Chalk one up for ABC. On the first installment of what's sure to be the most competitive night on television, that network conquered all with one season premiere and one series premiere.

Here's a rundown of the evening's ratings:

8 p.m.
FlashForward: 12.4 million viewers
Bones: 8.8 million
Vampire Diaries: 3.8 million

9 p.m.

Grey's Anatomy: (17.1 million
CSI: 15.7 million
Fringe: 5.9 million
Supernatural: 2.6 million

10 p.m.
Grey's Anatomy: 16.5 million
The Mentalist (pictured): 14.3 million
