Stephen Nichols

Stephen Nichols is one of the most enduring stars of daytime TV, where he recently returned to the role of Steve "Patch" Johnson on Days of Our Lives.*

His original portrayal (1985-1990) earned him status as one of the most notable presences on TV, second only to Bill Cosby in the TV-Q ratings, along with an Emmy nod for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role and five Soap Opera Digest Best Actor Awards.

Steve and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) remain one of the most popular couples, and the most-covered, on Days of Our Lives in the show's 42-year history.

Stephen also portrayed Stefan Cassadine on General Hospital (1996-2002, 2003). This role reunited him with Evans, while he was later paired with Genie Francis when his character was given a relationship with Laura.

Other TV appearances have included Matlock, L.A. Law, Diagnosis Murder, The Nanny (with former Days of Our Lives co-star Charles Shaughnessy), Second Chances, Sisters, a recurring role on Empty Nest, and playing Jesse James opposite Pierce Brosnan in Around the World in 80 Days.

* In December 2009, he was cast as Tucker McCall on The Young and the Restless.

Days of Our Lives Quotes

Kate

Deimos: I believe that the younger generation in this family have been handed everything on a silver platter, and they don't appreciate it.
Maggie: By younger generation, you must mean Sonny.
Deimos: All right, fine. Let's start with Sonny. I'm trying to work with him, Maggie. I've just given him a very important position in the company and instead of being grateful for the opportunity, he's being an oversensitive, temperamental pain in my neck. But at least he's still here. Brady, on the other hand, he's taken off, abandoned the family, Titan. He's left me all alone to deal with the Hernandez family on my own.
Maggie: Well, there's an easy solution to the Dimera and the Hernandez families. Just bow out.
Deimos: I do that and I lose face.
Maggie: With whom?
Deimos: With everyone. Except Nicole. She's taken off too.
Maggie: And to think I naively thought that maybe I'd gotten through to you the last time we had a serious conversation. Let me ask you a question. Has doing things your way gotten you anywhere?
