With all due respect, Isaiah Washington-- given the nature of the reason ABC so hastily let Brooke go, why should you even have a comment to make? Wasn't your exit the direct result of a gay slur you made towards a very respected colleague of yours? And your fighting with PD as well? Amazing the gull you have even commenting on the situation! That is my take. Period.
As for Brooke, unbelievably unfortunate situation. What were the suits of the network thinking? She's a great actress. If they disapproved of the storyline, then they should have insisted the writers rewrite in a different direction. Hahn was not my favorite character, but Brooke did act the part seamlessly. And Hahn had a lot of potential for further character development.
As for

Really, what planet are you from? Your comments are bizarre. Your comment here offensive.

Here's what needs to happen for the show to be saved: Shonda Rhimes needs to grow a spine. The reason we no longer have Burke or Hahn, and the fact that the directions of the stories, and screen time imbalances have occurred so much since the beginning of Season 4 (after Burke "left") is because Shonda isn't standing up to the Network's bullying. She buckles and does everything they want her to. If she would simply stand her ground and say "my way or the highway", the show would not suffer. If she simply told ABC she was packing her bags unless they gave her the majority of control over the direction the show moves in, there would be no problem. But in actuality, she bends to what they want, so we see people like Washington and Smith FIRED, and *gasp* gay relationships WRITTEN OUT of the script. It extends beyond these blatantly obvious blunders: look at the lobotomized relationships between George and Izzie, the laughable impaling of Christina with an icicle...

Sorry in advance if my words offend Burke's fans. I feel like IW is using this incident to "protest" to the writers, rather than to have real sympathy on Brooke. It seems to me like he is asking the writers to *invite* him back to the show (but interestingly did not mention about bringing Brooke back though he said he was so sorry about her firing issue).

I hope he doesn´t. come back, I mean. I think the show is great as it is, and this guy is just taking advantage of the circumstances to make this whole thing about HIM. Whatever he did or didn´t do, I still think that GA doesn´t need him back, and by the by, if he did come back, I would stop watching the show if Cristina even thought about taking him back. I mean, he dumped her at the altar and send not only Derek to tell her that he wasn´t coming back, but also his mother!!! I mean, please! And Dr. Hunt, the new one, is so perfect for Cristina...
as for Erica, I don´t really care why she was let go, but her character was not very nice and her relationship with Callie was so fake, I won´t really miss her.
Maybe the "cardio surgeon" is a cursed job, you know? like the defense against the dark arts teacher in Harry Potter...

While I love the idea of having Burke back, I'm not that happy about the idea of having Isaiah Washington back.
About Brooke Smith's firing, Shonda Rhimes and her writers created this storyline. I'm still shocked that they let executives and homophobic viewers demolish the arc of two characters, Callie AND Erica. I had been enjoying Season 4 SO MUCH and now they will have to scramble to fill this void.
ABC is CRAZY!

Isaiah is not doing himself any favours by commenting publicly on the Brooke Smith firing, but then again he probably knows there is no chance of going back to Grey's so does not care really.
The writers should have realised the Hahn & Callie story was not really working, and made changes to the script, not stick it out and wait for the network to step in.
For the public it was very sudden finding out that Brooke was leaving, but the whole cast & crew must have known for sometime, they would have been filming episodes without her in for awhile now.

I'm not sure it was right for Isiah to make comments about Brooke's firing. I understand why he did, he is trying to pacify people and show he has changed his way's. But cheapening it by saying bring Burke back, was just a shameless plug. Almost as if he is saying the show is nothing without him and he can save it from its downfall. While I can't deny he was a great character, he doesn't appear to be a good person.
Brooke Smith on the flip side seemed to be a great person, with a badly written character. People say they hated Hahn, but that isn't her fault. She played it as she was told to. Which in my eyes was excellent. She was a character that people loved to hate. Though slowly they began to chip away at the hard exterior and fans of the show started to like the character even, dare I say it, feel for her as she let her guard drop (Leaves anyone?) I feel that it was wrong of ABC to punish her for a writers judgement. If the character was not getting the response they wanted, th

I agree. It doesn't make sense to punish an actor for doing his/her job. The writers and probably more Shonda should've been counselled for what ABC thought was "wrong" or whatever. I think there's something else. And hopefully it'll make it's way into the open soon.
I think there is more here than meets the eye as Alexholic says that maybe the writer should have been fired too. Brooke was only doing her job as prescribed by the writers, so the main fault should be with the writers and not with the actress. And if this is not the case, then there could have been more to this than what we are being told.
I think ABC should admit that they have made, not one but two stupid mistakes regarding Grey's Anatomy, firstly they should never had fired Isaiah Washington as that was a personal issue that would have been sorted out between TJ, Patrick and Isaiah themselves. Secondly, the firing of Brooke which is something of a mystery to me.
Season 4 was poor compared to the other 3 seasons, this was put down to the writers strike, but I think that the vaccum left by Isaiah Washington was a major contributing factor. Just as Grey's is starting to fire on all fronts this Season, ABC throw another spanner in the works.

To Maddiexoxo: WORD on MerDer. They need more screentime...is it that hard to show a happy couple doing couply things? Ugh, something good has to come out of all the Hahn drama and get them from 2 to...OMFG, dare I say 5 minutes? Seriously.
Maybe Burke should be back just for a couple of episodes, to close the story. I dunno...just a thought. :)

I agree 100% with his opinion on the firing issue. He has everything right. I find it very interesting that he would come back to the show if given the chance. I had no idea that he had any wish of returning. That said, I think bringing Burke back to Grey's would do wonders for the show. Overall, season 5 is turning out to be a decent season so far, but looking over the past five seasons that Grey's has been on the air I think it is fairly obvious that the show is slowly spiraling downwards. I fear for the show in the near future, especially after Brooke's firing, and bringing Washington back would show maturity on ABC's part and would make for a very interesting plot twist as well. I absolutely do not condone what Washington was fired for doing/saying, but that doesn't mean he can't be given a second chance.

When will Isaiah realize... he's not wanted back on the cast. Haha. Good luck ever trying to get back onto Grey's Anatomy. I think the way that ABC handled Brooke Smith's letting go was a bit silly... but ... I think it was time for Dr. Hahn to leave anyways. I for one was bored with her character... in fact i really disliked her character. I also... got sick of the Callica relationship really quickly. It didn't really do anything for me. It was great that they wanted to, and tried to explore that kind of relationship on the show. But, it turned pretty crappy nearing it's end anyway. I for one am happy to see Dr. Hahn go. Now they can get back to more important story lines. Like, maybe putting more than 2 minutes of the Meredith and Derek relationship on each episode. They have made some progress, but not enough... because of the lack of screen time. All I'm asking for is 5-6 minutes...like we used to get. None of this, 30 seconds business. That's just silly! Bringing Burke back would probably be the lifeline Grey's needs right now. Last week's episode was far below it's potential, so far to the point that I'm actually starting to lose faith in this show. The best episode by far is the one where Alex and Izzie declare that they're "all in." Other then that, it's been disappointing. Spice it up a little writers!
