Guiding Light: Canceled!

Guiding Light has enjoyed quite a run. 72 years worth, to be exact.

But the soap opera has officially been canceled. It will go off the air in September.

"Being on the air for more than seven decades is truly remarkable, and it will be difficult for all of us at the show to say goodbye," said Executive Producer Ellen Wheeler. "I'm proud of everything we’ve been able to do, including outstanding storytelling, our community service around the country with Find Your Light and the launch of our new production model. This show has such a rich history, wonderful fans, and I'm honored to have been a part of the GL legacy."

It's a shame that someone can do this to such a long running soap. I've been watching GL for about 35 years and watched it go downhill in the last several. They've let alot of really good actors go in recent years with only a few of the older ones left. Such a shame.

Why does someone have to go and ruin things for everyone?

They wouldn't listen to their fans and to what we want. GL has always had the best actors and used to have good storylines. You'd think they'd want to continue this tradition. No other show has ever been on TV this long and it could have continued. Shame on the powers that be!

I think everyone should protest and also boycott P and G products.

I think that the lady who is taking Guiding Light off the air is a bitch.

I REALLY HATE THAT THE SHOWS TAKEN OF THE AIR. ITS LIKE WATCHING A FAMILY YOU ARE APART OF. I DO WISH THOUGH THEY HAD NOT CHANGED THE WAY THEY FILMED IT. IT THE LIGHTING OR SOMETHING DOES NOT LOOK THE WAY IT USE TO AND IT MADE IT SOME MORE FAKE TO ME. BUT THAT BEING SAID, IM SURE GOING TO MISS SEEING THE SHOW.
