Criminal Minds Spin-Off First Look: Forest Whitaker as Agent Cooper

at . Comments

On April 7, CBS will air an episode of Criminal Minds that paves the way for its planned spin-off.

On that installment, Agent Hotchner's BAU team will join up with new operatives led by Forest Whitaker's Sam Cooper. Together, they all investigate an outbreak of murders in San Francisco.

In the photo below, Whitaker is seen with Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Joe Mantegna:

Last year, CBS spun-off NCIS successfully to create NCIS: Los Angeles, one of the highest-rated shows on TV. It's safe to assume this new version of Criminal Minds will also get picked up this fall.

If that's the case, it will also star Beau Garrett, Matt Ryan and Michael Kelly. Below, we've posted three more pictures from the April 7 episode:

Agent Cooper...hum...a wasted of time and a wasted nut.

CM is just not the same . Losing Gideon was hard enough. Then L now AJ. It is on its way out. They had a winning combination and lost it.Lyn

I love Forest Whitaker but if this new show is going to ruin the original .. forgett it !! EFF this show .. i say bring back the FEmales and give them more screen time!! frikin idiots!!

I don't see the reason for getting rid of AJ unless they are planning to replace her with another press liason character. Why producers mess with successful shows is beyond me, if it isn't broken don't try and fix it. I will reserve my judgement until I see the changes, I can't see how it is going to be better or even as good, but I will wait and see.

I am glad to know that this stupid "spin off" wasnt picked up. Now we can consentrate on making Criminal Minds The #1 show instead of #5...They can us ethe money to keep AJ,Paget and the rest the money & props they deserve.

Avatar my favorite ,she keeps me watching,i may stop watching criminal minds because of her departure

FYI, the spinoff wasn't picked up

After watching the episode with the spin-off team, I was very uninterested in the new team. They were too busy being cocky and flirtatious to be effective in my eyes. The beauty of the original is the intelligence of the team...and their professionalism, for the most part. I will give the spin-off a chance, but if the introduction was any indication of the quality of the new show, then I doubt I'll watch many episodes. And where was their "Garcia?" They only had a minimal team represented, of course, but it will take a lot of work to make it anywhere near as good as the worst episode of the original.

I love Criminal Minds and look forward to a spin off. Two Criminal Minds episodes in one week will be fantastic. Like Sandra, I watch all the reruns all the time.

A spin-off just means that the show is being spun off from the original show and made into its own show, not replacing the original. BOTH shows will air in their own time slots, assuming the spin-off is picked up by the network for the season. And if the spin-off is NOT picked up, the original Criminal Minds, with the original cast, will just continue airing as it does now. No need to worry about favorite characters or shows being replaced by the spin-off. The April 7 episode of Criminal Minds is just introducing us to the characters that will be on the spin-off next season.

Criminal Minds Quotes

Hotch: A sniper can wait up to 72 hours without sleeping.
Mays: Seriously?
Rossi: That's part of their training. They can stay awake for 72 hours and remain completely focused on their target.
Mays: How?
Hotch: By using a mental exercise called "fantasy integration". A sniper creates a scenarios involving a target that keeps that person at the forefront of their mind.
Morgan: Often they'll imagine a place where they're with the target, doing something together that takes time. For example, building a car.
JJ: For some, the fantasy begins the minute they're assigned a target. Then nothing will distract them.

To a father, nothing is dearer than a daughter - Euripides.
