Unfortunately, Dr. Shephard can't save her. The cancer is in her brain but it didn't start there. Even if they operate and take it out there ... its in her system now. It just keeps popping up in other places. My mother died from stage four melanoma. She was young and not ready to die so they tried chemo. When tumors popped up that were heading towards shutting down organs they operated. Once on her lung and took a tumor out there. Then a bit later they operated on her liver and took a tumor out there. The tumors just keep coming back in different places. There's not a single place you can go and do radiation on. You are just chasing tumors. The chemo treatments they have don't work for 95% of the population. It's brutal and it's quick. My mom went from "healthy" to passing away in 12 months. I'll be interested to see how this show develops this story. For those who have lived through this cancer ... it'll be tough to watch. I'm glad the country will learn a bit more about it though.

i hated this whole denny thing,
but i'd rather have it then her maybe dying.
elevator love letter has to be when he proposed right?
& why don't we try to start figuring out what the hell is wrong with fan of the show? some kind of tumor or something that makes her say the stupidist things!

Derek and Meredith, will be getting engaged, but I think not getting married this season that would be too much, but Im thinking Meredith is preggers.

I had to get online and instantly look up spoilers after that episode of grey's ...so far..it took a turn for the worst.I cant believe that he was so mean to meridith and even threw the ring when she said she knew about it. Im sad.What do you think will happen next?Im proud of him for saying that she would stick by and wasnt going anywhere

I am really wondering what PD meant by "union". It's not a common way of saying marriage so...maybe it's something else? Maybe baby? It just strikes me odd that he'd say union instead of marriage. Whatever, at least they're getting engaged!
To me it makes more sense, because of their personalities, if they elope than make a whole wedding scene like Cris/Burke or the one that Derek had with Addie. It's why I pitched the beach wedding idea. And since they haven't filmed the wedding (for whoever it is) there is still a chance they might film it outside of Seattle.
Isn't Ausiello sneaky? How many spoilers has he given away like this and I hadn't noticed? Anyway, it was sorta weird once I clicked and opened those links. Sucks to be Izzie right now but I'll bet she's this season's miracle, just as Mer was alive after her drowning, or little Tuck got better. I'm actually starting to get intrigued by this. Finally!

As far as the MerDer proposal...ahh I can't wait!! and I think they will get married in Seattle, otherwise we would have seen pics or read something about the cast traveling somewhere...though the actual wedding hasn't been filmed yet so maybe....either way they ARE getting engaged!!!

awe... it would be soooo cute for them to get married on the beach or something.... i think it will be something quiet.. not a lot of guests.... or what if they elope?!?!?!.....

i can't wait... Patrick Dempsey said on The View that there would be "a union" of Meredith and Derek by the end of this season!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!
