Katherine Heigl to Remain on Grey's Anatomy (For Now)

by at . Comments

Rest assured, Gizzie fans. Katherine Heigl isn't going anywhere.

Despite swirling reports that the Emmy-winning actress wants to leave the cast of Grey's Anatomy to concentrate on her burgeoning movie career, a rep for Katherine tells OK! Magazine that they're nothing more than rumors.

"She is starting work next week," the rep for Heigl said. "She is returning to Grey's Anatomy and filming a movie at the same time."

Staying Put For Now

It's not like the 29-year-old newlywed could necessarily bolt Seattle Grace Hospital even if she were intent on it. Katherine Heigl still has two years left on her three-year contract and bailing could result in litigation or heavy fines.

Still, rumors have persisted that she wants out.

"If it were up to her, she would have her character killed off," a source quoted by OK! and several other tabloids stated. "She fears if she waits much longer, the moment will pass [in launching a film career]."

Early last year, Heigl dropped out of contract negotiations over a salary dispute, citing disappointment that "Touchstone doesn't value her as much as her Grey's Anatomy costars," though she eventually re-signed.

Here's hoping that Katherine Heigl and the rest of the Grey's Anatomy cast remain intact and under contract for many seasons to come.

If she ever did leave to pursue a movie career (even though she has one now) I would vow to not watch her movies. You got to have some loyalty to the people who made you big (fans including) Sara Jessica Parker did not have more success after SATC, though I'm sure she thought she would.
Anyhow, I'm glad to hear she is staying.

Oh stop about the george and Izzie chemistry. The whole thing was a joke. There was no inkling they fancied each other in season three until scars and souvenirs. It's just wrong. Plain wrong. If they did have chemistry maybe i could get on board. Can you imagine george and Izzie having exam room sex or getting it on in a bath tub. I hate MerDer but i can't deny their chemistry. I'm sorry but george and izzie don't match.

Alex and Izzie, I HATE them together, they make me vomit, George and Izzie are amazing Plus, I always secretely wished Will was not gay because he and Grace had more chemistry together than any of their other romantic love interests
Katie cannot leave or we would lose Gizzie

Uh hello, not so bright Jacqui, if Katie leaves, we lose our Gizzie for good, and Gizzie with MerDer is my favorite thing on the show. The only good thing about Izzie leaving would be no more threat of a disgusting, gross puketastic lex and Izzie reunion,. I hate Lexziepuke

We are talking about KH leaving , not bloody Gizzie here.

I'm not really bothered if she goes or stays. One good thing about her going is Gizzie would be over for good! Will and Grace would finally be gone and i can look at a full episode of GA finally without fastforwarding or vomiting.

Thank you, George and Izzie are why I watch this show, if they were over for good with no hope, I could not take that.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

Lexie: [narrating] Grief may be a thing we all have in common, but it looks different on everyone.
Mark: It isn't just death we have to grieve. It's life. It's loss. It's change.
Alex: And when we wonder why it has to suck so much sometimes, has to hurt so bad. The thing we gotta try to remember is that it can turn on a dime.
Izzie: That's how you stay alive. When it hurts so much you can't breathe, that's how you survive.
Derek: By remembering that one day, somehow, impossibly, you won't feel this way. It won't hurt this much.
Bailey: Grief comes in its own time for everyone, in its own way.
Owen: So the best we can do, the best anyone can do, is try for honesty.
Meredith: The really crappy thing, the very worst part of grief is that you can't control it.
Arizona: The best we can do is try to let ourselves feel it when it comes.
Callie: And let it go when we can.
Meredith: The very worst part is that the minute you think you're past it, it starts all over again.
Cristina: And always, every time, it takes your breath away.
Meredith: There are five stages of grief. They look different on all of us, but there are always five.
Alex: Denial.
Derek: Anger.
Bailey: Bargaining.
Lexie: Depression.
Richard: Acceptance.
