Mark Schlerth played 12 seasons in the NFL and is currently a football analysts on ESPN. But daytime fans simply known him as Roc Hoover on Guiding Light.

Here are a few highlights of an interview he conducted with CBS:

CBS.com: How is it returning to GL?
Mark Schlerth: It's great. I'm excited. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, it's like a big family and I've been welcomed with open arms. The people have been great to me. I have no acting skills and I've never aspired to be an actor. Everyone has been very kind.

CBS.com: How did this role come about?
Mark Schlerth: Rob Decina, who is the casting director for Guiding Light, is a fan of ESPN. He watches sports. I got an email from Allison, Rob's assistant, who said that they were a fan of my work and wanted to know if I'd be interested to do some work on the show.

A week later, I was doing a cold read and that was it, next thing you know I'm doing a little guest spot here and there and it seems like my role is starting to grow and that's exciting.
