Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked"

at . Comments

Welcome to TV Fanatic's Grey's Anatomy Round Table discussion! Below, our panelists break down some of the burning questions we're left with after Thursday night.

Topics for our "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked" Round Table include Derek going too far (or not), Alex and Izzie being over (or not) and a whole lot more:

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?

M.L. House: Arizona and Lexie drooling over how Mark can "make anything sexy." You can say that again, ladies! Better yet, don't say a word: just show it.

Mrs. Northman: Meredith: "Number one rule of surgery is limit exposure. Keep your hands clean, your incisions small, and your wounds covered. Number two rule of surgery is when rule number one stops working, try something else. Because sometimes you can't limit exposure, sometimes the injury is so bad you have to cut, and cut big." Gotta love Mer's words of wisdom.

iheartizzie: Owen: "People do matter. I matter. We matter."

L.J. Gibbs: AZ: "I have a cure for a headache that doesn't involve coffee." Wowza.

2. Do you agree with how Derek handled things with the Chief?

L.J. Gibbs: I do. The end justifies the means as far as I'm concerned, and someone had to intervene. Derek may be unpopular, but Bailey's major concerns about the Chief and Owen's rationale for doing what saves the most lives tell you everything you need to know.

Mrs. Northman: No! I thought McDreamy would've been more sensitive to the Chief, but at the end you see he handled it the way he did for his own selfish reasons. And I mean, really what do you think would have happened by pouring a glass of alcohol and placing it in front of a drunk. That's just mean.

M.L. House: Yes. It was adorable for Meredith to yell "Post-It" and everything, but let's be real: Richard was putting lives in danger and you can't solve marital disputes by just saying the words "marriage certificate."

iheartizzie: That's not easily answered. He obviously had concerns about Richard anyway, and was right to step in on behalf of patients who could be at risk. But Derek was clearly bitter on a personal level as well, and overstepped his boundaries with the alcohol stunt.

3. Can Cristina and Owen's strained relationship survive?

Mrs. Northman: I definitely believe that Cristina and Owen's relationship will survive this. C'mon people! It survived him almost killing her, it can survive this.

iheartizzie: Gosh I hope so. They have some of the best chemistry on all of TV, and lately, Sandra Oh is turning in Emmy-worthy material on a weekly basis.

M.L. House: It's not a question of surviving. It's a question of how much hotter it can get! If that make-out session is the result of a "strain" on a relationship, I've gotta go tell some dude he can have my wife!

L.J. Gibbs: Unclear. I'm still very worried about this Teddy girl and her motives.

4. Will - and should - Izzie and Alex get back together?

M.L. House: No, they will not. No, they should not. Alex said it well last night: Go away, Izzie, and never come back.

L.J. Gibbs: Maybe I'm in the minority but I think they have always been great together and will eventually find their way back to each other, even if happily ever after is a long way off.

iheartizzie: Here's the thing. I heart Izzie like no other, but we've already been through a full season of debating whether she'll be gone (in a different way) within a matter of months ... Enough! Let's get some resolution one way or another here!

Mrs. Northman: I don't think Izzie and Alex should get back together. It's like beating a dead horse. Let him move on to Lexie or someone else and let Izzie leave the show already!

5. Did Mark overreact to Lexie's confession?

L.J. Gibbs: He did, however in his defense, Lexie broke up with him prior to that. He found comfort in Addie, and while she did the same with Karev, he clearly views it differently.

iheartizzie: Perhaps. I can't decide if Mark's history with Addison and genuine (albeit short-lived) interest in moving to L.A. to be with her makes his dalliances better or worse.

M.L. House: Yes, but it was a natural overreaction. He probably went home and knew he invoked a pretty basic double standard, but who among us hasn't been guilty of that?

Mrs. Northman: Hmm... I go back and forth with this one. He did sleep with Addison as well - and they have a huge history together, but Lexie did break up with him right before his daughter was about to have a very risky surgery, then slept with Alex that same night. That's pretty cold. So, my final answer would be no. I guess he kind of had a right to be that mad.

my favorite moment?....Lexie and Mark is OVER!!!! thank heavens i wouldn't feel the need to puke everytime i see those 2 together.c'mon writers, give mark a REAL partner

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode? I have a couple. I loved Lexie's line about "recycling", it literally had me laughing out loud.
But I loved everything about Meredith and Derek fighting in the beginning of the episode. And Derek's "you make me so..." was VERY sexy. 2. Do you agree with how Derek handled things with the Chief?
I thought placing the bottle on the Chief's desk was a little much, but something definitely needed to be done. Meredith's nothing if not loyal, but Richard is in a position to affect a lot of people's lives, and his judgment can't be compromised. I think Derek should've have said something like, "Richard, I know your secret. So either you can tell the board or I can." Not sure I'm ready for Derek to be Chief, though. 3. Can Cristina and Owen's strained relationship survive?
I think Owen was incredible when, instead of fighting with Cristina, he decided to show her that she was wrong. I really hope for he can make her see that, it would be good for her.
Does anyone really think Mer would actually choose surgery over Derek? I thought she was just saying it for Cristina's sake, but I can't honestly imagine her doing it (didn't she jeopardize her career just by dating him when he was an attending and she an intern?). 4. Will - and should - Izzie and Alex get back together?
No and no. I'm with Alex, he deserves someone who won't break him. Because he was broken as a child and by Ava, I think. Izzie put him back together and made him grow up only to break him again. Alex deserves the real deal. 5. Did Mark overreact to Lexie's confession?
I'm sure he thought he was. I think you could justify either way. I'm sure he was hurt that Lexie slept with someone else so quickly, but she did announce the relationship was over. He picked something else over her. She was in it until he dramatically upped the ante. She shied away. She's young and doesn't want to be tied down so soon. Is that so wrong? At the same time, though, it was her who broke it off. Mark has the right to be hurt for awhile, though I think having sex with Addison was a step or two back in his development.

1. "I call post it/Don't McDreamy me". LOL, their fight is suppose to be intense but it can turn out funny. Oh, and Lexie's recycling/she's a whore comment. Hilarious. 2. Yes. It was mean and hit some low points but he gave the wake up call that Richard (and Meredith for that matter) needed about his alcoholism. He did it for the greater good but I wish we could get into his mind a little. 3. It's going to. I like that Hunt is opening Cristina's eyes about love. About time. 4. No. Alex DOES deserve better than Izzie. He is a good man that makes mistakes. Good riddance Iz. 5. Yes but with reason. Lexie acted like the young woman she is and Mark had her on a high pedestal for being the first one he has this type of emotional contact with. He's devastated. I can see where he is coming from.

for Christina burk is still the best for her i miss then together "he freaking key me before coffee" lol hope he come back!!!! i really miss him!!!!!
sloan and callie -- talking about spark and chemistry!!! they belong together.... izze should stop being whiny ... if she dose she can go back to alex!!!!
ps mcdreamy turns to macass*****

come on u guys!!! izzie and alex just have some probems!!! shonda had to explain KH absent somehow!!! and just because they have some problems it means they should get divorce? i mean.. come on!!! haven't u seen merder in about.. i don't know.. the whole series??? alex and izzie belong together!!!

1.What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the last episode?People do matter.I matter. We matter.and the last scene when Mer says loving vs surgery ,you choose surgery.
2.Do you agreed with Derek how handles things with the Chief?i'm agreed with Derek ,but there's a "BUT" dEREK did it for the good of the chief or for himself.
3.Can Cristina and Owen's strained relationship survive?Yes, it can.Teddy is boring, Cri has the guts and to the end she choise Owen indeed the surgery.
4.will-and should-Izzie and Alex get back together?I think the their love don't survive, because Alex says:love comes and goes
the surgery stay .Izzie don't must leave another time.
5.Did Mark overreact to Lexie's confession?Mak don't like as he overreactes, because he slept with Addison that's right undeed if Lexie slept with Karev that's no right. This thought don't like,If a woman does sex with another man ,she's a wore indeed if a man does sex with another woman ,he is a reason for doing it,this is a point of male view.
I must say a think ,this episode has been a great episode ,see it for several aspectes. The main discussion was Love vs Surgery.

1. "Izzy is gone, Mark has a daugther and you 2 decide that the best way to deal with it is get drunk and mash your genitals together I keep laughing for taht xD 2. I do, but I agree too with Meredith. I think Derek was thinking too in his own interests, and no just in what is best for the hospital. He wants to be chief, and I think he will make an awsome job, but what he did to the chief (giiving him alcohol and leting the glass there for him to drink it) wasn't nice. 3. I think Owen is magnificent. He is so perfect! I want someone
like him to love me ;_; Crhistina is really falling for him, and I think she is going to notice how much Owen loves her and start to care about their relationship (I think she already does that, but she doesn't want to admit it). 4. I think they wont, and that they shouldn't. I'm sure, and with this chapter I reafirm my opinion, that they wouldn't get married if Izzy hadn't had cancer. Probably they would have been together, but they had broke up and move on. 5. Absolutly NO. Mark was sorry when told Lexie about he and Addison, but Lexie was relieved! And what she told him, that they were equal... She was really stupid ans she handled it in the wrong way... And I also disliked that Lexie had broke up with Mark for the whole think with the daugther and granchild... she was scared, but Mark was scared too and she must have supported him, no left him in the hardest momment.

I am really torn about this one. At first, it would seem like an overreaction when Lexie told Mark that he slept with Karev. It is a double standard. It's like saying it is forgivable for a man to cheat than a woman to cheat. I just didn't like how Lexie stated it. "Thank God! I slept with Alex." like it was a relief that Mark did sleep with someone too. I understand too where Mark is coming from. She broke up with him. I get why she did that. She's too young for all of this. I think it will be clearer for Mark after a while. He'll realize that he just overreacted. I could care less about this couple. It'll be more exciting if Mark will be single again. Maybe he can be with Teddy. hahaha! Obviously, I love Teddy. Regarding Owen and Cristina, I really thought that was the end of their relationship. Owen must really love her. I am really into their love triangle. It's very complex. I thought Dr. Avery will join these three to shake things up a little bit. Not that Teddy hasn't done that by merely arriving to Seattle.

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode?
Alex: "I deserve better than this." Not only did I agree, but I thought it showed just how far he has come since the first season. 2. Do you agree with how Derek handled things with the Chief?
Yes. I think it was wrong of Mer to tell him, but once she did he had absolutely no choice but to go to the board. The Chief's drinking could pose a threat to the hospital, staff, and patients. Derek may have had some self-interest, but he overall had to do it. 3. Can Cristina and Owen's strained relationship survive?
I truly believe that they will survive. If only because they're both incredibly stubborn. 4. Will - and should - Izzie and Alex get back together?
I really hope they won't. For one, I want KH to leave the show. But mostly, Alex deserves better. 5. Did Mark overreact to Lexie's confession?
Absolutely. They were broken up, and he slept with Addie. Lexie technically did nothing wrong, and it took a lot of balls to tell him the truth.

1. What was your favorite Grey's Anatomy quote from the episode? OWEN: You know, in my experience, nobody goes into a battle because they want to win a purple heart. You do the right thing, and sometimes that gets you a medal, and sometimes it gets you killed.
DEREK: How do you know it's the right thing?
OWEN: When it's the best thing for the most people, the thing that... keeps the most people alive. 2. Do you agree with how Derek handled things with the Chief? I expected more from Richard.
Meredith was thinking only about the chief and about herself and how much she was learning all these days. “Fine! If I had to choose, gun to my head, I would choose surgery. Okay? she admitted to Cristina. As much as I loved the first fight in the post-it scene she wasn’t right to use in that occasion. For sure she can talk to her husband, not the chief or surgery. But in this case there are other people’s lives in the line. What if Richard had committed a crime? What if the yellow patient had die? Meredith gave Derek no option by calling post-it. He had to respect that. Respect their love and their commitment. But he had to do something. In the end, as Owen said, you have to save more people. Even looking bad. In the bed he said they are the same cause he admits he wants to be chief and for sure he didn’t like to play dirty. But they had different reasons for doing what they did. Derek wants to be chief, but as he showed before, not at any costs. The bottle was cruel. Yes. But he did to stop Richard, protect Meredith, the patient and the whole hospital. 3. Can Cristina and Owen's strained relationship survive? I don’t believe Cristina can love someone else. True love. Burke was more like her but Owen is too sweet and caring to deserve less. As Teddy said, Beth was without ambition, and Cristina is the total opposite. Owen needs both. Career and love. And he deserves someone who wants both either. Like Teddy. 4. Will - and should - Izzie and Alex get back together? True love must prevail. I believe Alex loves Izzie. He grew up because of her. He learned to love. But I don’t believe she really loved him. She’d loved others before. And she loved the perfect wedding moment. But after she left I’m not so sure it’s true love. 5. Did Mark overreact to Lexie's confession? My first thought was he’s being sexist. Men can do everything but women don’t. But after think for a while, he was dealing with his daughter and grandkid in danger. And she slept with someone else. And said they were even. To childish, to immature. Besides, Alex is still married and his wife had cancer.

Grey's Anatomy Season 6 Episode 12 Quotes

(narrating) Number one rule of surgery is limit exposure. Keep your hands clean, your incisions small, and your wounds covered. Number two rule of surgery is when rule number one stops working, try something else. Because sometimes you can't limit exposure, sometimes the injury is so bad you have to cut, and cut big.

(narrating) In surgery, the healing process begins with a cut, an incision, the tearing of flesh. We have to damage the healthy flesh in order to expose the unhealthy. It feels cruel and against common sense, but it works. You risk exposure for the sake of healing, and when it's over, once the incision has been closed, you wait. You wait and hope that your patient will heal. That you haven't in fact, just made everything worse.
