Grey's Anatomy > Shonda Rhimes Discusses Erica and Callie > Comments Page 2
What a brilliantly crafted piece of television! The writing has a coherence and layering that is pretty damn rare in television, and the acting was, at times, breathtaking. Special thanks to the writers for not chickening out on the Callie / Erica relationship developing. For those of us who know what we're talking about, it's spot on. Thanks to the writers for removing our invisibility, and to the actors for bringing it to us.
I loved the season finale of Grey's!!! I watched it last night, so I am two weeks behind. I am straight, but also support gays. I think Callie and Hahn will be great together. I think Callie may have always been gay because her love for George actually seemed more forced than Hahn's. Callie was the man in relationship with George, but the roles have switched with her and Hahn. I think next season will be great and I love the new romances and stories that will unfold. Does anyone think Rose is pregnant? I have a feeling that Der won't come back to Mer because Rose will be expecting!!!
To sarah: What you are saying is entirely ignant!!!! I understand that everyone has their views but who are you to talk down on people like that. The show is great, and if you really hate gay people that much maybe you should have stopped watching grey's a long time ago because TR knight (George) he's gay in real life in fact thats the reason why Burke got fired in the first place because he called him a faggot. I loved Burke's character but he screwed up and he deserved to be fired. You also keep saying Erica hahn is ugly in case you never knew not everyone is going to be up to your standard of pretty, she is pretty fine to alot of people. Views like that make people hate the way they look and go through dramatic extremes to change. You have no right to coment or judge anyone you need to take along look at yourself and who you are inside, because you certainly must have some deep issues within or outward to be that malicious
Callie/Erica wasn't expecting them to make callie be interesting in Hahn but any fool could realize they were gonna do that from addison came back..Personally I don't have a problem with it, I think it makes the show interested I'm tired of only hoping on Merder relationship, it was time for something new. For those who oppose you are all being ignorant this is 2008 gay people are apart of our society and since grey's is a revolutionary show that touches on every aspect of reality it only made sense to include a story line like this. I'm so looking forward to this story line in season 5.
omg! Izzie and Bailey would be amazing! I've personally have wanted it since day one. Go back to the first season and see how loving Bailey is with Izzie. She's always loved Izzie more than any of the other interns. Make it happen, Shonda.
To Tee: Totally agree with you, i hope we will see much more Callie/Erica in next season!
We have one good, whole, and true friendship on Grey's Anatomy. Cristina and Meredith. That friendship is sometimes what makes the episodes. Why can you not leave Callie and Hahn with a true friendship? Why ruin it by forcing these characters to be lesbians? I wasn't aware that ABC would even allow homosexual action like has been in the past few episodes. I have to say that I am extremely dissapointed as I expected more from this show. There are so many other things you can do with these two characters than grossing your audience out with lesbian kissing. I trust that you will fix this so that I and many others can continue watching the show and keep our supper down at the same time.
Thank you Doc and Nicole. Sarah should get a life, we are no longer living in the 1920's. Erica is certaingly not ugly, her assertivness is very attractive and I think that her and Callie make a great couple. It is not often that we see gay women on tv, other then programmes that have homosexuality as there central theme (L word), it is refreshing. Sheperd and Meredith are stale and its time for something, or someone new to revive the show to its former glory. Well done to Shonda and the team. I hope that the obviously passion filled kiss exchanged between Erica and Callie will develop into something. I eagerly await the season 5.
To Sarah: GET A LIFE!!
I think that it is someones personality that people fall in love with.
I think its cute that erica and callie are together.
I also think its great to put on for people who are qustioning their sexualty.
For the people who don't like erica(brook smith) I really just don't understand why. She's a charatear who tells the truth stright out to someone. And she is not ugly!
For the record I would like to tell you people that I'm stright. I just support gays.
And those of you who will not watch grey's anthomy because of gays then you should of stoped wathing grey's anthomy a long time ago because T.R knight is gay.
I have to agree with my friend Anne in that I think Erica and Callie should have remianed friends to show the power of friendship. However, I think the issue of homosexuality in women is a vital one. However, I think that a relationship between Izzie and Bailey would have been a better choice on Shonda's part. Their chemistry in the scene where Bailey gives Izziethe clinic is explosive!! Also, it's a perfect time as both characters do not have much going on. Izzie is hanging on Alex's plot line and Bailey is newly single. It would be really interesting to see how they would raise young Tuck. Their relationship would be one of contrasts: woman/woman, black/white, old/young, established doctor/not established, pretty/ugly, short/tall. I think it'll happen. Hold thumbs guys.
To sarah, your comment is backward and confused. Its a shame that there are intolerant people like you in this world. I am a lesbian and I do not feel that love is a privelage afforded only to heterosexuals. Love is a right. Callie and Erica have a blatant and obvious chemistry that has been building up for four episodes. Their kiss was an awsome ending to an amazing finale. Well done
I have to agree, the Hahn-Callie thing seems rushed and/or forced. mamaloa nailed my feelings pretty clearly: they've laid the foundation of Erica saying she dates men; she'd probably date Mark if they weren't coworkers, etc... then we return from the strike to WHAM, let's have Callie develop feelings for Erica and push the boundaries of TV once again.
I was truly enjoying the great friendship that Callie and erica were building. But does everything have to lead to a sexual relationship on GA? Apparently so.
I am just going to start buy saying that I have absolutely loved Grey's Anatomy. It was like the greatest show ever until now. I hated hated the Erica Calie thing. I think Calie should get with Mark and Erica should leave the show. I haven't like her from the first time they showed her fighting with Berk over a heart. I would way rather have Berk back. I am going to have to say this season was not that great compared to the others. The Erica Calie thing made me sick. Homosexuals try to say that they are in love with a person of the same sex, but this shows that it is not love, it is nothing but perversion. They are not in love with each other they just want to get with each other. That is all homosexuality is, a sexual perversion. I hated it. I can not keep watching the show if this continues to be this way. I hate it because up until the last three episodes it was my favorite show of all time. Everyone I know that watches the show was totally disgusted with it as well and refuses to w
I love Gizzie and they were not a flop. They were the best couple that ever was on this show.
I have not watched one episode since they ended.
George and Izzie are nothing like Erica and Callie, a lot of us have been waiting for them to get together since day 1 and a lot of us have quit the show since they ended, me included. So I would not call them a flop, they had at least half the fanbase watching just for them.
The fact that some people hated them does not mean it was a flop especially not when they have so many loyal fans.
Erica and Callie have been coming for 4 episodes, they were traces of Izzxie having feelings for George all the way back to season 2.
I loved the Grey's finale more than any other this season (except for my fav LOST...which isn't until tonight), and thought that the writers handled the Callie/Hahn relationship realistically and with respect.
It will be very interesting to watch the growth of their relationship, wherever it may take them. There is no need to label it now; two of the top surgeons at Seattle Grace have new and strong feelings for one another, and they happen to be women. It is more common than you might think.
And there are plenty of opportunities to make it entertaining (Callie shares an apt. with Christina, and won't that be a surprise for her one morning).
Bravo to Shonda and all involved.
I am with Beth on this! Sexuality is NOT cut and dry. You are attracted to who you are attracted to. Sometimes its men and sometimes it is women. This is a very difficult thing for "straight" women to realize. Kudos to Grey's for showing a dimension of the experience of being woman that most shows are too afraid to touch. The last time I saw this was Sex and the City when Samantha was in a realationship with a woman - and that didn't fail because it was with a woman, it failed because Sam was no good at committed relationships.
So, people, open your minds and hearts and prepare for a great next season!
The writer's strike forced Shonda and co. to speed this relationship along. If we had of been given the regular amount of episodes it may not have seen like such a sudden thing.
I think it's a great storyline, i really like the chemistry between these 2 and i can't wait to see what will happen next season.
i completely agree with mamaloa! I really liked the whole thing between Mark/Hahn and calliee....dude thats just messed up! I have nothing against lesbians but this is just a ridiculous pairing. Ever since Hahn came in the show shez been implying her striaghtness and we come back from the strike to find her gay! The finale was awesome...i think in the whole finale my least favorite scene was the kiss between Hahn/ Callie...no offense to anyone..that's just my opinion!
I do not like the Hahn/Callie relationship at all. Since when is Callie gay? I've been watching her for 2 Seasons, and there was never any indication that she was gay. I also would like to see Hahn with Mark. I really don't understand how Callie/Hahn would want each other, instead of Mark. They should be fighting for him!!!! What was all this talk from Erica saying to Christina that she dates men, and calling the two gorgeous men, Pretty and Prettier. Always commenting on how good looking they are. Telling Mark that if they weren't working together that she would consider him. She implied it. Sorry, folks, but this makes me sick.
Just wanted to comment on the use of the word lesbian to describe Callie. Sexuality isn't cut and dry. Just because Callie may be involved with Erica Hahn in the future doesn't mean that she is a lesbian. She could be bisexual. Some people prefer not to label their sexuality at all, saying that there are no sexual orientations only sexual experiences.
I like the way the storyline is going with Hahn but.....I think she is hot for Yang. The writers could go alot of diifferent ways with that one! I think they shoulld keep Hahn gay for sure....great storyline!!
ewww. i don't like them together at all! i like callie the way she is and think her and mark should keep whatever they have going. i don't like hahn at all and think she should be fired. she doesn't live up to the expectations of a greys cast member because she is simply boring, ugly and doesn't have anough drama in her life. i want her gone.(:
