Gossip Girl Spoilers: Stephanie Savage on Chair, Nair & Jack
We've all been wondering for weeks now: what is the deal with the Chuck-Blair-Nate triangle? Will it be the real thing or just a blip in the total Gossip Girl time line?
The short answer is the latter.
Zap2it's Korbi Ghosh recently spoke with executive producer Stephanie Savage, and what she came away with was that Blair and Nate won't go away next week, and we will have to live with it for a time, but the two are not exchanging rings.
"We are definitely out there [online], kind of listening to what people are saying. We are very aware there is a lot of interest in having the Chuck and Blair story come to fruition... and that’s what we’re thinking about right now," Savage said.
And what exactly does "right now" mean?

Well, Gossip Girl season two has already wrapped, so where does that leave us. Stephanie said Chuck and Blair would be a top priority for Season Three.
But does that mean Blair and Nate will be a big part of Season Two's five remaining episodes? "They have a little run," Savage revealed.
"I don’t want people to not be invested in that story because I think that when the Nate and Blair story finally ends, people will understand that it was necessary growth for both of the characters. They come out in a different place."
Sounds like she's got a plan.
Stephanie Savage can even explain the reasoning - or at least try - behind this Nate and Blair reunion and why it makes sense right now:
"It felt like, given the history that they had - when we met Blair, her whole story for the first half of the first season was very much about them feeling like they were destined to be together - it is very realistic. Especially since Blair has been feeling insecure lately - she's found out that she’s not getting into Yale, her life isn’t going to end up like she thought it would and she’s kind of off the path she'd planned."
"Nate offers security, familiarity, and just kind of that nostalgia for that vision of herself that she had as a young girl, wanting to see that come to fruition as high school culminates. This is your high school boyfriend, this is who you always dreamed about finishing high school with. And when that dream presents itself, it’s going to be pretty appealing."
For those still worried the show is simply stalling on Chuck and Blair and that Gossip Girl is planning to forever avoid the relationship between the two until we hit the series finale, Savage offered more food for thought.
Asked if the Chuck-Blair pairing could work without tanking the drama, she said: "We think we had good success on [our first series] The O.C., for example, with Seth and Summer, where they were really together as a couple for the vast majority of the show."
"We told stories where they were having issues and were having obstacles, but in the context of them as a couple. So it’s not necessarily the case that once a couple comes together, they stop being interesting or able to generate story."
In the meantime, as Chuck Bass has to wait out the drama with his true love and his best friend together, the Vanessa thing will continue for a bit.
Stephanie explained that it certainly "won't have the same resonance" as the Blair-Nate situation. But that's in the eye of the beholder, certainly.
Lastly, Stephanie and her writing staff have not forgotten the fact that Nate and Chuck are supposed to be loyal to each other, given their friendship.
Apparently the two boys have "a very sweet story" which will play out at the end of the season as they "kind of figure out the Blair of it all."
As for the whole Uncle Jack Bass-Blair of it all - remember that forgotten detail? - the ball was not dropped after all and it will be revealed in the season finale.
What happened is the writers originally planned for the big "what went down with Jack and Blair on New Years" reveal to play out earlier this year.
The scene with Chuck finding out was even shot and partially shown in a preview. But when the producers watched the cut of it, they just felt like it wasn't dealt with properly. It seemed as though an important piece of drama was being rushed through, so they ultimately decided to hold that back and get a bigger story out of it at season's end.
Mystery solved ... but what could it be? How do you feel about these Gossip Girl spoilers in general? Share your comments with us below!

Sure, this can be discussed and debated, but it comes down to the actors and what works. I, not to mention almost all other gg fans I've talked to, agree that Ed and Leighton have an amazing chemistry on screen. Watching Nate and Blair is almost painful. I feel awkward just watching them. There's no passion there and it's so obvious. Even from the very beginning of Season 1, I never liked Nate and Blair. I remember there was a scene in Season 1 when Blair and Chuck were plotting against Serena right after her return and I thought to myself that they had an amazing chemistry and would look really good together. There's various reason why us CB fans love to see them together: the chemistry, they're more interesting, they look good together, and they've been through so much. What's left for Gossip Girl if Nate and Blair end up together? So the show ends up with the Kindergarten couple happily ever after because they've been claiming they love each other since they they were five, not to m

I dunno. The Blair/Nate pairing really interests. As well as the Chuck/Vanessa lust-hate pairing. I dunno. Blair and Nate just have this thing. Where it seems like they were destined to be together. And I like that.
And Chuck/Vanessa is different. They hate each other. I should say despise one another. But they have a certain chemistry unlike any other pairing on the show. I'm not quite sure if it's Ed and Jessica's chemistry rubbing off on Chuck and Vanessa. But it works. I don't care what any of the Blair/Chuck shippers say.
It works.

I agree with GGB&N and I also the love trianlges that are going it creates good drama. The producers should keep that going and hey who knows maybe Chuck and Vanessa might owrk out together or they might find people that are better .

i just wished blair with chuck, nate with serena, dan with vanessa.. the writers so stupid y they didnt match nate with serena they both are nice, hot and sweet together.. i was waiting for nate and serena since season1 til 2 but nothing happen until now. i'm rooting for them.. the writers are suck with the story line.. dan and vanessa both should be together for their sake of judgmental n similarity of attitude... so bring back nate and serena...
