Tim Gunn Calls Out "Diva" Taylor Momsen

at . Comments

Tim Gunn recently filmed his cameo for Gossip Girl, and let's just say that during his brief time on the New York set, he was not a big fan of Taylor Momsen.

It wasn't even her style that was the problem, either. It was her phone.

If the actress paid more attention to her lines instead of that, Taylor would be a lot better at her day job, Gunn says, calling Taylor both "sad" and pathetic."

Gunning For Taylor
What a Diva!

"What a diva!" he says of the trouble-causing 17-year-old Gossip Girl star. "She was pathetic, she couldn't remember her lines, and she didn't even have that many. I thought to myself 'why are we all being held hostage by this brat?"

The main issue, the Project Runway star says, was her BlackBerry.

If he were a regular on the show, "I'd say, 'You know young lady, there are hundreds of thousands of girls who are just as attractive and even smarter than you. Why are you acting like this show is a huge burden on you?'" Gunn says.

"[Taylor Momsen] was on her phone during every single break. I wanted to tell her, 'If you weren't on your BlackBerry, you can actually retain this stuff.'''

Gunn says he's not trying to slander her, but "I'd just ask her 'do you want to share with me why you are always on your phone?' At one point the director leaned in and whispered to me, 'this is day in, day out, my life.' She annoyed the entire crew."

Harsh stuff ... yet not entirely shocking to hear, unfortunately. Sigh.

To show he's not a total curmudgeon, the fashionable fellow had kind words for Penn Badgley, calling him a "delight" to work with, along with the rest of the cast.

Okay, wow. you all need to calm down. Tim Gunn (and this isnt criticism) will bitch about anyone if they annoy him. And Taylor Momsen is just doing what every other teenager in the country would do. Difference is that she's been in the public since she was six. Every other person on the show is over twenty, and they should all know who they are. she's a teenager.
And her being away hasnt improved the show. The show would be nothing without her. Every major Blair plotline in season 1 would have been boring without her. Season 4 is better because of the writing, and plots, and acting.
Taylor Momsen is an incredibly talented person who has taken so much abuse from people like you. I'm not defending what she does, but can any of you honestly say you have drank, or smoked, or worn kimpy clothing as a teen?
Get over yourselves. And watch the damn show. It's getting good.

has no one else noticed how great this season of Gossip Girl has been WITHOUT Jenny!?

Nobody ever refused Momsen time to "figure herself out." In fact, a lot of people would be very happy if she does manage to do so. What everyone is upset about is that Momsen is figuring herself out on everyone else's time and dime, and that's just not professional.

this is absolutely ridiculous, your all hating on taylor, but you dont know her, have any of you even met her? cause i have and she was by far one of the nicest people ive ever met, so haters should really get to know somebody before making judgements about said person.

The problem is that Taylor may indeed just be an average teenager - but the average teenager today is far more rude and inconsiderate than a generation ago. I work in a building frequented by groups of middle and high school kids on trips, and I am appalled at how they treat their chaperones and the adults who are serving them at the food counters, not to mention the adults like me who work here. These are kids from all over the US, city and countryside, all races and creeds. And they routinely walk right into people carrying food - because they walk four abreast and can't be bothered to move out of the way for even a second or don't look up from their texting to see if they're on a collision path. They walk also stand at the counter talking, holding up the line to order because they are only aware of themselves. Texting or checking one's phone becomes addictive, just like video games or any number of other activities that start as a habit. If she can't not look at it, Taylor needs to shut off her phone on set so she's not tempted to check it. She - and every other 'typical teenager' needs to learn that common courtesy and respect are never out of style, regardless of whether "porn-chic" clothing is.

Are any of the people commenting on this teenagers!! I think not and I am glad that Penn and Ed are sticking up for her because they are right and Taylor is a teenager who is acting like a teenager!!

I agree with Heather completely! This post has gone on way too long considering that Momsen was never worth the brawl.

Wow everyone over here is so fired up it's ridiculous. First to the defenders of Taylor Momsen- while it's ultimately true that Westwick and Badgley (who are by the way adored by a huge base of fans) have defended Momsen and while it's also true that first impressions in no way speak over knowing someone for four years, no one can deny that despite being talented above say, average, Taylor is way messed up a kid and may just end up as the next Britney without ever sounding half as good.
Secondly to the Taylor haters - jeez I dislike Momsen so much I might as well hate her- but what did she ever do to you? I never once heard Lively say Momsen should be outta the show- in fact Penn and Lively hung out with Taylor most recently before Letterman. I agree that the girl is annoying, probably- wait- try definately outta control and in need of some serious intervention but why is everyone here so touchy? I don't see any Taylor fans over here- most people make it a point to say that they don't like her but still think that Gunn was being dramatic. Let's end it with this- Who the heck cares what Gunn says or Momsen does anyway? We don't personally know her so we can't say she's a brat. But we can totally hate her because she's a pain to watch on our favorite show. Let's end it with that.

Tim is absolutely right and all you little Taylor fans need to shut the fuck up with this band waggon crap. The fact is Taylor is a sad, immature, bratty bitch and no one likes her. That is why Blake Lively and even now Leighton Meester is requesting to leave the show both saying there is too much "drama" on set. That little bitch needs to take her pretentious ass and jump off the side of a building. No one wants to deal with her disgusting smell of cigarettes, crack and STDs. Believe me, the show can surely survive without her. They don't need her and clearly she doesn't want to be there. Just grab another 17 year old who is actually remotely attractive and have her sleep with Nate or Chuck and cause some trouble with Blair and boom instant ratings. Just make sure she is not a bratty bitch in real life

Hello!!!!! Taylor has a number one single AND loads of fans AND a new album! Loads of people like her! So think before you speak please! Taylor is fucking awesome!

Plus Penn Badgley who is such a "delight" to work with has defended Taylor as has Ed Westwick on numerous occasions. They both argue that she is not a brat, just a teenager and at that age where she's figuring herself out. "Figuring herself out" is just another term for being a brat. Get over yourself, Taylor Momsen.

Gossip Girl Quotes

And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell ... You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl

[to Jenny] That's the thing. You need to be cool to be queen. Anne Boleyn thought only with her heart and she got her head chopped off. So her daughter Elizabeth made a vow never to marry a man. She married a country. Forget boys. Keep your eye on the prize, Jenny Humphrey. You can't make people love you, but you can make them fear you. For what it's worth, you're my Queen. I choose you.
