Alex and Izzie for so many reasons that I'm not going to write about :)
I think that Izzie loves Alex as much as you can love the guy after the love of your life died. Someone above me was right. Alex was her plan A and he screw it up. Then she was supposed to met Denny and he screw it up too because he died :)But she was devastated and thank god Alex wasn't her rebound boy. By her choice I have to say. I think her rebound boy was a George. Izzie and George's relationship was definitely a crush. Sorry GI fans but I think it's true. And then finally Alex showed his better side (season 4 finale). He was ready for relationship, Izzie was ready for relationship. They jumped into it. I think she married him for this reason:
"When I think about my future. Who I am now, who I want to be, how I want to spend the rest of my life. When you get that flutter in your chest. Alex. Alex is the man I love".

I like all the couples on the show. For me, MerDer is my favourite...but among the couples in this poll....Alex and Izzie.

Yeah, I dislike Izzie but I'm trying to warm up to her. I blame a lot on how her storyline was handled (a little too much of Izzie) but it's another season, another try.
The last episodes she has been less annoying so maybe S6 will change my opinion.

Of course Izzie/Alex is not winning. They are not a new couple LOL People are answering the question correctly. Which NEW couple is your favorite. My fave NEW couple is Owen/Cristina, but my fave couple of ALL couples is Alex/Izzie.

Alex and Izzie are not a new couple. People ship them since season one. This pool would be more 'real' if you really just ask about the new couples.

Wow I kind of felt alone on this forum because of all the A/I hate I've been reading recently,but now I'm at ease the hate has been more vocal these days and not only on the forum. Alex/Izzie is my favorite couple neck and neck with Mer/Der. I like the other couples too but it makes no difference to me if they break up or stay together (but I am starting to like O/C a lot)I am quite surprised that Mark/Lexie are on the top of the polls and beat A/I. But hey we will wait and see where these couples are throughout the season.

I think they mean that they are officially stabilized. No more breakups or whatever, not by new. Sort of like what MerDer is now.
And to me, it does still seem as second choice. True, Alex screwed up but she doesn't seem to love him the same way she loved Denny.

Alex and Izzie is my favouite ever tv couple, and also my two favourite characters. Lexie and Mark is my second favourite..glad to see so many voted for them!!

Oh I believe Alex loves Izzie. I just don't believe she loevs him the same way. Katherine Heigl said Izzie had a crush on Alex, but hadn't gotten to the fallen in love part when he cheated and then when it happened, it became lust for her.
Then when they got back together, she hallucinated about sleeping with Denny. We are now suppose to believe she's in love with him?
I don't.
I don't see the same passion with her as I did with both Denny and George.
I think the only reason why Shonda put them together is the fact they have incredibly loyal and vocal fans.
She never put the same love into them as she did with Dizzie and Gizzie.
And katie rarely plays Izzie as into Alex as he is into her.
Not criticizing, justs aying. BTW two of my best friends are AI fans and they see things the same way i do. In fact several AI fans have said Alex is more into Izzie than she is into him and that he came third to Denny and George.
It might change, who knows? But I'm not seeing

Oh, and for the poster who used fanfiction as a way to gauge couple popularity? First of all, the numbers were inaccurate due to the fact that several stories contain multiple couples. Secondly, I'd say that most viewers of Grey's Anatomy who are just casual viewers have no idea what fanfiction even is. I would venture to say that how many stories are written for each couple is far from an accurate gauge at who is actually most popular.

Just curious, but how is Alex and Izzie a new couple? They actually met before MerDer if you want to get technical. Not saying they were a couple first, but they were by no means a new couple. They, along with MerDer, are the only original coupling left on this show.
As for those who say that Alex was Izzie's Plan B. No. He was actually her Plan A. Alex cheated, and she was hurt and then went on a "love-a-thon" with Denny and George, but has ALWAYS come back to Alex. These two are the real deal. Alex said it best last season, "She's the one good thing to ever happen to me."

I only started watching Grey's Anatomy last year because of Alex/Izzie, but I ended up really liking Mark/Lexie too, so I'd say those two are my top choices...though like someone else said, Alex and Izzie aren't a new couple.
We haven't really gotten much detail on Arizona, so I'm not sure about her and Callie yet, and personally I don't really like Owen's character (but he does seem good for Christina...he brings out her humanity, lol).

all the couples are great, but owen and christina seem to have the most interesting storyline and their characters have a lot to offer. with arizona and callie, or mark and lexie, i feel like they need more depth and bigger stories to bring out their relationships style and to create more interest!! but dont get me wrong, they are all great!!

Kathleen, I believe you. It was the same with Gizzie. A lot of us loved them but we didn't comment much or post much while the haters did so people thought they weren't loved.
They won most missed couple recently and people were shocked too.
Sometimes a really vocal group of haters or fans can make it seem like a couple is more hated or loved than they really are.
I'm not a fan of Mexie, but I'm glad she isn't letting the haters get to her. I just wish she had the same guts with Gizzie. George might still be on the show.
I voted Crowen. They are the only couple I like here.

Aside from MerDer, gotta go with Cristina and Owen. Incredibly interesting.
I'm willing to give a chance to Mark and Lexie as well as Callie and Arizona.
Alexia, 100% agree with you on A/I. I like Alex but not sure if I like him with Izzie.
