Grey's Anatomy, The Musical: Possibly Coming Soon!

at . Comments

The producers of ABC's hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy are reportedly considering producing a musical episode of the show come next year. Yes, we're serious.

According to Michael Ausiello, the special epiosde will air in the second half of the season (early in 2011). Further details of this potential episode have yet to be released.

Earlier this year, Chandra Wilson revealed that Shonda Rhimes was keen on producing a musical episode but admitted she didn't like the idea. We can't imagine why ...

Grey's Anatomy Season 6 Poster

If the "season that changes everything" means musicals, maybe Grey's Anatomy should stick to its traditional blend of humor, romance and drama. But that's just our take.

... Interesting that that picture was used for last season, not this one. But I agree with KristenR1983: I love the show. I have faith [if sometimes limited] in Shonda. The soundtracks are very-well known, so it's only fitting if they bring it into the plot a little bit more. I can honestly say that I'm a little suprised, but hey: if Shonda/the cast/producers, etc can keep us hooked for over 6 seasons, why not put a little fun into it? I think it'll be interesting to see, both in the aspect on how it will be shot, and [if] the characters sing. :3333

Oh and I love Grey's Anatomy FAR too much to STOP watching for any reason. I stuck by through the crappy story lines during the writers strike, Izzie seeing Denny from the dead again and again and again, George dying, Izzie leaving and coming back and leaving again....I'm a loyal fan and will be to the end! I'm optimistic and who knows it may be awesome! I have 100% complete faith and trust in Shonda! Maybe I'm just one of the rare ones..oh well

@ bee...I agree some people are being SO over the top dramatic about this! the tv guide article..its not going to be like Glee or Guys and Dolls. It's probably going to be a karaoke night, or something like that...NOT grey's anatomy the musical. Everyone take a second, and breathe! LOL wow.

Doh! I meant auto tuning not suto tuning, sorry

Didn't 'Scrubs ' do this too? If this happens I wonder if they are going to use an suto tune gizmo so that everyone sings in 'key'. Anyone seen the 'Mama Mia' dvd with Pierce Brosnan singing? He didn't have a good singing voice! LOL

if it worked for buffy, I'm sure it could work for greys :)

I can't wait, we have seen Chief Webber and Arizona sing. Callie alto ego Sara sings. Would love them to sing to patients, can't wait to see Patrick and Ellen sing to each other. Eric has a deep voice does he have a McSteamy sexy voice when he sings. Miranda sang to her son over the phone that was beautiful hope Chandra Wilson sings this time too. Make it like a fantasy or dream sequence, make it more fun. All I can say bring on 2011.

I want a Serenade- rap for Merder...seriously
After that Derek cares more to the carreer of Cri instead that to his wife's miscarriage and then she wanted her life for him...i wait all by this show...naturally Merder will not sing...

Come on folks, before reprove Rhimes idea, just wait and see this famous episode!
Alright, Grey's Anatomy is a drama show BUT where soundtrack was (and still is) very present and important, so, whatever a soundtrack which we hear to accompagny a scene or an actor singing, where is the difference?
Listening Sara Ramirez singing Silent Silent a capella or the duo made with JCap & James Pickens singing with Kevin McKidd at the guitar has given something more at Christmas (or Thanksgiving?) episode, didn't it?
We already know that actors won't sing and dance everywhere, what would be completly ridiculous and a quite disturbing besides, but we already heard Callie singing an extract of Lady Marmelade in 6x24 (or lately Karev) to young patients in order to help them supporting their fear and it didn't shock anyone, right?! So, again, just wait and see and give a chance to this episode! :)

if they want to do a musical they should get Glee to do it for them haha

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."
