anuflas they kind of did show a possible specialty for Izzie. Remember in the 2nd season when addison said that Izzie had a gift for ob? That could have been a possibility but I really don't think so,so I'm gonna say peds or oncology. I actually really didn't see much specialty ideas for meredith but u do mention a good point about neuro and general.
I definetly agree that this season was kind of blah because of the hallucination saga (I can't bear to watch those episodes except parts of sympathy of the devil,stairway to heaven,and rise up.) I really enjoyed the episodes from beat your heart out on (especially the finale! I'm sorry but that made up for the whole season)

I completely forgot about Peds for Izzie...you may be right about that. It's just that since the show never showed a 'favorite' specialty for her, aside from the Clinic, it's kinda hard to guess for her. Maybe she'll find inspiration about Bailey's term in Peds? It's why I don't know if she'll continue with surgery.
As for Alex, yeah, I guess you might be right that he'll stick to Trauma. Hunt might be his new mentor. He hated OB but Addie made him softer in that area. I don't know if Peds is for him...
The most interesting to me to see it's going to be Mer. I totally see jude's point of having the Chief influencing Mer's choice of specialty. There is going to be some hard conflict there between the Chief and Derek. I think Derek is going to be very strong about having her choose Neuro.
That actually gets me excited about this season, because frankly, so far it hasn't done anything for me.

I had wondered whether, for Meredith, it would be general surgery or follow Derek into Neuro. I can see the chief trying to influence her into general surgery, and Derek trying to tempt her into Nuero. I'm still not sure.
Alex was told he was 'one to watch' by Arizona and Hunt, so that's why I kinda assumed he'd stay in paediatrics. I think he wanted plastics at first cos of the money he could earn, but he keeps showing an understanding of kids.
I have no idea about izzie though.

I kind of agree with u anuflas for some of the specialties. Here's the thing.
I think Christina is going to go for either cardio or oncology for sure nothing else
Alex would not be suited for trauma @ all because he is as he quoted "not good under pressure" and trauma is at the momemt treatment."WAY TOO MUCH PRESSURE. Plastics ehhhh.... he used to want to do plastics but he's not interested anymore because he moved on to ob/gyn. So I do think that he would go for peds or ob (regardless of which attending is there)
I completely agree with ur ideas about Mer choosing a specialty
Now Izzie I think she loves surgery and she's definetly going to have the most diffcult time choosing a specialty but she's definetly going to continue being a surgeron that is for sure. I think she would go for either oncological surgery (because of her being a cancer survivor and some inspiration) or peds (just becase of her happy positive outlooking personality) but who knows what's going to happ

This is how I think it's going to be...
I think Mer is going to ponder between Neuro (for Derek) and General (b/c of her mom). I can see her choosing General and being a conflict with Derek, although I'd love if she chose Neuro. I am torn between this.
For Izzie, I honestly don't know if she's going to continue with surgery. Maybe after her cancer she's going to want to find a cure and choose Oncology? Or just stick with something lighter like the Clinic? I'd actually be surprised if she sticks to Surgery after all.
Alex, I don't think Peds is for him. I think it'd be either Plastics or Trauma. I got to a point to think that it'd be OB/GYN but with Addie gone, I think his inspiration to that specialty is gone as well.
Yep, Cristina is going to Cardio but it's urgent that a Cardio Attending is back! Cris had more surgeries in Neuro and Oncology than Cardio.

I'd love for MerDer to have a honeymoon, and get a marriage certificate too. I can't imagine with George's death that they would do their honeymoon too soon afterwards. Combine it with Der winning the Harper Avery (is the Harper Avery award as fictional as SGH?).
I know Cristina is going to do cardio, Alex is going to do peads. I can't figure out what Meredith and izzie are going to specialise in.

I'd like instead for the residents to focus on what their specialty is going to be. As far as I'm concerned, Richard told everyone that until their third year they'd be specializing in general surgery before they pick a specialty.
This would be the time where they start exploring that...why not instead have that as a focus over the new interns!

Some spoilers say that there will be some stand alone episodes this season, probably among EP's maternity leave or after. This could cover a couple of episodes. Also, if it's a positive, maybe a honeymoon? MerDer have been through so much, you'd think they had a break.
EP should take as much time as needed. Good thing that she's a trooper and wants to make the show but she needs some days to rest. I'll miss her for sure.

I have read an episode spoiler, that a female doc tells a heart patient that she is a third year resident. I think Mer/Alex/Cris/Iz will be third year residents cos of the new bunch of interns. Lexie will be a second year resident. There will be new characters, but there is a core of 12 cahracters whose storylines we will follow.
Mini-mes. Well George's won't have a match up. Mer's mum was a legendary surgeon. Mer also slept(unknowingly) with an attending. So are they really going down that storyline again?
Ellen's maternity leave is getting ever closer. I read an article from some bigwig saying that Ellen will miss two episodes. Shonda has been quoted as saying Ellen will go on maternity leave with a positive Meredith storyline. I think that we're going to be distracted by the writers so as we won't notice Mer is missing. I can't think how they are going to explain her absence if Der is there. I'm dreading it, Meredith is my favourite character. But Ellen should have recovery and f
