I can see Mer Der falling out if Der becomes Chief. Mer isn't afraid of pushing the boundaries and Der will say 'as my wife I don't expect you to act like that, I expect you to set an example'. But if they love each other even when they hate each other, they'll leave their arguments at work.
Also will Meredith be treated differentl cos she's the new chief's wife. Will everyone think she's being favoured again?

I've watched the 2nd promo, and the bit where the chief and Der talk.
It sounds like Der said.'Ernst made me take the job(?)' the chief replies 'Take my job'.
But I'm not sure if I heard that correctly.

'All six couples likely won't make it to the end of the season intact, says Vernoff.'
So who thinks this couple is merder? I keep this sentence in my head over and over again, and the more i think about it, the more i think is merder, because it´s the way Shonda work (look at past seasons 1,2,3,4,). Please i need to read some positive thoughts (blushing )
if you do not think that it´s merder, Which couple do you think that it´s going to break up?? I think is merder (unfortunately) or Cris/Hunt (i love both) :/

IT could be that the chief may be suspended for ignoring a DNR. I guess the Chief would have to deal with the board of the hospital, or his peers, fellow surgeons/drs who would review his actions. If he's suspended it would explain Derek's taking over the responsibility if running the hospital, and why a spoiler saying all the residents are unsure where their futures lie.
Interesting possibilities. But I miss the swagger all the residents and attendings had when SGH was rated higher

Ace,
What I meant was, I don't mind Derek being Chief while Webber takes he's little time out, or whatever is going to happen. I mean eventually, when Baily is an attending, even if it's another two seasons or the very last episode ever, I want to see her end up as chief. Even if it means that Derek is Chief and then in the very last episode passes it on to her. This is just one thing I really want to see happen on the show.

I have a feeling that Izzie is really going to be the one havin a hard time with the marriage. I wonder if she'll continue to practice medicine. And i'm still kinda wondering what she was doin in Derek's trailer (spoiler pic)?! I just truly hope that Alex and Izzie somehow make it work. I have been pulling for this couple for such a freakin long time. I can't imagine one of them without the other. At least one couple should be able to have a semi normal marriage on Grey's. I truly hope it's Alex and Iz.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Chief taking a break and to see what Derek can do,
- The DNR thing, taking the medical profession seriously, the Chief should at least face suspension; he got away with the LVAD. For me that would be some retribution for Hahn.
-I grew a disliking to him when he gave Torres the CR job and told Bailey she is better than “paperwork and admin”, what does that mean about Torres’s surgical abilities. He never gave her the support system she deserved or at least the same respect she gave Bailey. Reiterating what Torres said about Bailey being the Chief’s favourite. A man responsible for grooming doctors should not show favouritism.
-The SGH Board is all about the bottom line, he should be in trouble for purchasing a “robot” to impress a resident into choosing his side. An item that has minimal use to the hospital or the rest of the specialities. And that he turned down a sizeable donation from Torres’s dad.
-Him punishing Yang for the intern

soso,
I don't think the DNR would get Webber in trouble with Jennings; Jennings is more of a bureaucrat for hospital-politics. Granted, Webber couldn't keep his two chief cardio surgeons on staff (Burke and Hahn); going under the assumption that the Board didn't make a better offer to retain Dixon full time, losing her wasn't necessarily Webber's fault. And despite other negatives (i.e. the flood, the drop in hospital ranking, the lawsuit against Shepherd, etc.), Webber has produced much more favorable press for SGH:
- Burke winning the Harper Avery
- Surgical intervention by Torres using freezing to make a patient walk that wasn't an ideal candidate
- Shepherd being published for the Shepherd(-Grey) Method
- Successful Domino-surgery
- Successful surgery of a non-operable tumor (the Anatomy-Jane episode)
- World-class neurologist saved by world-class neurosurgeon
- Recruitment of Hunt and thereby reclassing SGH back to a Level I Trauma Center
And I don't believe Jennings

Oh no, that article in Us Weekly sounds like Alex and Izzie are not gonna make it as a couple to me, which would be sooooo sad :( No!!! I just want them to be happy, but could imagine there'd be problems. I mean it already came up shortly in the season5 finale with (even though in frustration) Alex basically saying he only married Izzie because they thought she would die. Plus, I agree what was said above, Izzie will probably be like "Why did George have to die and not me". Sad... I wish they could just be happily living together as a married couple.

Sophie,
Webber can't "hand" Chief of Surgery to Bailey primarily because she isn't through with her residency yet. According to various sites, season 6 (at least the beginning) will pick up where season 5 ended, which means Bailey is still a resident. During season 3 when Bailey was trying to get the clinic up and running, Webber said that it was Bailey in the chief's chair eventually, meaning when she's through residency, when she's had enough experience as an attending, she would be a perfect fit for Chief of Surgery for SGH; keep in mind though when he hold her this, Bailey was still a 4th year general surgery resident. When she became a 5th year general surgery resident in season 4 and 5, Webber was mentoring her to succeed him as the next best general surgeon, not necessarily the very next chief of surgery. Also, the fact that Derek Shepherd has been a SGH-attending for two years now, has years and years of experience, which still trumps Bailey, in terms of experience, whom wou

I don't mind Derek being a temporary chief but when the chief hands over for real, I want it to be Baily. She'd be perfect, plus it kinda seemed like all last season the chief was prepping her to take over from him when he eventually retires.

I'm wondering if the chief's judgement is questioned by the chairman. The chief is still trying to improve SGH's rating and if the news of the DNR being ignored re Izzie, then the chief may be asked /or ask for a timeout? Derek was appointed last time, so he steps into the breach, but it's temporary?
I know we were speculating about a storyline for Der, this could be a biggie but I don't want Der as chief to be the disaster like the disaster that happened when Callie was chief resident! Maybe a chief who doesn't realise a post it is not a marriage certificate is a big'reverbaration'?
It would be too much for MerDer to break up again, and I hope Shonda realises that. But Shonda has made mistakes with GA, I just hope someone in her staff reads fan sites and gives her feedback. From what I read after the writers strike, from what Ellen and Patrick said, I don't think that they would want to revisit the off/on MerDer relationship again.

I think that Derek says either "You are asking me to take the job" or "Meredith told me to take the job". I think it's the first one but I read on another board that may be the second one.
I really think that MerDer are past that crap of triangles and break ups but I see where you're coming of.
It would be unrealistic and too much another break up. Like you said, both the fans and the actos are tired of this back and forth so I don't think it's going to sit well with them IF it happens. I wouln't worry about it much. They passed S5, together, engaged, and 'married'. Plus, the article refered to them as 'cohabit blissfully'. That's not a negative 'reverberation'. :)
It's somebody else's turn to suffer. A/I are destined for a bumpy road but I think that either L/M (but this one I hope it's permanent) or O/C are going to go through the hell that MerDer went for their happy ending.

Bye, George - Did you hear? George doesn't make it. "It's going to be sad and painful," executive producer Krista Vernoff tells Us. Love fills the void: Cristina and Owen forge ahead ("The relationship is less fragile," McKidd says); Mark and Lexie are "freaki adorable," says Vernoff; and MerDer cohabit blissfully, though Pompeo's October due date will necessitate a unique plot.
