The CW has already revealed the characters expected to play significant roles in its upcoming Melrose Place spin-off.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter states the network has officially ordered a pilot of the updated 1990s soap opera - and has convinced Davis Guggenheim to direct it.
Guggenheim has been behind the camera on shows such as 24, The Unit and Deadwood.
He is also married to actress Elisabeth Shue, making him the brother-in-law of Melrose Place star Andrew Shue.
We can only hope this leads to a cameo on the new series from the worst actor in the history of primetime television.
