According to Michael Ausiello, NBC may bring back this popular series later THIS MONTH!

Due to low ratings of current shows, along with the cancelation of Southland before its second season even premiered, the network is considering airing new episodes of Chuck long before their original debut date, spring of 2010.

Moreover, if this takes place, NBC will likely order additional episodes on top of the 13 already on tap.
