I love all the guys. I love Derek. I love Alex, only not when he's with Izzie. I love Mark, except with Lexie. I love the Chief. I LOVE Joe. George is my favorite though. It's that smile of his. It gets me every single time. I feel like hugging him and never letting him go.

I don't think the other guys are bad though. I think deep down they have a good heart and have shown it.

Do I think George has the best heart? Yep. Do I think he's the only one who has a good heart? No!

I think everyone is upset that George got such a crappy season then he died like it. He was such a sweetie pie, and seeing this happen to him was heartwrenching.

I cry just thinking about it. I think everyone's nerves are raw and that's why there are fights.

I never posted before, but I have come here many times before.

    Everyone seems pretty nice.

I never felt that sad about a character before, but George always had that very special place in my heart.

    It's hard to let go.

  2. Nano

I agree. Enough fighting. I'm so sad George is dying, and this fighting makes it worse.

Let's remember the best George moments and pay tribute to an awesome character.

So what was everyone favorite George's moment?

Mine was when he walked Izzie down the aisle. It was such a selfless gesture to do. Also, when he kept smacking Izzie on the butt with the newspaper and talking about rosebuds. Hee hee, George was so funny!

  3. Michelle

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

    Stop the fighting.

I'm a HUGE George and Gizzie fan, but I'm tired of the arguments.

Who do people never respect each other's opinions?

Anuflas is not bashing George. She is just saying he's isn't perfect. She's right.

    He isn't.

If he was, I wouldn't love him so much. Nobody here is saying George is a bad person.

We all know he's a good person. We're just saying they all have their faults. Faults and all, George will always be my favorite.

I don't think fighting about opinions and insulting each other helps any though.

  4. Bonnie

Sabrina, I don't think Anuflas hates George at all. I never got that impression from her posts. She even said she would miss George.

As for Derek, I agree that he has never been mean to George and is usually a good person. He's my favorite guy after George and MerDer is my favorite couple after Gizzie.

I still can't imagine watching without George and Gizzie scenes.

I really missed him a lot this season, and it ruined my enjoyment of the show.

If I watched, I would always remember what might have been.

I hope we can stop fighting here.

We all seem George fans here. We just disagree on some things.

It's getting tiresome reading all the fights.

    Let's agree to disagree.

  5. Sabrina

Your childhood and teenage years are not everything. There's your adulthood. Mark, Alex and Derek had a nice one. They got respect, admiration, success and even love.

From what I've seen on my screen the last five years, George has had it a LOT tougher than those guys.

What makes him better? Several things: he apologizes, takes responsibility for his actions, never resorts to abusiveness, doesn't think he is God, treats all his patients the same regardless if it can't advance his career or not (whether it's a little case or a big one), cares about them, and never has tried to hurt someone intentionally.

He's a guy who made mistakes but has done everything in his power to never hurt anyone and when he has, he has felt remorse for it.

I don't remember Alex, Mark or Derek ever feeling remorse for anything.

I don't know. I think those are pretty valid reasons to why he's a better person.

I think if Alex and Mark had killed people, you would still bring up their bad childh

  6. GG

I think George is a better nicer person. The others have hurt people and be mean, and George never was.

That makes him better IMHO, but I am seeing the arguments here and I don't think anyone will ever agree so maybe we should drop it.

I'll always believe George was the best. He taught me to be a better person, so I have been reading your arguments about why he is no better and they don't compute for me.

I have yet to understand how anyone can think George is not a nicer, better person than the rest. He is, it's so obvious to me and it seems to others, but this discussion is just going in circle.

Both sides have said their arguments and it just seems to be the same sprouted up over and over again.

George to me wasn't an angel, but he had the kindest soul and heart on TV.

He didn't have one mean bone in his body and he died to save another human being. That was him. I don't think anyone else on the show would have done it.

I do think that's what Shonda had that woma

Actually Shelly, I was too. High School wa HELL for me, hell. I actually graduated underweight due to the stress that the rejection came with. It was awful. I actually cried out of happiness when I left.

So yeah, I see where George is coming from (as well as geeky Derek) but we all move on. I'm finishing college and I do believe that it is the time of my life. It has passed. George got to be a surgeon (I'll be just a plain business woman) and save lives. He made it through.

So did the rest of them. Mark & Derek are successful world class surgeons who have gone through hell and have pulled off. They have won the war. Alex & George still had to go (which is why I kinda hoped that Izzie was the one that died) and fight it. I was making a point that George's battle was "lighter" (I can't find another word) than the one of Mark, for example.

I don't think we'll ever reach an agreement because I still have yet to read the response of whoever makes me see a valid reason of w

  8. Steffi

    George was the man.

    No doubt about it.

George and Izzie's connection just felt right. They were beautiful. I still miss them. When Alex married George, I dreamed it was George there.

  9. Shelly

And George did fight for himself. He fought to have a second chance at the exam, and he got it. He fought to be a resident, and he did it. He fought to even make it to that hospital. He barely made the test but fought to be admitted. He also fought for everyone he loves, from Meredith to Izzie, and for everyone of his patients.

  10. Shelly

You know, what? I don't think you can understand what it is to feel rejected and to feel different from everyone until you lived it.

I did. It didn't matter that my parents loved me more than anything. I felt like they loved me because they had to but they didn't like me or understand me, and this is how George felt.

I got teased a lot for being different at school just like George did.

Like George, I didn't fight back and you know why? Because I thought they were right about me and I didn't believe in myself or like myself. They said so much I was weird and uncool and all that, I believed them.

So yes I got why George didn't fight for himself.

I was lucky because I found a guy who loved me for myself , loved everything there was about me and then I found true friends who believed in me, and it helped me feel better about myself and trust in myself.

I now have a wonderful husband and wonderful kids and friends, and I learned to love myself and see that my differences

Ok, either I'm explaining myself wrong or people are taking this in a wrong way.

What I am trying to say with the family issue is that it does help you to get through. George got through High School. He had support. He had love. He has known stability his whole life. Part of who he is is how he was raised. George is a good person because of how his parents treated him. It's not dismissing all the good things he made but he has a more stable background than the rest.

In the case of Mark and Alex, they had parents that didn't give a crap about them. At my eyes, that is a tougher battle to go through.

Derek had a more stable life. Although I'm no shrink here, I am sure that having his father murdered must've taken a toll on him. It's not something you just get over. Like I said, Mama Shepherd call up on him still being angry. He has been living decades with anger.

What I mean here is that Derek, Mark, and Alex went through tougher times because they didn't leave their proble

  12. Carole

I think it's pretty demeaning to George to dismiss all the good things he did by saying he had a good family.

95% of the people are jerks, and a lot of them come from happy families.

George cared about people and always tried to help them. He even died to save someone.

He deserves respect for that, not someone just saying Oh it was easy for him to be nice because he had a nice family.

It feels like you're dismissing everything good he ever did by saying this.

  13. Suz

Derek might have been drunk the first time he slept with Meredith but he wasn't in the months that followed where they continued to sleep together. I don,t blame Mer, she didn't know.

And you seem to forget their second affair. You know, when he told Addison he really wanted to fight for their marriage and was serious about it and dumped Meredith. Then he kept following Meredith around at the hospital, not letting her move on for him, basically stalking her and having an emotional affair with her. Then when Meredith tried to move on, he called her a whore (there's no excuse for that, and George got hurt plenty of times by women and he never called them that). Then there was the affair at the prom while his wife and ehr boyfriend were right next door. They weren't drunk at all, were they?

Compare that with George who had one night with Izzie and was so drunk, he didn't even remember it at all the next day. Derek remembered what he had done, and stayed with Mer after the alcohol wo

  14. Shelly

George was bullied and ignored in high school. Do you have any idea the number of people who are bullied in high school commit suicide or kill other people even though they ahd loving families. It happens all the time.

George was again subjected to the others' meanness and humiliation when he was older only because he happen to be different and more sensitive. He could have easily become a bitter, mean person too.

You don't think George ahd fights? His family might have loved him, but they didn't understand him at all and were completely different than him. He said so himself. He felt lonely and misunderstood.

Later on, he had to fight to even make it to the Seattle Grace program and then his very first day, he was given a surgery that was much too difficult and earned unfairly the nickname of 007. He had to fight to earn any respect from the others. He then got his heart broken by Meredith. He got syphillis. His father died. He failed his exam by one point. His marriage faile

    As for the Alex/Mark/George.

Alex & Mark are seriously troubled, screwed up people. Why does that make them horrible persons?

Here's the thing for Alex. YES, if you don't know better how can you do better? Izzie hasn't said or told Alex to stop being an ass, while in their relationship. How is Alex going to stop when no one calls on him?

My dad had a bad childhood because of my grandparents. Yet, my mom set him straight once they met and even though that it took him a while, he's a different person, but here's the deal: SOMEONE CALLED UP ON HIM. Who has called Alex's crap? No one. So yeah, he can't be Prince Charming on his own.

As for Mark, he is what he is. He isn't afraid, he isn't ashamed. He lives on his own rules. Why living like that makes him worse than George?

In "In the Midnight Hour", Mark told the little girl that he was raised by parents who didn't care for him. He later told Derek that what his mom did for Mark, was a good thing.

    George grew up wi

How do I dare to compare them? Because they're all the same. The show has placed them to be percerived differently but they have all made the same mistakes but apparently for some characters it is justified. Izzie said it: Just because people make bad choices doesn't make them horrible people.

I'll divide my opinion in two posts.

    Here's where I stand with Derek/George/Mer.

Derek & Mer were a ONS and they were drunk. Meredith didn't knew he was married, Derek didn't even knew her name. George, like Derek, KNEW what they were doing. Yes, they were both drunk and sure, it can cloud your judgement but it is still not excusable. They both were married, they both were cheating, regardless of the pain that that marriage had caused them.

I don't understand how they're situations are any different. They both committed adultery. They both hurt their ladies in different ways. Why does that make George better than Derek? Because Derek screwed up first and had marital anmensia? Or i

I can't believe you would even compare George to Alex and Mark. They're mean, cruel assholes. George made mistakes but he didn't have a mean bone in his body. He helped Alex when Alex failed, and he died to save a woman who had ignored him.

It doesn't come better than that.

George and Izzie had true love. Nobody or nothing will convince me otherwise. That's how TR and Katie played it. Katie said it herself, noone made Izzie happier than George. She was at her happiest with him.

    She saw it too.

The haters spammed polls and yelled extra-loud. It's pretty obvious Shonda loved Gizzie and wanted them, but got scared of some of the most fanatic Alex and Izzie fans.

Katie never plays Izzie as if she's in love with Alex.

I think she truly loved George and Denny, but Alex? No way! Shonda is just scared of their fans.

That,s why the 100th episode was completely catered to their whims.

  18. Gina

Yes Didi, you'll still watch until your favorite character leaves, but George is my favorite character, so I won't be watching.

You can't compare George to Erica. Erica wasn't well accepted by the fans, while George was much beloved by most of them.

Losing George is a much bigger blow to the show than losing Erica.

If you said you'll leave if your favorite character does, I guess you can understand why the George fans, who have George as a favorite character, want to leave, do you?

  19. Anna

Are you kidding me? I'm so sick and tired of hearing Alex doesn't know better. That doesn't excuse him making bets on when Denny will die, shocking his heart in a way to cause him the most pain possible and then smiling cruelly when Denny screams in pain. He must know hurting a dying man is not ok. George went through hell, humiliation and people hurting him and rejecting him over and over again yet he never developed a nasty streak.

I have a friend who was severely abused as a child and his lifelong mission has been to be as different from his dad as possible. He didn't have to be taught not to be abusive and to be nice. He just was, so I'm tired of Alex being excused for everyone of his disgusting actions with the he had a bad childhood excuse. Many many people do and they don't become abusive jerks for it.

Calling Izzie a stupid bitch, saying he is tired of the sound of her voice, saying he is contemplating snuffing her out with a pillow, is all abusive.

TR quitting because of lack of storyline? Maybe true, maybe not. Until it is a known statement, it'll remain in the air. But I can bet you that at least there was some negotiation during those times. And I am sure that at least it was a storyline. George got to be the hero at the end. It was TR's choice to walk out. He hasn't said why. Why are you assuming that it is because Shonda refused to write him in? She isn't the only one calling the shots here. We don't know what really happened.

There is more to this. We can't accuse Shonda of something that we don't know.

    The Alex/Mark/Derek issue...

Alex and Mark are jerks. Why are you surprised? They have been since the moment they were introduced to the show. This shouldn't have come to a surprise.

Alex slept with a married woman, so did Mark. That puts them at the same level.

Derek slept with Mer while being married, Georgle slept with Izzie while being married. That puts them in the same level.

    Alex is sometimes ver

I'm remembering the big fuss about Erica being written out, now that was a shock to the actress and us GA fans. Burke disappeared cos the actor was stupid. We all noticed George was having little screen time, he was out of favour with the producer who constructed GA as a programme. But it's too late now, today they start filming, TR won't be there. I guess it'll be a difficult time for his friends among the cast(KH and EP)cos the cast and crew won't have said a proper farewell. So we can't get back season 5, we can't alter what's happened. No doubt Shonda will misjudge things again, and the audience figures will be her main concern. But GA won't stand still, it'll carry on evolving. I will still be watching until my fav character leaves

  22. Margaret

George got killed after being disfigured. That makes him more shafted in my nook. Izzie got married. Meredith got married. Mark and Lexie have each other. George was alone, and his friends forgot him. That makes him more shafted too.

George made mistakes but he never set out to hurt anyone, which is more than you can say about the others.

He ahd a huge heart, and all it did was get him killed.

He didn't even get to make it as a doctor after working so hard.

I rewatched the George moments from season 5 last night and was finished in less than 20 minutes. That's not acceptable.

  23. Farrah

This is about George too. It's talking about the possibility of a funeral for him too.

Everyone knows MerDer are NOT getting married in the premiere. It has been confirmed the priest is for George.

MerDer are Shonda's new George. They'll always be screwed over. Shonda will always love Mexie and AI, the two worst couples in the world, a lot more.

Shonda gave TR the option to stay. She should have fought tooth and nails to convince him to stay, and given him everything he wants just like she did with Katherine.

She wouldn't have had to do much too: only give him a story.

What she did in season 5 is disgusting. I'd be ok with George not getting story. It happens to every character, but she cut him out completely of the show. She never did this to any other character.

George has a huge fanbase, and Shonda's been acting like nobody cares about George.

She didn't fight at all to keep him. If TR had felt TPTB respected him, he never would have left.

    They made him feel

But all those other characters found love and some happiness. They had love and friends and screentime. George had NOTHING and died.

You can't possibly compare. The others at least got some happiness and sucess to compensate and survived.

    George got nothing and died.

So he got screwed over a million times more than anybody, and that's been the case since season 1.

Alex and Derek are both verbally abusive to women. Mark is an cruel jerk to most people.

George has never been verbally abusive or cruel.

Yes, he made bad choices which mostly hurt himself, except for falling in lovee with Izzie which hurt Callie and HIM.

Bad choices don't make you a bad person.

Hurting other people on purpose and being mean that makes you a bad person.

George made one mistake in his life. The others made so many, you can't even count.

Izzie got cancer but she got Alex, then she gained Cristina and Mer's friendship.

George's friends forgot he existed, and he lost Izzie.

    I'm

to bindie: you are right, I have not met 1% of the greys fan base - and as that 1% would actually be in the millions, you haven't met 1% of the fan base either. I'm expressing my own opinion - same as you.

in case no one noticed ALL of SGH were shafted this season
    Post it for DerMer
    Cancer for Izzy
    Bus for George
Callie had her heart broken and was ditched by her family
the love of Alex's life is dying (sort of)
    Christina got chocked
    owen has PTS
Even the HOSPITAL was shafted, number 12?

this is not just about george, but about the way the writers are screwing everyone over.

And yes this is about DerMer, we're suppose to be commenting on a wedding for S6
