Grey's Anatomy Episode Guide: "Give Peace a Chance"

at . Comments

Last night saw Derek defy the surgical odds and the Chief of Surgery and not only come out victorious, but with a Zen-like mentality and peace that was inspiring to us all.

When the hospital's lab tech, Isaac, tells Derek he has the mother of all spinal tumors and wants him to operate, McDreamy doesn't know if he can. Fortunately, Isaac does.

Isaac has full confidence, even after Derek opens him up for 10 hours the first time and doesn't do a darn thing. You'll get it the next day, Isaac says, and Derek pulls it off.

Directed by Chandra Wilson, the episode revolved around only this story, with other characters and plots on the periphery, but still brilliantly done. Can someone say Emmy?

Operating Procedure

Dehydrated and stressed but Zen, Derek is determined not to lose this fight.

Arizona seems all optomistic, she's taking over Iz's role there. I found S5 too Izcentric, but I felt empathy again when she got fired. But I prefer Alex to Iz, always have. Alex and Iz are drifting apart, the wedding was too important; now the marriage is foundering.
Mer had it right, she didn't think the wedding was the big thing, it was the marriage she was looking forward to and the big thing. I'm glad MerDer are so getting the marriage right

I really liked the episode and liked that it was Derek-centric.
Lexie was awesome again as usual, I loved her kickass diaper speech! And of course, the MerDer scenes were so sweet...
Poor Cristina, lol! She really needs someone to guide her..someone who will recognize her potential.

Did You notice where is wedings post-it? In the frame on the MerDer bedroom on the wall.

This episode was just awesome. Chandra Wilson has done a great job.
When Reed persuaded Alex that he should go looking for Izzie, I was so confinced that she would show up (although I knew she wouldn't be in this ep)!!! I had to cry with Alex as he realized that Izzie wouldn't come. At that point I just liked Reed for being a FRIEND to him. NOT more. I'm a total A-I-fan. So friendship yes, relationship. NO!!!
Only one more ep to go then Izzie will be back for one ep.
Can't wait. Hope Izzie and Alex will sort it out somehow (at least in this season). After this episode I like Dereck even more. I mean, he always seemed too perfect until let's say end of season 4. And through last season we could see the real Dereck. And now, too. Which was great. Also loved Lexie in this episode. She and her diaper were just great. I so had to laugh. Owen and Christina are so great together! Especially the last scene, when he should here how to do it right. I'm not looking forward to the trouble in their relationship. I hope they will stay together after all. I so enjoyed the Meredith scenes. They were so nicely and smartly (or smart??? What is grammatically right????) done with her lying in the bed and there were really full of love with the picture on the wall und the post-it. Just aawww. After all really looking forward to next weeks ep and the week after that (finally Izzie coming back!!!Maybe her daughter is mentioned again. I so waited for this to finally come up again. I mean, does Alex know that his wife already has a daughter? I don't think so!!!) Anyway, best wishes from Germany and Europe.
Hope I did'nt make so much mistakes. Just correct me, if i did something wrong.

how come Ellen Pompeo is on MATERNITY leave and yet she shows up a little but on all the episodes...but Katherine, she's just sooo blahhh. >:@

MerDer in this was amazing! I loved how Derek told her about the surgery and stuff! When he drew on her wall she was like, "WTF?!" It was so adorable!!! I loved the diapers! It was like the highlight of the episode!
Seriously! :) Also, Derek is sooooo eventually gunna be chief! I feel it comin! He is amazing! I would never have the guts to speak up to my boss like that!

I didn't like it!
This show is becoming a new ER and I don't like it.
Miss old Grey's, their personal interactions, evenings at Joe's, more love aspect and so on...Greys become just an ordinary show about medicine with more medical aspect than humans

I totally agree with you deme. Meredith always was there for him and always supports him!! Last night were beyond amazing!! Love love them=D

the Derek's force is Meredith, because she supportes always Derek.I want a chief for SGH one as Derek.

I've been for following grey's since the first episode from the first season itself. this episode = best ever. period.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

Burke was- He took something from me. He took little pieces of me, little pieces over time, so small I didn't even notice, you know? He wanted me to be something I wasn't, and I made myself into what he wanted. One day I was me Cristina Yang, and then suddenly I was lying for him, and jeopardizing my career, and agreeing to be married and wearing a ring, and being a bride. Until I was standing there in a wedding dress with no eyebrows, and I wasn't Cristina Yang anymore. And even then, I would've married him. I would have. I lost myself for a long time. And now that I'm finally me again, I can't. I love you. I love you more than I loved Burke. I love you. And that scares the crap out of me because when you asked me to ignore Teddy's page, you took a piece of me, and I let you. And that will never happen again.
