Mer Der Fan4ever, I thought that your comment was genius. i doubt that it is a coincidence that the child shot her dad 17 times. and as we draw closer to the finale, i wouldn't be surprised to see some parallels to the season 2 finale and episodes leading up to it. after all, that's when denny died and Der and Mer finally hooked up again.

i think the chiefs doing that to give meredith time off for the wedding, but i dont think she knows that, im not sure i ahvent seen those episodes yet XD

This weeks episode looks amazing! Has anyone been on the grey's anatomy Mer/Der wedding website http://weddings.theknot.com/pwp/pwp2/view/MemberPage.aspx?coupleId=5204748318589928&MsdVisit=1 It's counting down to May 14th. I wonder if they are getting married in the season finale instead? Also this fight between the Chief and Meredith is so big she disinvites him to the wedding. (spoiler on Kristen dos Santos e-online)

@Janis - yes, it kind of bugs me when they use the same characters for both Grey's and PP without preserving the character because Addie and all the PP people are the same when they crossover, and it is the same "world", time, etc. I had written that before and then kind of took out most of what I said because I thought I must be overly nit-picky, but I am glad someone else is too! And, unless Sylvie is Owen's mom, I think you will be disappointed in Debra Mooney's role on Grey's....

I'm actually a little pissed they used that actress again, in what I assume would be a totally different role (she didn't have kids in Private Practice (well, ... yet) and she didn't have the same husband)
PP was supposed to be a spinoff which means the two shows are related, they coexist in the same universe, in a common space time continuum. They should at least try to make it look rational (Debra Mooney was to star in one of the next episodes as well, I hope they preserved her role as Sylvie)

Rachel - an automatic .22 wouldn't be out of the question. That would also explain how the dad didn't die--a .22 will hurt, but it won't necessarily kill you unless you hit the right places. I could shoot a .22 at her age with accuracy, but then, I was a kid who was taught how to handle a weapon.
I hope that it's a case of child abuse. More child abuse awareness is always good. I'm excited for the episode ^.^

I very much doubt that the main character will go on an extended leave. Remember season 5 of Sex and the City? It was shorter than the other series but Carrie was there.

hmm maybe she does get suspended or has to go on a leave, and that i show they are going to work her pregnancy leave into the storyline.....idk i doubt it but just a thought.

this may come off as a stupid question to some, but im the average 15 year old girl with no kind of gun knowledge, so is there an actual gun a 6 year old could hold that contains 17 shots at once? and lite enough to keep it aimed?

marriedmymcdreamy, thank you for the info, now I remember that I read it in the spoilers referring to the big wedding epi.
Yes, the girl probably shot her dad in self defense, or she was defending her mother, but 17 times???? That's a little too much, don't you think?
I'm really looking forward to this epi, actually I'm looking forward for every epi till the end of the season.

ya i'm thinking that someone is a victim of abuse by the dad and the girl was either defending herself or the mother. i'm guessing the mother because it wouldn't be such a "bad" thing if the girl was defending herself, you know?

That is was i was thinking too, because in one of the previews the girls mother had a broken arm so maybe he was hitting the mom and she defended her by shooting him.

I've a hard time believing that a little girl would shot her father 17 times.
the only 2 explanations:
a) the little girl does indeed have mental problems
b) she was a victim of domestic abuse
I'm thinking more of the later...but we'll see.
As for Meredith getting suspended, hmm...doubt it will actually happen! I think the Chief was just treatening her.
