Shonda Rhimes: Derek Loves Meredith!

at . Comments

After Shonda Rhimes and TV Guide's Michael Ausiello exchanged words about the critic's review of Private Practice, the producer of both shows gave him some hot scoop concerning the Grey's Anatomy embattled supercouple.

If you don't mind Grey's Anatomy spoilers, follow the jump to read her comments on Meredith and Derek, as well as another couple we know ...

"I want to be clear that Derek loves Meredith," Shonda Rhimes said, as if to put the debate over Lexie Grey to rest once and for all. "Derek loves Meredith more than anything. I can't imagine Derek going anyplace else other than Meredith."

And as if to butter up the TV Guide sleuth even more, the Grey's Anatomy creator and executive producer handed him the biggest gift a Grey's Anatomy fan could ask for (at least in his opinion): a death certificate with O'Mizzie's name.

Oh, O'Mizzie

"A lot of people aren't sold on Izzie and George," Rhimes acknowledged. "I think the mistake that everyone makes is that we are telling you Izzie and George are the love story of the century; they're not the love story of the century. When other people find out about Izzie and George ... remember, people don't know about them yet â€" other people might think that's not a good idea either."

Lastly, on the red carpet, James Pickens Jr. teased that there will be some drama surrounding Richard's living situation (i.e., you won't believe who's moving in next door)! Interesting! Comments?

That is VERY interesting!
She says, "Derek loves Meredith more than anything. I can't imagine Derek going anyplace else other than Meredith." I hate to think this, but I have to wonder: did Shonda Rhimes purposefully ONLY mention Derek being fully committed, as if to say Meredith might not be?.......oh dear.

I hope that there will not be any MerDer next season. Derek really screwed up by forcing Meredith into giving him an answer...
Mark and Meredith are much cuter together=P.
I am really glad there will not be any more O'Mizzie=).
And now I really really really want to know who is going to live next door to the Webbers...
Anyway, thanks for sharing this news=).

thank you guys, you made my day!!!

I am so excited about the news on Mer/Der! Even though we have been hearing through spoilers that they would be back together, it makes you feel even better hearing it comie from Shonda! I'm so glad to hear her say that there wouldn't be anybody for Derek ..but Meredith! Finally, us Mer/Der fans can get a sigh of relief! It was such a long depressing summer thinking of how they left things at the end of the season! BUt, it sounds as if things are off to a good start for this season and things are going to be fine with them! I loved the interview of Patrick @ the race track last week-end saying that..."what everybody wants to happen...will happen! I know he and Ellen are as excited about it as us fans are! They commented over the summer how they hope things worked out for them as a couple! The ET interview of them shown last week was so cute too! They were so cute and giddy together, which again proves to everybody how much they enjoy working together. The way they just looked at each other and smiled and laughed at everything the other said! THey were just so cute! Can't wait until tonights episode and naturally next week!

I'd love to see George and Izzie hook up. They have excellent chemistry. Much like Meredith and Derek, who, by the way, BETTER BE HAPPY AS KIDS IN A CANDY STORE THIS SEASON...I'm okay.

Yeah but will MerDer have achance at happiness this season?!?!?!?!!?!?

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

When we say things like "people don't change" it drives scientist crazy because change is literally the only constant in all of science. Energy. Matter. It's always changing, morphing, merging, growing, dying. It's the way people try not to change that's unnatural. The way we cling to what things were instead of letting things be what they are. The way we cling to old memories instead of forming new ones. The way we insist on believing despite every scientific indication that anything in this lifetime is permanent. Change is constant. How we experience change that's up to us. It can feel like death or it can feel like a second chance at life. If we open our fingers, loosen our grips, go with it, it can feel like pure adrenaline. Like at any moment we can have another chance at life. Like at any moment, we can be born all over again.

Callie: Did anyone ever think you two were a couple?
Meredith: No, because we screw boys like whores on tequila.
Cristina: Then we either try to marry them or drown ourselves.
Callie: Huh.
