Helen I agree with you that Ellen is a great actress. But sometimes a show is named after a show because that's where it starts. It doesn't always mean they are always at the center. I believe now more than every GA is relying on the story lines and relationships of their other characters. And I do believe the ups & downs of Mer&Der are more real than a lot of other tv relationships but the only issue I've got with them(Mer) is this: when a man shows you a blue print of a house on a cliff overlooking the city and it's for YOU...you suck it up and move in.

All I can say, finally. Both Izzie and George hadn't had any good storyline since their affair. I think it's totally the writers fault that I feel relieved that they finally go. In season 1+2 I thought they were pretty good and good storylines and stuff. But since that fatal affair both characters went down. And this unbelievable stupid Denny storyline in season 5 was just the topping on things getting worst.
If the writers can't come up with new interesting stuff for them it's better they leave. I'm only hoping they let Lexie go as well. She's right behind Izzie when it comes to annoying in season 5.

ELLEN POMPEO IS A REMARKABLE ACTRESS WITH OR WITHOUT AN EMMY NOMINATION.SE IS VERY NATURAL AND TALENTED AND HER ACTING HAS DEPTH.SHE IS THE HEART OF THE SHOW AND THAT'S FAIR.MERDER RELATIONSHIP HAS SURVIVED TILL NOW BECAUSE IT IS SO REAL!!!!

From the beginning, this show has centered around the five original interns -- Meredith, Izzie, Cristina, George and Alex. Series spiral downhill FAST when they lose their core players. Come on, Shonda. Don't let Grey's suffer the same fate as ER. Know when to call it quits. Hold everyone to their contracts and give the loyal fans one more great season, tie up all the loose ends and finish your story. Then close the doors at Seattle Grace.

Jessa- I totally get what your saying. I love Ellen Pompeo and I have to admit I'm an addict when it comes to seeing whether they will or won't work out with McDreamy, but honestly she isn't one of my fav characters.
My favorite bond currently is between Callie and Mark. I was hoping she would switch teams again and they would become a couple but they work as BFF's too.
35.5 hours till the crossover!!! HOORAY!

Just to clear it up for all the ELLEN POMPEO lovers before another war starts I didnt say I thought she was a bad actress I'm talking about her CHARACTER...but for the record, everyone needs to remember that people have their own opinions and personalities, and not everyone is going to love ellen pompeo or not everyone is going to love katie heigl or patrick dempsey...and if someone doesn't like one of them that doesnt make them any LESS of a fan...I for one like them all Katherine Heigl just happens to be my favorite and there is nothing wrong with that....we're all here with something in commong, so lets remember we all have our own opinions, and not everyone has to like the same thing =)
On the upside....Greys is tomorrow!!

I am very upset by this news! I am a loyal Grey's fan and will remain a loyal Grey's fan, it just will not be the same! I think they are fantastic and talented actors! I love their characters! They have given Grey's the dimensions of REAL LIFE! They gave it something that will be impossible to replace! They will be greatly missed! I wish they would stick around for a while longer, but, when working conditions aren't good it makes for a long day. Even though they are getting paid big bucks, no one likes to work where they are not happy! I wish them the best! The writers just better make it one hell of a farewell!!! They at least deserve that much!

ugh please. im sorry, merder is SO over done. its the same thing over and over and over again. I actually think it's the most annoying part of the show.
personally, i hate meredith. Maybe Izzie is overly emotional and annoying at times, but at least she isn't an adult who walks around LITERALLY saying "my life sucks" (past seasons more then current season). Meredith is such a negative character and the only time they ever really delved into the "dark and twisty" (therapy scenes), they ended it prematurely.
Also, I know someone is going to give me hell for this... But Ellen Pompeo hasn't gotten and Emmy nod because she isn't a good actress. She was originally THE main character and couldn't carry the show. The really, really believable, emotional scenes are not starring Ellen, they are featuring Katherine, TR, Sandra, or one of the other talented actors.

He will once again become bitter and mean and then he'll meet someone else and turn himself around and them I'm guessing she'll turn out to be married or his cousin.

I'm really getting irritated by this show lately. The story lines have been hit or miss this season and it's been more misses than hits. People are starting to leave this show like it's a soap opera. Mysterious exits (i.e. Burke & Hahn) leaving the window open for a return (i.e. Addison) I'm serious I don't watch this show to meet a new character every week!!! Shonda better get her act together and give them better story lines or whatever they want to keep them for another year or two.
I'm calling it now, if Izzie and George both make an exit this season Grey's will have one year before cancellation. They will have jumped the shark.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Grey's without Izzie is horrible! Please don't leave, Katherine! I think she is an amazing actress and my favorite character. If she leaves I'll continue to watch Grey's purely to stare at McDreamy, because the stories I have been interested in will have been gone :( This sucks. I don't mind TR leaving too much, though it is weird as he is one of the Fab 5. Oh man... I read that one or both of them is supposed to have a short story arc next fall, so I'm hoping Izzie doesn't die. Although we know she could be wandering the halls as a ghost. This is sad, sad news.

I've been watching greys anatomy since season 1 and I will continue to watch greys even if TR and Heigl are no longer around. It will not be the same without izzie and George but the show could still move on without them. Stairway to heaven and sympathy for the devil were great episodes. And there were few scenes of izzie and almost no screentime of george but then fans watched the episodes and it has high ratings. The episodes had a good feedback even without them. I liked izzie and george after all they were part of the fab five. But I'm not liking heigl and knight. I believe that they wanted to be off the show and you guys can't blame shonda and abc. Heigl and knight are great actors and I wish them well. We still have the other actors who are great. I disagree with some of the comments made that the show focuses only on mer and der when it is obvious izzie got the storyline all for herself the first few episodes of season 5. yea grace i know Grey's is a medical show im not an idoit?! i just dont like all the medical stuff they do i mean i like all the patients and stuff i just hate surgery scenes, sorry its my opinion?!
well i kinda feel Grey's is better than ER but thats probably because ive been watching Grey's since the beginning and ive only been watching ER for that last 3 seasons, and i just never really got that into it.

the thing about izzie is she has close ties with a lot of characters...
What do you guys think will happen to Alex (who is presumably staying on the show) once Izzie dies (if that is what is planned)? Or if she didn't die, and just left him?
If Izzie dies, do you think that might be why George chooses to leave? Will their friendship FiNALLY make a comeback during her illness?
This is all hypothetical speculation.

i don't know what i will do if katherine heigl leaves the show. shes my favorite character/actor. and what will alex do!? the only way i can see her leaving is if she dies, any other departure would just ruin everything.

Its not T.R's fault Shonda has decided to exile George to some faraway place. He never has any screen time where he says more than 3 words, let alone a storyline of any sort! I thought they were going somewhere good with Lexie, but he got a slap in the face. We love you Georgey O'MALLEEEEEYYYY!
As for Katie, she has a frontburner storyline so i dont know why she's upset. But i loveeee Alex and Izzie and i will be very upset if i dont get them!
