Kate.321-- I totally agree w/ you that Alex is in love with Izzie (if you do end up reading back to the beginning of mine and TDS's conversation, you'll see that I said it back then)... I wouldn't go as far as you to say he's always been, from the beginning, but I do agree 100% now that he's in love w/ her. I just don't think that she's in love w/ him (although I do believe she does love him on some level). But a lot of that is where the Gizzie fan VS A/I fan line is drawn-- we have to just agree to disagree on that point b/c that is one of the big fundamentals we'll never see eye-to-eye on!!

So, I admit, I didn't read all of the TDS/Greysaddict conversation, but I just wanted to add my two cents.
I actually completely disagree with both of them, if that is even possible because they also seem to completely disagree with each other.
First of all, I love Izzie. I think she's going through a tough time (we all have) and needs Alex more than ever right now.
Also, I'm pretty sure that Alex has been in love with her for the entire show (keep in mind that this is coming from an A/I fan, so I may have interpreted some scenes differently from people for other ships), and I'm so happy to finally see them together.
Third, I have to admit I've never actually watched an Alex/Addison kiss. I always end up shutting my eyes before they happen. And I started doing that before I became a Lexzie fan. I've just never liked them, which is weird, because I love both of them separately.
Fourth, I agree that Alex has been more involved in this relationship than Izzie has been for most of t

I agree that the audience knowing and caring about Callie made a huge difference in how Gizzie's adultery was viewed as opposed to the others'. But, as I said b/f, TPTB also seemed to write a lot of remorse into it as well-- probably b/c of the fans' concern for Callie.

Beautifully said. That is the pain that Shonda directly struck us Gizzie fans with-- that is the pain we feel. Well, Greysaddiction - hopefully Private Practice will get canceled, Addison will come back and Addisex will once again rule the airwaves - then we'll both be happy! LOL! (Of course, Alex might not be but thats ok)
I was probably a little too harsh on Izzie in my post. I loved her in S1 and most of S2 and when she is funny and goofy and domestic I really like her. I just don't like her angsty I guess. For example, I am really looking forward to her manic planning for Mer's wedding-a-palooza.
Also, I think that Shonda sets some characters up as the "good" shiny characters (Derek, Izzie, George) and the "bad" twisty characters (Alex, Mer and Cris). I just happen to relate more to the dark and twisty ones I guess or at least find them more interesting. (Although I love George).
Also, for the record, I can completely understand why people don't like Alex or Alex/Izzie. He can be a complete jerk and very cruel sometimes. (I do think the accusation of abusive goes WAY too fa

I loved Alex with Addison too! See, something we can agree upon 100%!!! :) I thought Alex brought out something in Addie that we had never seen before (that Mark didn't bring out in her nor Derek, or anyone else, for that matter) and I think Addie could have been very good for Alex... So, maybe I'll round back to this by the end of my post-- who knows?
First of all I want to start by saying that I have no delusions (and never have or would have wanted to) that Izzie is a perfect character/person. I am completely aware that she can be very selfish at times, and sometimes downright nasty. You have laid out some of Izzie's "finest" (sarcastic) moments here-- lol!!! But, you see-- these are part of why I love Izzie. And yes, even after seeing all your reminders of her "finest" moments, I still would call Izzie a very caring and compassionate person. She has many layers-- quite the bloomin' little onion!! ;) And caring and compassionate are big layers in there too.

Greysaddiction, you knew it would be right? :) I don’t know how I can love A/I so much when I really don’t like Izzie that much. I guess it is because Alex is my favorite character and its clear that Izzie makes him happier than anyone else and I want him to be happy (I actually loved him with Addison).
Anyway, I don’t think that Izzie is kind and compassionate, at least not usually. She has been extremely judgmental of patients (Savvy, the woman with the quints, to name 2), she has been judgmental of her friends and hypocritical (she got mad at Cristina because of Tremorgate not long after she stole a heart and cut an LVAD). She has been disrespectful to her best friend George (everything having to do with Callie but especially the crack about her small ring). She has been downright mean, insensitive and/or dismissive of Alex, Callie and George (too many examples to name). Every character on the show has flaws, but Izzie’s biggest, in my opinion, is that she has alm

McCynic-- you are right. The spoilers and pics are very heavily pointing to an A/I wedding. So, there we have it (most likely, anyway).
So, I've got some stuff to say... I'll just dive right in then.
I do not want an A/I wedding. Plain and simple. For the following reasons--
1- I think MerDer are the only couple ready for marriage.
2- So, yes, you can deduce from #1 that I don't think A/I are ready for marriage.
3- I think Alex is in love w/ Izzie. I do believe that Izzie loves Alex, but I don't believe she is in love with him. If she is, we certainly haven't heard it yet, but who knows? maybe we will soon.
4- To quote one of my favorite posters on Insider, TDS, who thinks "Izzie is annoying, but she is tolerable with him because she isn't hysterical all the time spouting ridiculous speeches and when she starts in on one he kisses her to shut her up." Ok, Chandra Wilson is saying in an interview that it is Meredith and Derek's wedding that they are currently filming and they are looking for bridemaid's dresses for Izzie, Cristina and Lexie.

I just thought of something - what if they are surprising Izzie with the wedding. So they lead her to believe they are going for Meredith and Derek's wedding, and when they get there, Alex surprises her that it's for her.

I think it's pretty clear it's Alex and Izzie. Alex is dressed for it. Someone pointed out Heigl smoking in the wedding dress (now THAT has gotta piss Shonda off - her giving it away for a smoke - not to mention she probably makes it miserable for the rest of the cast and crew - smokers stink). Heigl also has bride-like flowers in her hair. Anyway, it's pretty obvious that Meredith is a bride's maid/MOH, etc. The only one we won't expect to see in the church is Callie...heh.
Relax, Meredith and Derek fans, you'll get your wedding. They do need to draw these things out - build in drama and comedic interludes, get the guest stars in, etc. That is how they maintain the show. Due process. Try and enjoy the ride.

Thanks Andreanne, that's nice, it counts with me! But my hopes aren't up just yet (although I just saw the photos of them filming at the church). If Shonda gives A/I (and especially Alex) any happiness at all, it will all come crashing down next season, I"m sure :)

I am glad for the AI fans. I just could never get into them. It probably has to do with the fact I have shipped Gizzie from day 1.

I think that Meredith and Derek will reach the church but not get married.
Its more likely that Izzie does not die and she gets married with Alex.
If there is sure that Greys Anatomy will go for season 6 then it has to be something to "play" with.
If the MerDer couple gets married then the whole primal character 'dies".
Instead maybe MerDer won't get married because something happens to Izzie in the hospital whilw the wedding takes place an there ends the season....without telling us....

Greysaddiction - I do think that Shonda is playing us a little bit with all of these 100 episode rumors. She says it is Mer/Der's wedding day, but they may not get married. Kristen says it is a rumor that they won't get married and Ausiello says that it definitely isn't Mer/Der. At this point I kind of wish they would let us just be surprised. Whatever happens now will kind of be anti-climactic.
A/I does seem to be obvious now, and Shonda hates obvious, but other than Mer/Der I just don't know who it would be. Mark/Lexie is a possibility with Thatcher coming I guess, but that would just be ridiculous to me. I go back and forth on my feelings about an A/I wedding. On one hand, I think that it would be very emotional and I love emotional Alex, but on the other hand, Shonda and the writers don't have much respect for marriage, so whoever is getting married may be doomed. Although, if Alex and Izzie get through her illness together and Izzie lives, I just can't imagine one of t

I agree with greysaddiction - I don't think anyone knows or at least is allowed to let on who is getting married. The reason Ausiello and Kristen are so official is because they are allowed to know and leak. I doubt Shonda will let that leak. The only other time you get legitimate info, officially, IMO is when the spoiler-tv site posts a copy of a script.
Guess all you want, but I suspect we'll learn in a few weeks. I'm ok with that.
