The show should continue AT LEAST to the end of season 8 and possibly season 9 because I think the gripping finale proved to the audience that the show still has so many possible twists and turns and is very dynamic. The cast are also extremely talented! It should undoubtedly continue as long as Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey are on it. If Shonda can keep coming up with the amazing plot twists etc. it could really continue for a long time! Im just hoping that we AT LEAST get another 2 seasons and possibly 3 or 4 more!

The word probably is big, this means say may leave or she may stay. It is really up to Ellen and if she wants financial stability now that she has a young daughter, bills need to be paid etc, and that would be the big picture for her to stay, plus if Ellen has been given another opportunity to act in something else.

If Grey's Anatomy does start to go like ER, then yes, it could go on for many years, Meredith will be an Attending someday, you could start another story around a new bunch of interns, there could be another Grey in that group, a cousin of Lexie and Meredith's, they could be the black sheep of the family, the one whom everyone thought wouldn't amount to much and to prove the family wrong, he/she went to med school to prove that they do in fact are able to amount to something.

I would like to see Cristina being a Cardio Attending and she gets her own eager little intern, she finds very annoying and everyone is, it's just like Cristina when she was an intern, and Cristi

I've been a Grey's fan from the very beginning, but we def need an end date. So it can go out in style. I really don't want it to end, but if Ellen isn't renewing her contract, we can't go on. She's the main character, and the show's named after her! I will be devastated whnen it does it, but we need a date ...

I feel that if Ellen and/or Patrick were to go, the show really would be nothing. While the title of the show is named after Henry Gray's book, it's already been known and established after the first episode that Meredith Grey IS the main character. Up until a couple of seasons ago, all the voiceovers were Meredith's voice.

I also don't think that the show could end up like ER, nor do I want it to. I was a fan of ER, and I couldn't stand all the new characters coming in and old ones leaving, but then coming back for a few guest spots and then leaving again, and blah blah. It was hard to get a handle on, and since many of us hated the merger, I doubt doing something ala ER would bomb it, and fast.

I agree with some who said "quality over quantity". I would love to see the next two seasons lead up to a wonderful series finale where things are closed and not left for discussion. Maybe one of the originals will be made Chief resident; stuff like that. Shonda says she makes her ideas

As much as I have invested into Grey's Anatomy and will probably be upset when it ends, I honestly think that they should set the end date at the end of Season 8. By that time the original 5 interns, now 3, will have completed 5 years of residency. At that time is when surgeons leave to take their fellowships, and this would be a perfect time for the series to end.

I don't want it to end. But i don't want GA to go on without Ellen. It won't be Grey's anatomy anymore. So if Ellen doesn't renew then the show should end at season 8.

I am for quality of episodes over quantity so I'd rather have 2 excellent seasons over many more bad seasons and since Mer is the basis of the show I don't see GA going any further after EP leaves but I don't want it lost style I just hope it goes out with a bang

The show isn't strong enough to have an ER feel and make it to 15 seasons. Since it's a character based drama, with a lead, once the lead is gone, so is the show. There is only so much stories you can tell without becoming boring or lame.

I much rather have two very great seasons than 7 more that feel ridiculous.

I already decided. The day EP, PD, & SO leave, so will I. What happens after, not my concern.

I love the show and never wanna see it end. But I also don't wanna see it end and us not know the people that are left behind. That would be sad!!!

  10. MJ_McBelle

The show should go on while Ellen Pompeo's still on it. It wouldn't be the same without Mer.

But I think it should end while it's still good just like what was done with Sex and the City. they pulled the plug while the fans still love it.

Grey's Anatomy should go on while it still can, with Mer and Christina still in it.

  11. merder4ever

and im not saying i want it to end any time soon....mer needs her happy ending!

  12. ole grey mer

No Meredith Grey=No Grey's Anatomy IMHO. I think GA should continue for 2 more years and if Ellen and Patrick go, then it should end. However, that being said, I don't think they should announce it early on, like Lost & 24 did.

i would really love to see Grey's keep going. i havnt had one problem with the series, quality wise. i was bummed that this season we lost 2 major characters that i though provided alot to the show, but that in the end had nothing to do with the show itself. i'm a huge fan, and the love of the show runs deep in me, so i dont think i would freak out of it decreased a little in quality. but i dont think it would be the same at all if it lost the main characters that have made the show. i was skeptical how well the show would do without george and izzie because i felt they filled a large amount of the comedy in the show. i feel they could loose others, but if they lost mer and der and cristina(and that means the actors as well) then the show would never be the same.
all i can hope for is that when it is time for the show to be over, they send it off the best way they can. if that means they decide an end date now, then thats what they have to do. as long as they do the show and characte

I love Grey's and will definitely miss it when it's over.
However, I agree...2 more seasons is the max...there's only so much storyline they can put into the show..

They should set an end date without Meredith Grey it wouldn't be the same so I do hope season 8 will be the last season if Ellen doesn't renew

To be fair, I have always believed that the show was named after Henry Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body, commonly shortened to Gray's Anatomy, by Henry Gray. So that said...Meredith Grey is merely a figure head in my mind. I know - whatever. Honestly, the continuation of any show should be based on quality of show, not quantity. I am a HUGE Grey's fan. I love the characters, the development of those characters, the lines that they are given, and most of the time, the stories that unfold with them in them. That said, I can't even imagine not having a Thursday night without Grey's in my life. I do not, however, want to see the quality of the show compromised. If that means that the show needs to end in season 8, so be it. I would respect that decision and love the show forever on the DVDs I collect every season. I will miss it...but respect the decision of quality over quantity.

I think it has to be on for at least 2 more years, at tops 3. But then it's time to let go of the Show. I LOVE this show, the cast, everyhing about it! And it's been in our life's in 6 years, and sure I'll miss it when it's over. But I want it to end on the top, and don't go down hill and end cuz there isn't enought viewers every week. So I want it to end at season 8 or nine! Cuz season 7 will be all about Meredith trying to find out her and derek family life, build a house. Lexie has to choose, Alex or Mark? Christina and Owen has to see if there still something there. And Callie and AZ may or may not have kids, or at least move in together, alone, without Christina! And then I have no idea what Shonda could possibly think of doin with the show, but I'm not ready to let go yet, I NEED 2 or 3 more years!

  18. merder4ever

to be straightthere is no greys anatomy without meredith grey.Just like ther is no er without abby lockhart and they even drug that one on..er should have ended when the main characters left and so should greys anatomy.there is no point dragging it out for 4 or more seasons after season eight if none of the original story lines are there.greys anatomy is not greys anatomy without meredith and derek.it needs to go out with a bang not carry on for ever with no real storyline{hello er}and lose viewers.

I hope this will be final season and that thez make it great, This next season should be about Mer evolving in the surgical way not emotional.
I love the series but everything comes to an end, and it should go when its the best! And i would love that there would be a bigger time jump!

  20. mmmmmcsteamy

I'm going to have to disagree... we've have seen many characters come and go, and that's the best part....we all know the history of the show and that the namesake belongs to Meredith Grey....but what about all the other characters that we have come to love? This season the show moved away from its center Meredith Grey, and really branched out to other characters....I really like that. Although, Mer is my favorite character and MerDer my favorite couple, I think the show could definitely have staying power because all the other characters are just as amazing.

I'm the type of person who believes that all TV series should have an end date, unless if the show is a crime show, like CSI or Law and Order, but all show should have an end date especially show like Grey's and Lost and even ER should've ended way before their season 15. ER after a long time on the air it became boring and tedious to watch, it might've had great writing but it was boring writing.

So I believe in quality over quantity so yeah Grey's should end in season 8, maybe season 9, if the original cast that is left is up to it. Now if Shonda want to continue to tell the story of he newer characters then she should create another spin off, center around the newer cast member. Maybe call it "The OR."

There will be no show without Meredith Grey. The show is named after her. She is the center. The heart and soul of the show!

The show should end when Patrick and Ellen leave after S8. The very first episode with the first scene started with Meredith and Derek so it should end with them leaving off the sunset happily together:)

This show needs to go out with a bang. A bigger better bang then lost ended up with. I wouldn't want it to resemble ER's cast because we've learned to love these characters and switching it up would lose all their viewers.

To answer you question, this show is NOTHING without grey herself. They can't keep the show running without her, so i'm with her when she says that the 8th season should be their last.

They should chose their ending and spend as much time as possible building up to it ! I wish the show COULD go on forever, but if they take it to a 9th season, there won't be much to hold on to .

I really think that Grey's has gone far and still is wonderful. They should set an end date and let it be done- there's only so much more drama on this show that could possibly happen.
