Just a few things.
Again, I do NOT justify Derek's actions. The fact that he has (like George) owned up to his actions is just passed by because...why exactly? Because you don't like him? Because he isn't George? He has apologized and paid for his mistakes. Meredith forgave him, why shouldn't I?
Case in point, if he hadn't asked Addie for forgiveness or in the divorce hadn't admitted his own fault, he'd be on my black list. But he did. He took full responsibility even after he found out that Mark and Addison also had a relationship back in NYC.
I make the George/Derek comparison in the bigger picture because obviously there are details that can't be compared. Both were cheaters, both made adultery, both paid up. Same thing.
Oh, and did you miss the first episodes of S3? Derek did the dating and the competition with Finn. He walked away from Mer at the end to give her a better life with Finn. She made the choice of Derek being the one.

I'd like to add that this whole thing started because one person said one bad word against Mark. It seems Mark and Alex are the ones we are forbidden to insult, not George.
And yes, George was very loved. I don't think you can deny that.
Many people considered him the heart of Grey.

OK I am not JF or Lina, but having read what they said, you seem to have misunderstood some of the really good points made by the George fans.
Smoker called George pathetic and sad-looking and weak. Nobody said you did.
I agree George is the strongest. He is definitely the strongest under pressure, something even Alex acknowledged this season, and something we saw both in the elevator surgery and in the case with the suicidal jumping patient. In both cases, Alex froze while George never skipped a beat and saved those two people who would have been dead if left to Alex's care.
Then there is the fact George redid his internship. When Alex failed, he became a jerk to everyone and cheated on Izzie. He couldn't cope. George did.
There was also the fact Alex humiliated George when he failed while George did make fun of him at first, but then helped him because he was family. It takes a lot of strength to help someone you hate because it's the right thing to do.

I meant why is looks the issue to it. The joke was funny. I just find that instead of personality differences, it had to do with looks the entire problem.
Plus, calling Mark insensitive jerk doesn't apply to looks, does it?

Do you really see that way? Read the entire thread. Find one post that actually defend any of the men (outside of mine or smoker's). Hard time, right?
I can't speak for V but he/she gave me a compliment, I'll take it. You'd have to take it out with him/her about the sanity issue.
Again, Mark wasn't close to George. I can't fully blame him for the joke because to him, George was just someone else in the hospital, no relevance to him.
I could argue about the mistakes thing but I'm actually too tired and mentally worn off of having a different opinion.
I'm not sure what the stand is for the Chief but I really need some background on him. We know so little.

I never called George pathetic. Not sure who did but I didn't. Let me explain myself about the weak link issue. He was the weak link at the beginning. He was 007. George didn't have the same rush of ambition that the rest had. Doesn't mean that he's much worse because of it but this is what it was supposed to be.
Strongest? Not sure how. I'll need an explanation here because your definition of strong may not accord to mine.
See the first episode again. Burke chose him to terrorize him so the rest will fall into place. He chose George because George was safe. Owen might have seen past the safe George to Trauma George but Burke's reasons of choice certainly weren't professional.
For the Mer/George. He took responsibility later. After he had made Meredith's life hell for some time. I didn't like Mer until S4 but even here I felt for her. She admitted her fault, she apologized to George but George couldn't even look at her? He couldn't be in the same room with her. That ha

No actually it's the opposite. The moment we dare to say a word aginst saint Alex and Mark, poor George gets dragged under the bus (puin intended).
I'm not saying George is perfect but in my opinion, he was the one with the kindest biggest heart.
It seems Krista agrees with this, singling Izzie and George out as the two ones with the biggest hearts.
George is not perfect or I would not like him. He made mistakes, but he never intentionally meant to hurt anyone and he was never intentionally cruel to anyone, which I don't think you can say about anyone.
You have every right to defend Aklex and Mark, but we have every right to be angry at Mark dissing George completely when he just died and when he just died a hero, and we have every right to be mad at Mark for not even having the decency to admit what George did was brave instead of treating him like some total loser and never giving him any merit at all.

when did I became the picture of sanity or sainthood here because according to all of you I'm the crazy one here because I don't find George the same way you people do? Seriously. I am not entitled to like Mark or Derek because they had made more mistakes than George? Before you judge me, AT LEAST consider that people can differ on their likes or dislikes because if all people liked the same thing, it'd only be the same for all.

George was a freaking hero. He lived like one and he died like one. He was also the best characetr this show ever had, and the funniest.
As for Alex not committing adultery, if your husband cheated on you, would thta mean you wouldn't think the woman he was sleeping with did anything wrong? It would be all your husband's fault?
And you are right, Izzie ^didn't stay away from George, but George stayed away from her and George is the one we are talking about here.

Anuflas, you are the one who found the jokes on George's looks so funny, so why criticize someone for bashing Mark's looks? So it's ok to bash George's looks, a character many of us love, but not Mark, because you like him?
Well, you said bashing George's looks made Lexie feel better, so maybe bashing Mark's looks make us George fans feel better.
And like you said, it's so funny to do it.
To me, Mark looks like some wax figurine. Beautiful but lifeless.
George wasn't as hot, but he had so many emotions on his face. He had warmth and kindness and an interior light that brightened every room he was in.
He had this soothing presence that immediately made you feel better when you saw him.
Mark is replaceable by any model on the street. George (or TR) has this special IT quality that is unique. Nobody could replace George or TR.
George was the heart and soul of this group. He was the sanest and strongest, which is why Izzie wanted to be more like him.

Cristina wasn't always offensive to George. She was there for him when his dad died. She got upset when Alex yelled at him about Meredith, and told Burke not to kick him out that night. She gave Burke up because she didn't want him to kill George's dad. In the deleted scene, she was worried the war would change George and erase his sensitive heart. BTW, Owen thought they were all underestimating George and George wasn't Bambi anymore.
I agree. I don't get where this George is weak attitude comes from. Is it because he is sensitive and kind, and cares about everyone? That makes him strong in my book.
George to me is the guy who did heart surgery all by himself, tried to save a cat for hours, convinced Bailey to give birth, lost an important surgery when he denounced the anesthiolgist as being drunk, risked his job to help the nurses in their strike, redid his internship at the same hospital and never ever gave up on his friends, his patients or himself.

George was the weak link. How was that? He was the strongest of the gang. The one who worked harder than anyone, was the best under pressure (even Alex admitted it), the one who got the most recommendation letters and the one who died a freaking hero. To even call George pathetic and weak after he died to save a total stranger and got dragged down two blocks saving her is laughable.
There is a reason why he was Burke and Owen's guy because he was the best of them all. He had both the ability and the bedside manner.
Meredith said herself she totally knew what she was doing. She slept with George because he was George and he was so great an she wanted to be with someone like him, then she couldn't get through with it. I love Mer but I blame her a lot more than I do him. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she knew George loved her and she was in love with someone else, and she chose to do something knowing she was leading him on. George's adultery was still adultery. George's fans have managed to excuse his adultery by being drunk but not Derek's (whose first time he did say he was drunk) or the Chief's. Alex hasn't committed adultery, so far he's safe.
Besides, you just contradicted yourself on the not bashing by bashing Mark. He's not your ideal man but to some other people he is. I like him, a lot. Not as much as Derek but still.
FYI, Derek and the Chief both apologized for the adultery in case you missed it. Derek went to Addie's room and apologized about the panties and said in the divorce papers that it'd been entirely his fault (NOT) and gave Addison everything.
The Chief also constantly apologized to Adele in S4 and in S5, he told Derek that Adele had found a way to take him back. Seems like he did apologized after all.
Even Alex apologized to Izzie in the Christmas episode.
See? Everyone has acknowledge their cheating and apologized.

To answer smoker's question. I'd pick George over Mark. Mark is not my type at all, but George is. I'm in love with his eyes and smiles and hands. God those hands and the things they did to Izzie in that elevator.

I think it says a lot about your character that you would insult real people to protect some fictional characters. Get a grip!
And if you want to set a good example for high schoolers, maybe you should learn not to bash someone else's appearance, which is one of the hurtful things you can do to someone.
Bashing a fictional character is nothing as bad as bashing someone's appearance, calling him ugly and short.
Smoker above just bashed George's looks, saying he wasn't hot at all and we should prefer Mark to him because Mark was hotter.
Seriously? Is that what Grey is teaching? George was a great friend to Lexie. She was the one who was a horrible friend to him, something she knows herself. He did everything he could to make her forgive him, and forgive him for what exactly? What was his big crime? Not being in love with her. Ever thought the guy had just went through a divorce and a breakup and he was preoccupied.
And when did he ignore her? Wanting to have more than one friend in your life is not forgetting someone. He had went through his internship with the fab 4. Of course he wanted them to know first. He did care about Lexie though. He mentioned to Alex and Cristina how much he missed LEXIE and Izzie in a scene that got deleted. If he was just using her, he wouldn't have missed her at all.
