Shonda Rhimes Promises Grey's Anatomy "Game Changer"

at . Comments

Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes promises a major, life-altering season finale this May, which makes it no different than any other May for this master of online hype, but still, Rhimes' guest column in Entertainment Weekly is definitely worth a read.

Here's what she has to say about THE. GAME. CHANGER ...

"What is coming up on Grey's Anatomy is pretty intense."

"It’s the kind of finale that changes everything. I know people like to say that, wave the phrase 'game-changer' around like a red flag in front of a bull. But dude, this year?"

The Chief's Wife

"Of course, I’m not gonna tell you anything about it. Because I’m scared to. Instead, let me tell about a few things that are going to lead up to it ... "

  • Teddy is going to find herself fighting for her job.
  • Sloan Sloan comes back to have Mark’s grandchild.
  • Derek and Meredith are going to have a very serious conversation that may or may not involve the word “baby.”
  • You’re going to see what happens when two Karevs get in the same room together.
  • Callie and Arizona and Mark are going to do something dirty with pound cake.
  • NOTE: They were going to do something dirty with mini-muffins, but Broadcast Standards and Practices said no.
  • A 700-pound man comes to Seattle Grace and our residents have a hard time remembering their sensitivity training.
  • Mer is gonna go a little badass and protective on Owen when it comes to Cristina.
  • Derek is going to get even dreamier (okay, I only said that so Patrick Dempsey will come to my office and say, “Please stop torturing me” And while he’s in my office, he’ll have to then say, “Please stop touching my hair or I am calling security.”)

Umm, did she say "baby" and Derek and Meredith in the same sentence? Whoa! What do you make of that and the rest of these Grey's Anatomy spoilers?

i think mer and der shouid have a baby it will be so cute they are my fave they are the cutest it will be more intresting with a baby in the show.

i think that meredith and derek are gana have tht baby tlk....m
i think tht meredith is going to tell derek some bad news about making a baby.....maybe she cant have a baby...but in the end she suprisingly found out tht shes pregnant!!!!!!!

I love Greys Anatomy. Mer and Derek are my favorite they can not break up. I hope that will not be a big change that Shonda Rhimes is thinking about. I think the show will have less viewers if that will happen. I wonder what they are going to do when Mer. goes off the show in a few seasons.I just want to pled with Ellen Pompeo to stay on the show, because it will not be a show without her. It already sucks that Izzie is no longer on the show.

I really really hope that MerDer will have a McBaby...
I think when there is a baby on the show more people will watch Grey's Anatomy.
But I don't like "April Kepner"...
She has feelings for Derek. I know that Derek loves Meredith, but i hope April go away. Greetings from Germany

well as for me this season hasnt been so great, like last season,i do hope shonda rhimes does not touch cris/owen rlship...what ever the gamechanger leave thm alone.I do miss izzie she was a perfect match for alex and the crush thing with derek a no no!

I really want Meredith and Derek to have a baby!!! If the game changer is that Meredith and Derek break up, I will probably stop watching the show, I hate it when Shonda does things like that. Just let the fans be happy!!!

I think that Meredith and Derek should have a baby and it would be cute because there is loads of them living in the house, like uncle alex and auntie lexie that would be very funny. But with derek being the chief wouldnt they struggle because of their jobs?

Sick of the Sloan storyline. You need a good roance, one thats a challenge for Mark. He deserves a better storyline. Especially since he matured.

I love Derek and Meredith! I'm glad that they're finally going to have a McBaby.

hmm, maybe callie is going to have the baby? After that convo with Bailey tonight, it could be possible. and doesn't Shonda LOVE stating the facts (merder will discuss a baby), but there is usually a catch (they discuss it but wont actually HAVE one)

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

I want to marry you. I want to have kids with you. I want to build us a house. I want to settle down and grow old with you. I want to die when I'm 110 years old, in your arms. I don't want 48 uninterrupted hours. I want a lifetime. Mmm. Do you see what happens? I say things like that and you fight the urge to run in the opposite direction. It's okay, I understand. I didn't, but now I do, I do. You're just getting started and I've been doing this for a long time now. Deep down, you're still an intern, and you're not ready.

When we say things like "people don't change" it drives scientist crazy because change is literally the only constant in all of science. Energy. Matter. It's always changing, morphing, merging, growing, dying. It's the way people try not to change that's unnatural. The way we cling to what things were instead of letting things be what they are. The way we cling to old memories instead of forming new ones. The way we insist on believing despite every scientific indication that anything in this lifetime is permanent. Change is constant. How we experience change that's up to us. It can feel like death or it can feel like a second chance at life. If we open our fingers, loosen our grips, go with it, it can feel like pure adrenaline. Like at any moment we can have another chance at life. Like at any moment, we can be born all over again.
