Season Two Promo: Glee Goes Ghetto

by at . Comments

The Glee cast is in an Empire State of Mind.

In the following promo, which includes footage from season two, Will inspires the group to show everyone "how ghetto we are." Cue Artie making like Jay-Z and New Directions singing back-up like Alicia Keys.

That's right, fans, Nationals will take place in New York City, which means a road trip for these singers and an overall awesome trip for viewers...

Why do the producers and casting directors of the hit show 'Glee' insist on ALWAYS presenting Black women and girls as FAT, LOUD, OBNOXIOUS, UNATTRACTIVE, IGNORANT, GHETTO, etc.? On tonight's episode ('The Substitute'), for instance, they presented "beautiful, petite, blonde" Gwyneth Paltrow getting beaten-up (in an unprovoked attack) by a FAT, UGLY, LOUD Black girl (who, of course, "had an attitude" about nothing). There was NO REASON for them to present this crude image of Black teen-girls (other than to reinforce the stereotype of the ugly, violent, loud Black). The producers, writers and casting directors of this episode should be ashamed of themselves and the Black actress who took on this moronic role should hold her head down in shame. This was both offensive and pathetic. [NOTE:
This criticism does NOT include plus-sized actress, Amber Riley (a regular cast-member of the show) -- who has managed to present herself as both an attractive and a dignified character on the episodes I have seen ... unlike all of those other Black actresses who have appeared on the show in 'guest' roles.]

i am loving the "empire state of mind" performance! cant wait to watch the entire version from new directions!

I also prefer the softer Quinn, the one with her hair down and without the Cheerio outfit..

I love this song!! Can't wait to see them performing this song on the show!!
Actually I also kindof want to see Finn and Quinn together...

I think Shue is saying "how down we are" not "how ghetto he are"

I am probably the only one but I kinda want quinn and finn to be together. But not the bad relationship they had before with her going behind his back with puuck and finn going behind quinns back with rachel.

Finn and Rachel will be together for the entirety of season 2, with no more break-up scenes. The writers want to explore the characters in the context of a stable relationship. Source: E! Online

@Casey, I'm like a hundred and four percent sure that he says something after "I would be lying if I said I didn't have feelings for you", it totally sounds unfinished O: And he and Rachel are supposed to work out as a loving couple or something this season, I think I read it somewhere. I bet Quinn is trying to get him back and he's rejecting her. @mahesh, YES I KNOW OMG. Her hair is awesome down, why is it always up in that stupid high ponytail, rawrrr.

why is finn such a jerk?!?!?! he finally has rachel and now hes like quinn i have feelings for you! i hope after he says that hes like buuuuut im in love with rachel. i mean come on! quinn had sex with his best friend and had a baby with him and now hes like well i like you wtf?!

if you look for quinn in the clip where will says...'lets show them how ghetto we are' she is not wearing her cheerios uniform!?

Glee Quotes

You know, a great big fat person once stood on this stage and told a group of a dozen or so nerds in hideous disco outfits that glee, by its very definition, is about opening yourself up to joy. Now it's no secret that for a long time I thought that was a load of hooey. As far as I could see the glee club was nothing but a place where a bunch of cowardly losers go to sing their troubles away and delude themselves into thinking that they live in a world that cares one iota about their hopes and dreams, totally divorced from the harsh reality that in the real world there's not much more to hope for than disappointment, heartbreak, and failure. And you know what. I was exactly right. Thats exactly what glee club is. But I was wrong about the cowardly part. What I finally realized, now that I'm well into my late thirties, it takes a lot of bravery to look around you and see the world not as it is but as it should be. A world where the quarterback becomes best friends with the gay kid, and the girl with the big nose ends up on Broadway. Finding the courage to open up your heart and sing about it. That's what glee club is. And for the longest time I thought that was silly, and now I think it's just about the bravest thing that anyone could do.

Glee Club is officially over. Thank you guys. It’s been an honor.
