Masi Oka Explains Scaled-Down Abilities
So Peter can only absorb one power at a time.
And Hiro can stop time, but he cannot travel through it.
The altering of various abilities has left a few Heroes fans confused; but in a new interview with TV Guide, Masi Oka tries to explain what the show is doing.
"There are basically two directions," said Oka. "A lot of people are getting new levels to their powers. Like Matt Parkman, who can now draw the future. But people like Peter and Sylar perhaps have become too powerful, so they're trying to scale it back down."

Sylar: I can't bring Nathan back Peter, but I can sure as Hell swing a sledgehammer.

I fully disagree with his answer. Its seems to me that Sylar is getting stronger and even unstoppable at this point in the show. By limiting the powers, they are just frustrating viewers. I know the writers want to make the plot better. They are just doing it in a really crappy way.

Come on... it's a Sci-Fi show... tell why the writers can't find a way to both give them their powers back, and scale down their effect on the show... remember the haitian? There are plenty of powerful superheroes who have been popular for decades, mostly because of some good writing, and creative thinking... Lets hope the writers get it right, or it doesn't look like we'll have a show to talk about much longer.

Thank god the fans aren't the ones dictating the show.
A few months ago, everyone was complaining that the show sucks because Peter and Hiro's powers were over-the-top and destroying the plot. Now everyone's complaining because their powers have been scaled back to a reasonable level.
There's only one thing this show needs, and it's more human story-telling like we had back in season 1. Last week's episode (Ep. 20) is the first in a long time that displayed that pure, human element that made it so popular in the first place.
More episodes like this, and less OMG PETER VS. SYLAR SUPER BATTLES, is what will bring the fans back.

Ok at least i know i'm not the only one who loves the scaled-down abilities thing. I'm all for Peter and Hiro getting their powers back, but i think this was an awesome move on the writers' part. It makes sense that when Peter injected himself with the formula that he got a power similar to his original one but not quite to the same extent, since it was artificial.
People seem to forget that in season 2 Sylar did lose his powers, all of them. I personally thought that it was a great way to show that he was still super evil, without powers, since it showed how smart, and ultimately, how dangerous he was. So when he got them back, it was like, "oh crap, this is bad." In a similar way, i think the loss of his powers has forced Peter to use his head, and he's become a kick-butt hero again because of it. Like season 1, i think that Peter will learn to hold on to more than one power at once, and then he will once again become the most powerful hero.
And when that happens, PLEASE let'

HIRO NEEDS HIS POWERS BACK AND PETER TOO, OK , I GET IT YOU WANNA SCALE DOWN THEIR POWERS, ITS NOT FAIR THAT SYLAR GETS TO KEEP ALL OF HIS..IT WAS FUN SEEING OTHER TIMES, OTHER PLACES LIKE FEUDAL JAPAN,YOUNG HIRO, ..PETER HAS TOO MUCH POWER? IT WAS COOL TO WATCH! IT WAS FUN..I DONT SEE WHY YOU WOULD SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE LEG LIKE THAT.YOU TAKE THE TWO MOST FAVORITE CHARACTERS OF THE SHOW AND STRIP THEM DOWN TO BLAND..I JUST DONT GET YOU GUYS..

Simple solution, give Peter, Hiro and Sylar back their full powers. End up with Peter and Sylar facing off against each other in a huge showdown which looks to end in a New York type disaster as they both go nuclear. Hiro teleports in, stops time and zaps them back to the dinosaurs where they go boom in a mega explosion.... Hiro leaves to go wandering through history while Peter and Sylar survive cos' of their healing powers and influence history because of their immortality thus giving rise to earths legends of Gods and Heroes.
Then you can swing it back into the present day where Peter and Sylar are still out there, influencing what is happening from behind the scenes. Each with their own agenda...
Just a thought.

Don't act like everyone wants Hiro and Peter back at full power :P
I love this choice by the writer's personally. They were getting too strong (especially Peter), to the point where any real plotline could be solved by badass Peter coming in and using all his powers to save the day. Same goes for Hero -- even stopping time is a huge power to have, but being able to go back and time and change anything just kills suspense in the show. It was cool in season one where it was used to set the stage for the rest of the season (going forward in that case), but I'm glad it's gone now.
Even if the majority doesn't like this (who knows if that's actually true), good for the writers for doing something that could potentially be unpopular for the good of the plot.

SMART MAN MASI!!!!!
FK TIME TRAVEL...Thats what FKD the show up in the first place. If Peter is to receive all his powers he better not get that back. I Like the fact that Hiro can only Freeze Time.
SMART MOVE WRITERS with Hiro!!!
