Shonda Rhimes Promises Grey's Anatomy "Game Changer"

at . Comments

Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes promises a major, life-altering season finale this May, which makes it no different than any other May for this master of online hype, but still, Rhimes' guest column in Entertainment Weekly is definitely worth a read.

Here's what she has to say about THE. GAME. CHANGER ...

"What is coming up on Grey's Anatomy is pretty intense."

"It’s the kind of finale that changes everything. I know people like to say that, wave the phrase 'game-changer' around like a red flag in front of a bull. But dude, this year?"

The Chief's Wife

"Of course, I’m not gonna tell you anything about it. Because I’m scared to. Instead, let me tell about a few things that are going to lead up to it ... "

  • Teddy is going to find herself fighting for her job.
  • Sloan Sloan comes back to have Mark’s grandchild.
  • Derek and Meredith are going to have a very serious conversation that may or may not involve the word “baby.”
  • You’re going to see what happens when two Karevs get in the same room together.
  • Callie and Arizona and Mark are going to do something dirty with pound cake.
  • NOTE: They were going to do something dirty with mini-muffins, but Broadcast Standards and Practices said no.
  • A 700-pound man comes to Seattle Grace and our residents have a hard time remembering their sensitivity training.
  • Mer is gonna go a little badass and protective on Owen when it comes to Cristina.
  • Derek is going to get even dreamier (okay, I only said that so Patrick Dempsey will come to my office and say, “Please stop torturing me” And while he’s in my office, he’ll have to then say, “Please stop touching my hair or I am calling security.”)

Umm, did she say "baby" and Derek and Meredith in the same sentence? Whoa! What do you make of that and the rest of these Grey's Anatomy spoilers?

Derek should just pack Lexie and Alex's bags and wish them good luck. While I'm all for the Mer/Alex friendship, I don't see why Mer has to go to the bathroom while Alex showers just to 'talk'. Perhaps the candle house can come back into play? Because I don't see a valid enough reason for Alex and Lexie to be living there. It's not a hotel and MerDer don't need the rent money.

GA S6 will be 24 episodes long. Interesting they've announced that Avery is returning next season, will he be in the main cast picture? But I think there'll be a cliff hanger as to whether Teddy will be back. Anybody heard if Kim Raver is back S7? But some times the talking up the producers do is sometimes out of proportion to what actually happens in the storyline. As long as MerDer are together forever, and we do eventually see them starting a family I'll be quite happy

No alex and lexie must live not in meredith and derek house, for this reason i hope that lexie get back to mark's house again,or at least she coulde live together with jackson,in my opinion they are good together...And alex he has the key ok derek 's camper,he can live there...

I really wish Shonda Rimes would reconsider bringing Isaiah Washington (Dr. Preston Burke) back to the show. The show is not the same without him. As a matter of fact I do not watch Grey’s Anatomy post-Dr. Burke. I only watch the episodes that Lifetime shows back to back that include Isaiah Washington.

Having just seen some previews for 6:18 I am feeling a bit of old GA spirit coming back. Lots of MerDer, and Alex substituting for Cris and Izzie. The most important thing is Izzie is asking for a divorce. I'm glad that Izzie is being given a proper conculsion to her storyline

Well they always say that the season finale is going to be kick ass but then you watch it and is not. I mean last season's season finale wasn't that shocking or dramatic like they said it was going to be. So that why I said that this season is going to be the same. Shonda always says the finale is going to be life altering for all the character and when you watch it, is not life altering because all the characters act the same way when the new season starts. For example do guys think that is right that Alex and Lexie are still living at Mer's? Do you think is time for Mer and Der to live on their own? So this is why I'm not getting my hopes up about the next 5 episode in the season and it has nothing to do with the lack of MerDer. I'm actually like the lack MerDer, because it means that they are happy.

In my opinion mark and jackson could be good together, but mark and teddy no please, they are not compatible for each other,at least or mark and addison again, or mark and lexie, she reely changed his man-whore way,and now after their break-up,he is coming back with his bad way again...But the dirty thing with the muffin is going to be on air,in this week-episode?And is something about sex or not?In my opinion is something about sex,and i am really happy if he betrayed stupid teddy:)

Shonda Rhimes has stated very recently that both meredith and derek are contracted through season 8- so no, sorry to burst your bubble, but the final episodes of this season are not the deciding factor. Regardless of whether or not the storylines do not flow together like seasons in the past- it is still a great show. Obviously great enough for you all to still keep watching and commenting. And no, it can't be so consecutive because people are leaving, and having babies. Give them a break. The writers have made the show new and exciting and taken it to an entirely different level. The whole season is about change because the whole show has changed- that's not necessarily a bad thing.

i really hope meredith and derek have a baby they have been through alot and i think that now since derek is the chief that if they had a baby maybe derek would take a step back from all the drama. i really think they should have a baby.

OMG, i don't get you people.
I LOVE this season.
I am a merder fan but I understand that Ellen wants to spend time with her baby, it's completely normal !
I love Grey's and I always will.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

Meredith (closing voiceover)

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.
