Will There Be a Heroes Movie?

at . Comments

Heroes has officially been canceled by NBC.

But talk of a movie - meant to wrap the series up to the satisfaction of fans - continues to persist. Might this actually come to fruition? Entertainment Weekly posed this question to creator Tim Kring. He replied:

No decision has been made. But the Heroes brand is an extremely broad premise. It was a premise about ordinary people, an undisclosed number of people all over the world, who were waking up to these extraordinary abilities. Any number of stories could happen around that. We never posited a single ending or a single premise.  It wasn’t about getting off of an island or stopping something from happening.

We told stories in volumes that had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Those volumes could go on and on and on with many different characters. As a result, that Heroes universe is something that can be tapped into again in many ways. Certainly, a movie is a way to do that and clearly, there is an entire world and a number of platforms that this property could live in. Movies sometimes need a little distance from the television show.

Heros was awesome bring on the movie

This show was amazing I have no clue why they would end it. The movie needs to be made

The reason that NBC is losing ratings of shows is because they do stupid crap like canceling shows!! Just because people don't watch shows when they are being aired doesn't mean it's not being watched, sorry some of us have lives and can't sit our butt in front of the tv all day! Bring the show back!

Bring back the show!!!!

NBC is infamous for this kind of crap. They are completely married to Nielsen in a way no other network is, and their shows live and die by Nielsen ratings, which are flawed in the extreme for measuring a show's popularity. Nielsen is a marketing company, and they market a wide array of products. Their ratings do NOT measure how many people watch any given show...they simply measure how many people in the target advertising demographic watch the commercials they are expected to watch. If 500,000 people watch the show, and are either outside the demographic, or do not watch the commercials in the survey sample (tivo, digital tv commercial skips, etc) those people do not count. NBC's programming lives and dies by this method. This explains why NBC is infamous for canceling shows that on other networks would be considered profitable and viable. I'm hopeful they do a Heroes movie, or resurrect the show on a real network. There's a ton of potential for the storyline.

kiesha p posses some good questions and points as well... there is the entire other genration of heroes to consider as well as we would like to know what caused the future peter to have a scar? because as we all know every time we see his future side he posses a scar and nothing so far has changed it so that he losses it. and how would one explain nathans presence in the future when he died in the 4th series? and how does sylar develope from the end of series 4? and further more, has peter manage to keep clair from turning on him to kill him in the future. we need more of the spectacular series. NBC made a mistake in turning their backs on loyal fans of Heroes.

there has to be a movie... u just cant get us addicted and the leave us with nothing... i was so shocked when i heard that the show was canceled. i became a big fan. i would certainly like to see how so may different aspects of the characters develope and how the younger members o the cast take the idea of being a true hero is taken in the next generation, for example how the kid who speaks to machines whould develop with his talent into perhaps a teen and possibly further. i know it would be hard to integrate everyone constantly but it would great to se how creative the writers can become.

I so agree with the above statements . Im done with nbc as well. They expect us to tune in and watch , yet feel they owe us nothing in closure. To leave us hanging with out finishing the series or tying up lose ends , finishing story lines is completely selfish and shows that they care nothing about fan loyalty , but only about the oh mighty dollar ..and yet they expect us to watch their other programing line up..LOL.....well thinks again NBC , in case you hadnt taken notice these days , but we live in a multi media world ,, not like the old days when it was merely NBC , CBS , ABC and public broadcasting ..WE HAVE MANY CHOICES NOW !!! and I am choosing to not watch your network any longer !!! sell that concept to your advertisors !!!

I know this is random and beyond, but is there a reason some of the later caption contest pictures no longer are posted? There's just the text and the winning caption, but the image is gone... Did they all get deleted from the server?

whyyy would they cancel such a good show! screw all the people who gave up on it clearly there are still people who enjoyed it! i REALLLLYY hope NBC comes to there senses..at least give us a movie!!
