One Tree Hill Spoilers: Season Six Finale

at . Comments

The cheesy but magical world of One Tree Hill was rocked this week by news that Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton will not be returning in the fall.

Here's what Michael Ausiello of EW says about the devastating departure of the two stars, the season finale Monday, and what's to come next season:

  • As for whether Chad and Hilarie's characters, Lucas and Peyton, get a proper sendoff, they "definitely come to a natural resting place that feels right for them and ties up their story nicely; however, they do not get an actual sendoff of any kind."
  • As for Sophia Bush's raspy-voiced character, who will be back for a seventh season in the fall, "Brooke finally gets two things she's long wanted."
  • Meanwhile, Whitey (the retired HS basketball coach, played by Barry Corbin) and Karen (Lucas' mom, played by Moira Kelly) appear.
  • As for next season, filling the void left by Chad and Hilarie will be three new faces: Quinn, Haley's free-spirited, strong-willed older sister; Alexis, a model-actress-crazy bitch in her 20s who Brooke hires to be the new face of her clothing line; and Clayton, a young and brash sports agent who takes on Nathan as a client.

These two old school One Tree Hill characters will return in the finale.

One Tree Hill Quotes

Remember tonight, for it is the beginning of always. A promise, like a reward for persisting through life so long alone. A belief in each other and the possibility of love. A decision to ignore simply rise above the pain in the past. A covenant, which at once binds two souls and yet severs prior ties. The celebration of the chance taken and the challenge that lies ahead. For two will always be stronger than one. Like a team braced against the tempests of the world. And love will always be the guiding force in our lives. For tonight is mere formality. Only an announcement to the world of feelings long held, promises made long ago in the sacred space in our hearts.

Lucas

Lucas: I need you to trust me and believe me when I tell you that my heart is with you. Part of me feels like ever since we got back together you've been waiting, waiting to push me away.
Brooke: Oh great, so you kiss Peyton, again, and I'm pushing you away!?
Lucas: I love you Brooke, I don't know how else to say it.
Brooke: How about how you show it? I'm not pushing you away Lucas. I am holding on for dear life, but I need you to need me back. Okay, why wouldn't you tell me about the kiss and why didn't you call me while you were away and why won't you ever just let me all the way in? We have to go give our toasts now, about love.
