Mad Men Season Four Poster: The Lonely View from the Top

at . Comments

Based on events from the third season finale of Mad Men, it was clear that Don Draper would be starting fresh when we saw him again.

His marriage was over and he had started a new advertising company.

This fact was driven home by a recent trailer for the new season, as well as from these words from creator Matthew Weiner when asked about this summer's episodes:

“[They're] about stripping away the things these people think define them. Once they’re taken away, they just may have to look at who they really are.”

It appears as though that's exactly what Don is doing in the poster below, doesn't it?

It's been a pleasure working with you all. I wish you the best of luck.

Nostalgia - it's delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn't a spaceship, it's a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards... it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It's not called the wheel, it's called the carousel. It let's us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.
