Heroes WILL Return, Greg Grunberg Says

at . Comments

Good news: Heroes completed filming on its abysmal fourth season this week.

Bad news: Star Greg Grunberg says complete confidence that the show will return for a fifth season.

"[The season finale] is nowhere near a series finale,” he said at the People’s Choice Awards. “It is cliffhanger-y and exciting, but it is nowhere near an end to a series that people are so invested in. It does not tie everything up in a neat bow... I don’t have any doubt that the show will be back.”

Grunberg, of course, has no actual say in whether or not the series returns. Nor does anyone that runs Heroes.

Of course the show wouldn't air a series-concluding episode without word from NBC that it was giving Heroes the ax.

The actor is correct, however, when he cites strong DVD sales and international popularity as two reasons the drama might go on. He's also incredibly off-base when comparing Heroes to another, truly successful, iconic program:

Lost announced an end [date] and I think that helped both the people working on the show and the people watching it. They see the finish line and I think it gives them something tangible to invest in and be excited about. It’s like it’s a movie and they want to see the end of it. That’s what I hope happens with our show.”

In conclusion, based on the way NBC has bumbled the Jay Leno/Conan O'Brien situation - and based on the fact that it clearly has no idea how to run a contending network - anything is possible.

But even long-time fans and posters in our Heroes forum appear sick of this season and hesitant to trust Tim Kring to write a new one. Where do you stand?

Tim Kring just write a book and if the show continues good, but if not we can atleast read. Write a book and it will sell, we need to have more heroes. I am waiting for the the 5th season, but you can write it if we can't see it, we can picture it. We know the characters, write the book.

They should get rid of the carnival for the 5th season and figure out a reason for Hiro and Peter to go back in time to correct a mistake that was made. And if that happens, they could bring back some of the old cast back. Heroe's is the only show that can correct it's mistakes by going back in time. I think they should take advantage of that ability.

I really liked this season, i have watched (and still watching some of them) quite a bunch of series , like Lost, Prison Break, Flash Forward etc. and i think i can say that Heroes has always been my number 1. It would be a huge shame for the show, if it doesn't come back for a 5th season.

I still love the show and hope it will be back for Season 5. I don't want it to end, but if it does, I would like an announcement of a final season and closure. The writers need to give Peter his full powers back. Sylar as a "Hero"? Sure why not... interesting concept now that Nathan is gone. NBC please do not cancel Heroes!

I've loved the show from the start. I would love It to keep going. But the whole Samual thing and the stupid Carnival can just go away. Give peter his powers back. And stop with all this Sylers good then he's bad thing. It's just annoying. But I love the show. And hope if they do end it. They end it the right way. But I hope they don't end it.

I have watched every show of Heroes and read many reviews of the show and I do agree that there is room for improvement. But I love the show I do not want it to end, but if it does give us some kind of closer. Peter has to get his powers back. They has been taken away for too long. We need to see the old Peter. Also a little more action. Love the show

I've really enjoyed this season. Even though it's not perfect, it has still been entertaining, and I look forward to each new episode. Perhaps, a fan of the show should write the recaps and critiques now and then. It would be refreshing to read a review that doesn't attack the show on a consistent basis.

I love this season. I don't know why everyone else hates it. But i guess i love Heroes so much that the show can do no wrong by me. I'll just have to enjoy it while i can.

@M.L. House thank you for your honesty. You've been hiding for so long behind that "we love Heroes but just want it to get better" bullshit. Saying season5 confirmation is a bad news at least has the merit of being clear about your intentions when you write your inane reviews. But keep going! I keep coming to this site every week just because your retarded recaps are so entertaining!

After the way 'Reaper' was treated (I really liked that show) I don't trust that if the show is axed we would get a proper conclusion. US networks have a habit of not caring about tying up loose ends (hell 'My Name Is Earl' had an awful ending considering what a great show it was) and when the axe falls that's it. What they SHOULD do (and I hope they do if they decide to axe Heroes) is give them a few courtesy episodes to tie anything up, but that's not a given.
I don't trust a word that comes out of Grunberg's mouth, a month ago he was telling us the Petrelli's were both safe (which anyone who believed him was pretty stupid to believe anyway as Nathan was already dead), he's always hyper and over-entusiastic even when things are terrible, he's definately not the cast member I'd trust to reassure me.
But seriously guys, if you don't want the show renewed why the hell have a website dedicated to it?!! You don't come across as fans so why act as though we're supposed to think you care? You clearly don't.
