I agree with Ponk. It would be to strange and the timing, 1 year after his dead... I like Bart (I like the actor) and would love to see him in a flashback/dream or something but not alive. And the spoiler said MIGHT be alive. A dream can look very realy sometimes!

I believe Bart is really dead...no way he's coming back alive!!!
that would be kinda freaky and would be really complicated between R-L-Bart
I think the episode will only be about something unsolved that has to do with him...like maybe his death wasn't purely an accident, probably murder involved or something?

Bart being alive could actually tie in to that sad, sad storyline of the secret society (Clue: the father had a good reason to disappear). Personally, I prefer closure over a sloppy or nonexistent ending to a storyline, but people HATED the Elle/secret society foray with a rabid passion. According to spoilers, Chuck was supposed to find out about Bart's involvement with the secret society last season, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is where the writers are heading.

WTF? What has to do S's father with this?
Kristin gave the clues that I posted before and then told she was going to say who the daddy was, and in this post is the answer, the daddy that's ALIVE (at least that what she says, not flashback, not ghost, not Dickens-esque storyline) is Bart Bass.

I don't think it's some ghost/flashback thing, people, Bart is truly alive. Read what Kristin said when she was playing with the viewers so they can guess who the daddy is:
In honor of Halloween, we're dropping this spoilertastic bomb on all you TV lovers:
* A father who is supposed to be dead is coming back.
* And it looks like he might be aliiive, baby!
Spies on of one of the shows we love best—Gossip Girl, Lost, Dexter or Supernatural—tell us that the father of one of the hot TV men pictured above will be making his grand return in the next few months. And it probably goes without saying, but it's gonna be shocking.
In the meantime, a few clues to get you guessing:
* This father is good-looking.
* This father had good reason to disappear.
* His return will make not one but two beautiful blondes all atwitter.

Ashley, yeah agreed. Didn't know about the Scorsese pun. The Departed's a great film. You never know we might find out that Bart has been working undercover for the FBI for the past year and has now come back having discovered that Vanessa is in fact a kingpin mobster, sending her off to Sing Sing for 20 years hard labor.

Totally called this months ago... bang goes my AU story idea though :(
Oh well, I seriously can't wait for this! And as for making it realistic, I don't think that anybody has mentioned what I think is the most plausable reason -- Witness Protection anyone?
Maybe he's not a witness to anything, he's probably not, but we've been led to believe that Bart Bass was up there with Donald Trump in the wealth and power ranks... maybe someone was threatening him? Blackmailing him? Planning a kidnapping? If so, it would be in Bart's best interests to disappear for a while, and what better way to disappear then to stage a fake death.
I don't know, maybe I'm grasping at straws here, but just think of how many times this has been done in movies and other TV shows though -- what better way to give every single character a new and exciting storyline?
It totally screws up Lily/Rufus, it sends Chuck off of the deep end and Blair with him, and Eric and Serena & Dan and Jenny's lives ar
xo.

someone would have had to identify Barts body ..
that someone being either Lily or Chuck, as his next of kin, who would have obviously known whether or not it was Bart.
i think it will be in a dream sequence, like the ones that Blair has.

TO I'm Buck Chass: They're not doing an Aubrey Hepburn film reference for Bart. It's a spin on Martin Scorsese's ''The Departed'' (''The DeBARTed'').
I know a lot of people are thinking this is a dream/flashback sequence, but I'm HIGHLY doubting that's the case. Kristin, who gave us the answer to the question, said that TWO blondes will be "atwitter" regarding the undead father. Lily will be one of them but she said GG is the second one and I REALLY doubt that GG would twitter/blast a DREAM someone had. I never believed Bart was dead for a second.

Bart Bass pulled a Jack McKay on us. I so called this months ago.
"There's been an accident." Be more nondescript. Really.
And I believe this would have something to do with that man who Bart "killed" in the "fire" that he started in his building that he wanted to collect insurance on. Dan almost got him to spill before Chuck barged in and saved him from exploitation. They've got this set up perfectly, and I really don't mind a BH90210 repeat, that's what that show is for, right? :)

if they would get Bart back alive, in what kind of way. it's just not realistic. which bad father would do that to his son and wife. and the stories about, how great it would be when Chuck and Bart were closer before the accident. sometimes in life, you make mistakes, its about forgivness and dont have bad feelings for people, before you know it life is over. getting Bart back would just ruin that kind of thoughts.
pls no! that would just be way over the top... i'd like him in a flashback or dream sentence though...

Dear lord, they have to be flashbacks! if they're not.. in that moment we will know that GG has definitely taken a turn for the worst! We never saw anything and I admit that that's been bugging me since that episode, still does.
BUT the thing that always has me backtracking about the "not-dead-theory" is.. why wouldn't Lily notice such thing like that one? She must have seen Bart before they buried him. It would make no sense if she didn't. He was her husband for fck's sake!
They must be dreams or flashbacks!
