Melissa George Leaving Grey's Anatomy
Shortly after Sunday's Golden Globes, Melissa George (Sadie) presented Entertainment Weekly with a doozy of a scoop: She's leaving Grey's Anatomy, STAT.
"It was my choice," the actress-slash-Golden Globe nominee (for In Treatment) confirmed at HBO's red-hot after-party, held poolside at the Beverly Hilton.
"My last day of work is Tuesday."
But lest we think this is yet another in a long line of rocky Grey's Anatomy exits (see also: Isaiah Washington, Brooke Smith, possibly T.R. Knight), George, who joined the ABC medical drama last November as Mer's maybe-gay BFF, is leaving on the best of terms.
"I love the show so much," she gushes. "I've made some beautiful friends. I love T.R. Knight. I love Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers ... I adore Ellen Pompeo. I think she's a strong, incredible woman. And Katherine Heigl is the most beautiful creature on Earth."
Then why leave?
Melissa George says she simply wants to "do something else." Already? Well, a Grey's Anatomy insider suggests that the parting of the ways was more mutual than simply the actress' choice.
"Melissa's arc came to a natural end. Everyone at the show adores her. We're genuinely sad to see her go," the source divulged.
George's initial deal called for her to appear in roughly 8-11 episodes with an option to become a series regular, like Kevin McKidd.
But her Sadie had a much more rocky introduction than the Iraq doctor, what with the self-mutilation and ambiguous sexuality. The latter characteristic was especially ill-timed coming off of Erica Hahn's controversial exit.
"The character was cursed from Day One," sniffs an ABC source. "She was very difficult to root for."
Melissa George concedes that Sadie was unconventional, even by Grey's Anatomy standards. But recent episodes had revealed a calmer, gentler side to her.
"When you take out your insides and you're hitting on every guy and girl in the hospital… you have to pull back," her portrayer suggests.
"She's a doctor. You have to be professional. For her, she had to stop doing that or else she would've been kicked out."
Is that a tease for Sadie's exit? George won't say, but she reveals that "it won't be a big send-off, but it's really cool what they do."
In other words, Sadie won't be banished to the parking lot with Hahn. What do you think of Melissa George leaving?

I really hate to see Melissa George (Sadie) leave. Sadie being there would have given some insight on Mer past if she was given the chance. I didn't understand why she was studying with the other interns if she and Mer was interns together. How did they become friends? I believe her character would have shed some light on Mer. We really don't know anything about Mer past; it would have been interesting to see where this friendship of Mer and Sadie would have taken us, to bad we'll never know. Good Luck and God's blessing on you Melissa George, I will miss you.

come on! everyone needs to use there imagination a little bit...as much as we say we dont like the random and crazy story lines, thats what makes the show great! and no matter what character is taked in or out of GA someone somewhere is going to hate or like it. NO MATTER WHAT! we all need to just go with the flow, rock with it and let greys anatomy be greys anatomy :)
personaly i think sadie brought somthing to GA. whatever that is we'll never know, too bad!

at first i didn't like her at all,
i didn't want a new character to come in and screw up the balance,
but now i actually really like her character and i think she would have been a good long-term character to have.

The way she was introduced in the show as old time crazy friend of Meredith's and Meredith herself been portrayed as young wild girl, did not fit. Meredith does not have the peronality to be that crazy of a girl. Especially in the way I cant tell you such things its so crazy kind of girl.
Sadie's introduction into the show would have been much calmer, but with the anticipation of what she may do next turned out to go beyond the shows guidlines. It made her seem not qualified to be a doctor with her not so bright ideas and risky actions.

Grey's writers better do something quick...Im die hard for this show and always will be, but some of the stuff I just don't understand. Sadie...BYE! you wont be missed, your character was annoying to begin with. This show truly needs Addison back. Burke can suck it I don't really miss him at all. These crossover episodes with Private and Grey's will def help this little slump that grey's has fallen into...

Wow Sadie didn't last as long as a snow ball in hell. I guess she is better off. Jumping ship before it sinks. It is a good thing she didn't kiss Callie or talk about going over the northern mountains or she would have ended up lost in the parking lot with Dr. Hahn. Glad she found her car and made up her own mind when she wanted to leave. WTG Sadie good luck!!!
