An Interview with Leighton Meester

by at . Comments

Let the Leighton Meester content barrage continue! When she's not monkeying around off the set, she's giving actual interviews!

The 21-year-old Gossip Girl cutie was recently interviewed by a popular celebrity gossip site, Just Jared. Here are some highlights...

JJ: How did you spend your Valentine's Day?
Leighton Meester: I was in Toronto and spent the day there. I got a couples massage with my castmate Nicole Fiscella. We went back to L.A., a friend of mine came over and we watched a movie together.

JJ: Since you've lived in NYC for 10 years already, where do you love to frequent for food and shopping?
Leighton Meester: I live in the West Village, so I love all of the local restaurants - The Spotted Pig, Sant Ambroeus. As for shopping, I love the boutiques on the Lower East Side but I still love to spend my money at Barneys and Macy's.

JJ: Are your friends from New York? Hollywood? Elementary school?
Leighton Meester: I have one friend that I've had since I was 11. Other than that, my friends are from the past few years. I don't really keep in touch with anybody from high school, oddly enough. But yeah, I keep in touch with just real people who are nice to me. (laughs)

JJ: What kind of music can we expect to hear from you since you've been recording in the studio?
Leighton Meester: It's electronic-y, some electric guitar, some keyboard. I have a huge range of songs. Some of them I just talk, I do a little - not rapping - but talking, sort of spoken word. It's a little Fergie, a little like Gwen Stefani and M.I.A.

JJ: Will there be dancing involved in your music somehow?
Leighton Meester: I don't think I'm going to be dancing but I definitely could! My nickname used to be Happy Feet. If I'm standing there and music is playing on set, I'll be doing this. (bops up and down) People used to be like, ‘Why are you Happy Feet? You need to stop that now.'

JJ: Have you had formal dance and vocal training?
Leighton Meester: When I was little, I went to take dance classes for years. Ballet, jazz and during high school, modern dance. Now that I think about it, I've been singing and dancing my entire life.

JJ: Who would you like to collaborate with on your album?
Leighton Meester: It's hard to say, there are so many up and coming people. I would want to work with a band. I'd love to meet my favorite artists, meet them, hang out with them and just jam. Not necessarily record.

JJ: Which artists do you love at the moment?
Leighton Meester: I love Chris Cornell. It's really weird. Not the type of music that I make but he has such a powerful and beautiful voice. I love Incubus. They have a really good mixture of electric sounds with true band and his (Brandon Boyd) voice... he's hot.

JJ: Do you write your own music?
Leighton Meester: I write lyrics and collaborate with my producer. His name is Shahine Ezell. He's also an actor and we met working on a movie called Remember the Daze. It's coming out next month on the 11th.

Blair: Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It's movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be. Just like your scarf suggests that you'd like to sell used cars.
Dan: Vanessa gave me this scarf.
