So much for last season's brief creative resurgence.

Fans of Heroes were excited to learn that former writer, and Pushing Daisies creator, Bryan Fuller was returning to the NBC hit late last season. Many fans attributed a few improved episodes to Fuller and his focus on character development.

But multiple sources have now confirmed that the producer has left Heroes again. He'll focus on developing new projects for NBC, as Fuller told Entertainment Weekly that he couldn't fit Heroes into his schedule.

"I'm crafting two pilots right now and it's a lot of work," said Fuller, who has an overall deal with NBC. "It was just too hard to [juggle] Heroes and my development; something had to give."

Heroes Quotes

Sylar: You okay?
Claire: Peachy.

[voiceover] In the beginning there was discovery. A confusion of elements. The first snowfall of impossible change. Old lives undone, left behind. Strange faces, made familiar. New nightmares, to challenge sleep. New friends, to feel safe with. Only then comes control. The need to impose order unto chaos, through determination through study, through struggle. All in defiance of a thundering truth. They’re here, and the earth shudders underfoot.
