Lead actress: Ellen Pompeo (of course) but she has tough competitiors in other shows so it will be hard for her to get a nom
Supporting actress: Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson (both should win an Emmy in my opinion)
Supporting actor: Patrick Dempsey. I prefer to have him in the lead, but since he hasn't gotten much screentime this season (thanks to Heigl and her big ego), he may have a better chance of getting a nom in this category.
Guest actress: Tyne Daly. But I think Sharon Lawrence was great too though.
Guest actor: Eric Stoltz
Best lead actress (Sorry for Ellen fans, I don't think she can win, she is good, but not great, she is not always good like Sandra Oh, Chandra Wilson, Ellen has her owen moments, but that is just it. )
Best supporting actress (KH, SO and CW all has chance to win, they are all brilliant, but yeah it seems like KH has more chance, but I hope it is Sandra).
Best supporting actor (Kevin Mckidd, this man is pure brilliant, and has already got ton of praises from the media, I do think he has a shot to make it).
Patrick Dempsey should have been classed as lead actor with Ellen it is their show,

I definitley think Ellen should win. She has been nominated ever since Grey's Anatomy has been on but has won nothing! Though, I think Katherine did an excellent job she has won enough. Ellen Ellen Ellen!

@shadx, remember these aren't the official nominations. This are the entries that Grey's submitted for the Emmys. You'll know for sure once the Emmy noms, which btw Chandra is announcing, are announced on July 16th.

why is Sara Ramirez overlooked every year? She should have gotten the nod during the Izzie/George year, but I think this year is very appropriate as well.
Also, if Brooke Smith gets a nomination, its going to be one awkward evening.

@Greys Fan, sorry, I missed your last post.
In theory, they should consider it for the entire season but its impossible for them to be able to judge 22-25 episodes per show, so they ask the networks to submit episodes relevant to the series for them to judge. Obviously, the network, ABC in this case, submit the best episodes at their judgement. I believe that they are aware of how the season was by some recaps and critic's judgements but normally, they'll judge by those episodes submitted.
For the technical awards are different procedures since in that case, every episode is consider. I noticed that when it came to ER the technical noms weren't the same as the episode's or the actor's noms.
As for the actors, I found this on the link provided in this site.
"I just found out earlier this week that the rule changes this year have an unintended outcome for us. Nobody will choose or submit an episode unless he/she is actually nominated in mid-July. Of course, that takes a lot

Holy crap...I just noticed (in the link provided) that Maura Tierney (Abby on ER) also submitted herself for Supporting...and I thought she was lead. Ok, less angry about the PD issue now, and more torn apart on who should win there.
@GreysFan - About PD, it's rumored that he did this for him to have a real shot at the nomination after failing for four years to get one as Lead Actor. He was among the Top 10 list of nominees last year but didn't make the cut for the final 6. Other reports made it seem that because Grey's is an ensemble show, all storylines are supportive and everyone should submit themselves as supporting, except Pompeo, since her character is the show's name. He has yet to explain his motives but this is what's assumed. Plus at my judgement, he was pushed back this season to give pass to Izzie's cancer storyline and Alex dealing with it. I'd had loved to see more of dark and twisty Derek.
And about the episodes, networks submit two episodes for the Academy to co

Wait, okay, sorry I am so confused. For best drama series, do the Emmy people judge each series based on the whole season or just the two episodes that they submit? If the former, what are the two episodes used for? Specific episode categories like makeup, etc?

Why didn't Patrick Dempsey submit himself for lead? Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey are clearly the leads. Also, what does it mean by submitting episodes? Do shows submit their two best episodes as a sort of "picture" of the season since the awards people can't watch every episode of every show

For Grey's episodes - They submitted the best episodes of the whole season. The SK arc was intense in all its sense. ELL was good but the dynamic that the cast had during treating the SK (at least Cristina, Derek and Mer) and Bailey with her pediatric's case...was among the best in the entire series.
Supporting Actor - I still disagree with Patrick submitting himself as supporting but I guess this time he actually has a shot at the nom. He really can't compete with Hugh Laurie (that should've won years ago) and Jon Hamm. Maybe next year? KMK did a great job but he still needs, IMO, some more time in the show to fully develop Owen. He deserves the nom but maybe not the Emmy. JC did also a great job. TR (as much as I love him) didn't have enough screentime to get a nom.
Supporting Actress - Sandra or Chandra should get a nom (and win). I really hope that Chandra takes it. No offense to KH lovers but sure, get the nom but she shouldn't win. It'd become Izzie's Anatomy if she won. A
Here are my picks:
Drama Series- Grey's Anatomy
Lead Actress- Ellen Pompeo (especially her scene outside the jail)
Supporting Actress- Chandra Wilson (love the softer side of Bailey)
Supporting Actor- Patrick Dempsey (dark side- LOVED it)

I think Ellen,Patrick and Katie and Eric Stoltz i also think they should have submitted elevator love letter, i thought that episode was incredible, and i understand why Patrick is in the supporting actor category, i mean he didn't get the screentime in my opinion to compete with the likes of Hugh Laurie, Jon Hamm etc but i think PD did a stellar job this season as did all the cast
I can't believe Patrick put himself in as supporting actor, he should have gone for lead too!
As for supporting actress, tough call. Sandra Oh, Sara Ramirez, Chandra Wilson, and Katherine Heigl are all real possibilities to get the nomination and win.
Supporting actor, I vote for Patrick, even though I think he should be lead! But also Justin Chambers. He did great this year!
As for guest stars, Tyne Daley was my favorite guest character this year, I thought she was FABULOUS and deserves to win for that, and for the guest actor, I would say Eric Stoltz, he played that role perfectly. It still creeps me out to think about it, but he was phenomenal! JDM as Denny also was good, so he could pull a nomination too.
For the episodes, I have to say Stairway to Heaven. That one just really hit me hard for some reason. Great guest stars and great acting by the regular cast as well. The scene outside the prison ought to earn Ellen P

Kevin McKidd and T.R. Knight should win. and Justin Chambers, cuz he did a REALLY good job :]

I like Justin but I don't think he is a good actor.
He seriously overacts and he tends to either acts with his teeth or do the constipated face thing.
I'd give it to Kevin, Chandra, Sandra and Katie (though it bugs me she did blackmail to get a story).
To me TR Knight is the best male actor of the show, but hey Shonda fixed it so he couldn't even be nominated with his zero scenes did she?
I hate that woman.
Sarah.

#Marianne - I agree with you about Bailey, she's not the same anymore. She's gone soft the last seasons and she's not like she was in the beginning of the show. I preferred her more like that, like the tough woman who didn't take any crap and everyone obeyed and listened to. But it wouldn't be fun either if she was the just the same season after season. There have to some change, even though I liked that side of her more. But Chandra Wilson does deserve an Emmy. She's proved that she can play both sides of Bailey with excellence.
Btw, if katherine Heigl wins an Emmy I'm gonna puke.

Ellen dserves an Emmy and I agree that Stairway to Heaven and Sympathy for the Devil were the best.
Eric Stolz is an actor of class and so is Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson.
Chyler Leigh is a bad actress. She should do sth about it and not run for a nomination. There is a virtue called self-knowledge that Leigh has to find about

Seriously, Justin Chambers? All he does is shouting. He is good when he doesn't talk, when he just speaks with his eyes, like the last scene of the last episode (and that's not enough to win an Emmy). But when he speaks he ruins it, he seems to think that the acting improves if you shout the words....
Same with Katherine Heigl, the queen of overacting (both onscreen and offscreen it seems). It would be a joke if they give an Emmy for having sex with a ghost and play cancer as fairytale with weddings and magical surgeries.
Chandra Wilson always does the same things, after 5 seasons, too repetitive.
I don't even know why Patrick submitted for secondary actor.
Or why some of those others even submitted... Jessica??
