrapped on Friday with Mark Wahlberg and – giants! – Kurt Russell and John Malkovich and Kate Hudson. The way that they preserved themselves and their hearts and their sanity and their honesty and their truth was really, really helpful to going into this next journey with Jane and making sure and reminding myself that I'm going to stay present and I'm going to enjoy it every day and I'm going to enjoy this, all of this, and not let it pass me by."

9. Lessons learned

What's the number-one thing Rodriguez learned from Jane during the last season? "To just be patient. Everything's going to happen in its right time. It doesn't need to happen right away. It doesn't need to happen like you think it looks. "And I think that was really needed. To be like, 'It's okay when it happens when it's supposed to happen,' and 'If it doesn't happen today that doesn't mean that it's never gonna happen.' It just means at the time it's supposed to come"

Jane the Virgin Quotes

Jane: Oh, I'm no good at this stuff. So, instead of telling you the reasons that I love you, I'm going to tell you the reasons that I don't. I don't love you because you're smart and kind. I don't love you because you're hardworking and competitive and way too defensive.
Michael: I'm not defensive.
Jane: I don't love you because you're incredibly sexy. I love you because you're my best friend and I want to grow old with you. And right now, I am confused about every single thing in my life, except you.

Rafael: No, I really think we've met.
Jane: I don't usually wear clam shells.
Rafael: Oh, the strip club on Piscayne?
Jane: Jerk.
