After months of speculation and rumors quelched, Gossip Girl is indeed spinning off one of its characters ... sort of. She'll be going back in time and will be played by someone else.

The CW has ordered a pilot for a new series centered around a young Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) in '80s L.A. No cast members will be leaving the original Gossip Girl.
